Stampin’ Up! Countryside Christmas Joy of Noel Treat Boxes with Video Tutorial!

Good morning, y’all!  How goes the weekend!?  We had a cooooooool day yesterday.  I mean – it ALSO included a good bit of rain (thanks, Leo!) but mostly it was just blessedly cool!  Finn had quite the pep-in-his-step when we went for our walk!  And we even pulled on a light long-sleeve shirt!  YEAH!!

Since last night was Saturday – specifically the 15th-Saturday-before Christmas! – I shared another Christmas project for you!  This time it’s a super easy Treat (or small gift!) box made with the Countryside Corners die set!  The one I made last night was decorated for Christmas with the Joy of Noel Bundle and Christmas Classics dies – plus the beautiful Joy of Christmas DSP!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Gingerbread & Peppermints Square Gift Boxes with Video Tutorial

Well – November is winding down FAST, huh?  It’s already the LAST Sunday of the month.  Wow.

Just.  WOW!  😳😳😳 Hope the long weekend went well.  Tell me….do you have your Christmas tree up yet??  I do not.

Yet! 😉

If you were able to join me for my Facebook live video last evening, I appreciate you spending part of your holiday weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to watch the replay…here ’tis!

I had a friend – and Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew team member! – ask me to help her figure out how to modify a little gift box that she’d seen over at Nigezza Creates.  She wanted something a little bigger that would fit some chocolate.  You KNOW I am all about MORE chocolate, so…I stuck my engineer hat on and…came up with a 1 1/2″ Square Treat box with the fun and Christmas-y Gingerbread & Peppermints 6″ x 6″ DSP – plus…a few little tags and sentiments here and there.  Take a look-see:

While I was making it, I thought…wonder if I couldn’t just give y’all (and myself!) a handy formula so that you could create whatever size box you needed (within the constraints of your cardstock size, of course!).  And…so I did.  And made a 2 3/4″ Square Gift Box, too!

The basics are the same for any size – and the Box Size you WANT is the starting point for all the calculations!

For the 1 1/2″ square, I started with a 5″ x 6 1/4″ piece of Real Red cardstock.  Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored along the long side at 1 1/2″, 3″, 4 1/2″ and 6″.  Then I rotated the cardstock to put the short side up and scored at 1/4″, 1 3/4″, 3 1/4″ and 4 3/4″.

I used scissors to cut flaps and tabs…

..as you can see here (and at about the 7:45 point in the video!).

I used my Paper Snips to trim rounded corners on the large tabs.

In the video, I matted the small DSP squares on Basic White and then adhered them to the square panels of the box base.

I selected my “top” and used the very top of the head on the Snowman Builder Punch to cut a “thumb” hole.

Then I added Liquid Glue the small tab on the right side of the base in the picture above.  I closed the box together – check the video at about the 19 minute mark to see how!

I used a sentiment from the Peaceful Cabin stamp set and stamped it in Old Olive on Basic White.  Then I cut it with a small tag die from the Ornate Frames die set.  I also cut a Real Red tag.  Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the two little tags together – slightly offset but with the tiny holes lined up.

I ran a piece of white Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack thru the hole and tied a little bow.  I adhered the tag with a Glue Dot.

Using the small circle die in the Gingerbread Die set, I cut a small Basic White circle.  Then I cut the coordinating “peppermint swirl” die cut in Real Red.  I adhered the swirl to the circle with Liquid Glue, then popped it on the end of the tag with a Stampin’ Dimensional – and the box was done!

The large box has some Real Red 3/8″ Mini Ruffled Ribbon and a tag made with the Giving Gifts and Tailored Made Tags die sets.

I adhered the  Basic White Tailored Made Tag to the back of the Real Red detailed cut with Liquid Glue – adhering “bad” side to “bad” side.  That left the nicer “front” side visible on the back – where I stamped an Old Olive sentiment from the Festive & Bright set.

Et Voila!  I love this little Square Gift Box – whether it’s 1″, 1 1/2″ or a “huge” (😉) 2 3/4″!  Note:  2 3/4″ is about as big as you can get with 12″ x 12″ cardstock!

While I’ve used the Gingerbread & Peppermints DSP here – you can use whatever DSP suits your occasion!  Look thru your stamps and dies (although you NEED the Ornate Frames, Tailor Made Tags and Giving Gifts Die Sets – just saying!) and use the sentiments that you’ve got! 🙂

If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts you’ll need are down below!

Wayne was sitting on the end of the couch yesterday afternoon watching the UGA/GT game (or…was it a game or a schooling? 😉  GO UGA!) and made the mistake of getting up to go to the bathroom.

As soon as he cleared the hallway – the Man took advantage of the newly opened “spot” on the sofa.

Wayne returned to find…

…that necessitated some pooch-pouncing!

Stampin’ Up! Plaid Love of Leaves for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a theme/inspiration challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

So – the other day, I saw a card made by the Queen-of-Clean, Mary Fish.  And I absolutley fell in love with it – to the point where I simply had to make it for myself.  I thunked and I thunked on how to change it up – to make it more mine – but…there was no changing her perfectly perfect design.  So – I decided to use the same Love of Leaves with the amazeballs Stitched Leaves Dies and Plaid Tidings DSP – just like she did.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! For the Love of Felt Project Kit

Hey, y’all – it’s Tuesday so we’re 2/5th of the way thru the work week.

I mean – if I tracked things like that.

Which I don’t.

🙂

My card today is actually cardS.  Cards made using a seriously cool Project Kit from the Annual Catalog called…For the Love of Felt.  Check it out!

This is a Project Kit – which means…you need to grab the For the Love of Felt stamp set separately.

FOR THE LOVE OF FELT CLING STAMP SET

Other than that, bring your inks (Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Sahara Sand, Pear Pizzazz and Shaded Spruce) and adhesive – Liquid Glue, SNAIL and Dimensionals.  The Kit includes the rest of what you need to make 12 really pretty cards – 4 each of 3 designs, each with super cute felt embellishments!

Oh – and it has a seriously sweet box to contain your creations when they’re done!

I pulled my kit out on Monday and put it together.  Here’s the cards – and the envelopes are all decorated on the front and the back flap.  You know how much I like a decorated envelope!

Now – I’m going to show you a mistake.

Bad demonstrator?  Maybe.  But…I seriosuly WANT you guys to buy this kit – cuz it’s totes adorbs – and I seriously want you to end up with 12 cards that you LOVE!

So.  Here’s my mistake.

See the problem?  Know why I messed up?

I didn’t read the directions.  And I got in a bit of a hurry.  So…on this last design, I stamped the leaves first.

The directions CLEARLY tell you to stamp the sentiment first.  If I had done that…the leaves would be where they belong and not on top of the sentiment!

So.  Read.  The.  Directions.  And…heck – I’d even FOLLOW them! LOL!

For The Love of Felt would be a really cool gift for someone – an entire set of wonderful note cards and envelopes, ready to send, in a perfectly decorated box

Check out this quick video and then….get it for yourself! 🙂

I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Parcels & Petals Gift Box Video Tutorial

Hey guys!  Happy Sunday – and happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there!  I hope you don’t get a tie today.

Unless you WANT a tie – then I totally hope that’s what you get!

So – if y’all were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not – you’ll probably want to watch this video!

In the video, I’m going to show how to make the cute little gift box with the dies in the new Perfect Parcels Die set – which is bundled with the Parcels & Petals stamp set in the new catalog!

I made a couple three little boxes with the die set – you can see all of them in the video! – but they all have a belly band created with the gorgeous new Pressed Petals Specialty DSP!

The box itself is made with some card stock – in this case Night of Navy.

And then the belly band is a simple 3 1/4″ x 8″ piece of Designer paper – in this case…Pressed Petals!

I wrapped some Scalloped Linen Ribbon around the box and then tied a “faux bow”.  In the video, be sure to watch how I tied the bow – I give you a tip for tying faux bows with ribbon that has two different sides!

Finally, I made a little tag with the Delightful Tag Topper and Detailed Trio Punches.  I used So Saffron – and stamped the flowers from Parcels & Petals (the sample you see above in Night of Navy – the ones in the video in Rococo Rose).

The sentiment is from Parcels & Petals and cut with the die in Perfect Parcels.

Et Voila!  It’s a pretty easy little box to make using the dies and stamps in the Parcels & Petals Bundle – especially after you see it done!  So…watch the video and you’ll be on your way!  I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! New Catalog Survival Kits

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Hope your weekend is going well.  I’m here in beautiful Savannah, at OnStage Local.  Lats night I had the privilege of attending Center Stage – the additional session for folks who’ve promoted to Silver Elite and above (sending many thanks to my wonderful downline folks and customers!!!).  We had a fun time with Brian King and some of his group and heard a few speakers who were helping us to grow our business.  And…I got a couple new goodies from the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.

Oh.  And my very own copy of that new catalog!

Y’all.

Seriously.

This catalog is amazing and awesome!!  I flat can’t wait for you to get to see it!!  I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that you need to get your credit cards limbered up! 😉  And – you should consider joining my team right now so that you can get that cool 20-25% discount and give your credit card a little breather!

I can’t show you any pictures of anything related to the new catalog yet (Monday afternoon – promise!), but figured I’d share some B-roll with you!  Here’s me with Linda Geiger and Amy Koenders driving over to Savannah.  No – we weren’t moving at the time! 🙂

Later, after we’d checked in and met with the ladies of our group, they headed off to dinner at The Old Pink House (real sorry I didn’t get to go to that! 🙁 ) and Amy, Sue Prather and I headed to Center Stage!  The day was gorgeous – if breezy! – and the river was bustling!

Before we headed in, we took a quick picture…for posterity, don’t you know! 🙂

So – here’s what I’ve got for you today.  Two of my friends who also happen to be in my downline were able to attend OnStage in person this year – one lady out in San Diego and one with me here in Savannah.  To let them know how much I appreciate them making the effort to attend with me, I made each of them a little New Catalog Survival Kit!

I got the idea for the innards, which I modified a little, from a fellow Demonstrator, and then I went to town decorating them!  You can see that they’re both completely different on the outside – I made them to coordinate with my Thank You cards.  And to sort of personalize them to their recipients!

On the inside, though, they both got….

I typed up and printed a fun little listing of the contents in each box…

These are so easy to make.  They start with a full-size Stampin’ Up! Wide Stamp Case (these are the cases that the wood stamp sets come in – and you can buy them without stamps – get 4 of them for just $7!).  Then you add your DSP – I used two pieces because it helps them to fold and close smoothly.

The first case started with some Pop Of Pink DSP (this one went to my friend in San Diego – and she love love LOVES pink!!).  I cut one piece to 6 3/8″ x 7″ and scored/folded it at 1 1/4″ down the shorter (6 3/8″) side.  That piece went on the front and spine of the case – just slip it inside the clear plastic sleeve on the case!  The back piece is 5″ x 7″ and also just slips in!

At that point – I decorated the front with some Melon Mambo letters cut with the Large Letters Framelits, and a Succulent Thinlits flower – adhering them with Glue Dots.  The flower was cut in Whisper White and So Saffron and sponged lightly with So Saffron before I assembled it.

I stuck it on – over a couple of pieces of 3/8″ Silver Metallic Ribbon (of the now-retired Sale-A-Bration flyer!) with more Glue Dots.

Then I wrapped a piece of the ribbon around the case, adhering the ends of the ribbon to each other (not to the box) so that she can just slip the ribbon off to open the case.  I used two lengths of the ribbon to tie a bow and adhered it to the ribbon with a couple of Glue Dots.  And that was it!

The second box, for my friend here in Savannah with me, uses a quieter color scheme and the great Detailed Dragonflies bundle.

This box uses the Carried Away DSP from the Sale-A-Bration flyer (sorry, y’all – but you can use any paper that works with your color scheme)

I cut more Large Letter Framelits – one set in Early Espresso and the other in Mint Macaron – and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.  Then I used Glue Dots to adhere them to the front of the case.

I made a little tag using my Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Banner Triple Punch.  First I stamped the World of Thanks background stamp in Mint Macaron on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I punched it top and bottom, wrapped a couple of pieces of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine thru the punched hole at the top, and adhered it to the box with  Liquid Glue.

I cut three of the smaller detailed dragonflies from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits – one from Mint Macaron DSP, one from Early Espresso DSP and one from Vellum card stock.  Then I adhered them together with Liquid Glue on their bodies and adhered it to the tag.  Then I brushed his little wings with Clear Wink of Stella!

The final touch was a line of small Pearl Basic Jewels.  To close the box, I wrapped Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine around and tied it in a knot.  Then I made a 4-strand bow and adhered it to the knot with Liquid Glue.  Again – the recipient can just slide the twine right off!

Et Voila!  Two pretty, decorated boxes – perfectly coordinated with their cards.  And – isn’t that one of the coolest things?  Obviously, you could make these boxes for any occasion – how about one with school supplies in it for a First Time To School gift?  New job gift?  New baby gift?  I think you could get a lot of mileage out of these boxes.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Reason for the Season Treat Holder

Well, here I am.  It’s Tuesday night and I’m readying my post for the morning.  I’m in Savannah, GA.  Arguably a very food-y city.  Home of Paula Deen.  And….other chef-people.  And seafood!  Lots and lots of fresh seafood!

I arrived around 4:30, tired – not a terribly long drive but one that was undertaken in a rental car that’s annoying.  And smells like an ash tray.  A feature I didn’t notice – for whatever reason – when I picked it up on Monday evening.  After a morning where things just didn’t want to work right as I tried to get out the door.  Fortunately, Bo remains “good”, so that didn’t come into play.  Just not a great morning, okay?

So, I get here tired.  And hungry.  And find out I’m in what appears to be the only Hampton Inn and Suites on the planet with no mini-fridge and microwave in the room.  Wondering what to do with the bottle of froo-froo Peppermint Mocha Coffee Creamer sitting in my cooler.  And watching it start to rain – buckets.

I solved the creamer issue – they brought a teensy mini-fridge.  Done.

I start to look for suitable dinner ideas.  I’m not far from really anything.  I look thru the “This is Savannah” pretty picture book in the room.  Seafood restaurants.  Steak.  BBQ.  The Savannah Sweet Shop.  So.  Many.  Options!

Rain.

Buckets.

Wind.

Final answer – a medium Pepperoni/Sausage pizza and some hot wings from Dominoes.  In my slippers.  In the dry room.  And, because it’s been a crappy kind of day and I don’t want to be here, I self-medicated to take the edge off.  Just a little.

With Cinna-Sticks and frosting.

I am a party animal.  There’s no doubt about it. 😉

But – here’s what I brought along to share with you guys for tomorrow.  Which will be today when you read this.  All Hail the ability to schedule posts to go out the next day!  There’s no telling what kind of gibberish you’d get if I actually typed the posts in the morning!!

This is a great little treat box – using a SU! Tag-a-Bag gift box (like I used for this cute Halloween box) and the Reason for the Season stamp set and bundled Festive Flower Builder punch.  Take a look-see:
