Hello hello! How goes your weekend so far? Wayne’s been busy – he got all the steel up on the sides of the garden shed yesterday – whoo-hoo!! And Finny and I had a playdate with his sister Scout – and Jax, Teddy, Higgins and Reba! So – big day here!
And then, last night – I got on YouTube and shared a cool fun fold – called an Exploding Box! I got to try one at our retreat last weekend – my friend Susan Stanley brought it as her shoebox swap – and I loved it! So…I made another one – this one using the wunnermus Fitting Florets DSP and the Framed Florets Bundle – you can get all these new goodies on 1 Nov! Take a look-see:
Well – November is winding down FAST, huh? It’s already the LAST Sunday of the month. Wow.
Just. WOW! 😳😳😳 Hope the long weekend went well. Tell me….do you have your Christmas tree up yet?? I do not.
Yet! 😉
If you were able to join me for my Facebook live video last evening, I appreciate you spending part of your holiday weekend with me! If not, but you’d like to watch the replay…here ’tis!
I had a friend – and Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew team member! – ask me to help her figure out how to modify a little gift box that she’d seen over at Nigezza Creates. She wanted something a little bigger that would fit some chocolate. You KNOW I am all about MORE chocolate, so…I stuck my engineer hat on and…came up with a 1 1/2″ Square Treat box with the fun and Christmas-y Gingerbread & Peppermints 6″ x 6″ DSP – plus…a few little tags and sentiments here and there. Take a look-see:
While I was making it, I thought…wonder if I couldn’t just give y’all (and myself!) a handy formula so that you could create whatever size box you needed (within the constraints of your cardstock size, of course!). And…so I did. And made a 2 3/4″ Square Gift Box, too!
The basics are the same for any size – and the Box Size you WANT is the starting point for all the calculations!
For the 1 1/2″ square, I started with a 5″ x 6 1/4″ piece of Real Red cardstock. Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored along the long side at 1 1/2″, 3″, 4 1/2″ and 6″. Then I rotated the cardstock to put the short side up and scored at 1/4″, 1 3/4″, 3 1/4″ and 4 3/4″.
I used scissors to cut flaps and tabs…
..as you can see here (and at about the 7:45 point in the video!).
I used my Paper Snips to trim rounded corners on the large tabs.
In the video, I matted the small DSP squares on Basic White and then adhered them to the square panels of the box base.
I selected my “top” and used the very top of the head on the Snowman Builder Punch to cut a “thumb” hole.
Then I added Liquid Glue the small tab on the right side of the base in the picture above. I closed the box together – check the video at about the 19 minute mark to see how!
I used a sentiment from the Peaceful Cabin stamp set and stamped it in Old Olive on Basic White. Then I cut it with a small tag die from the Ornate Frames die set. I also cut a Real Red tag. Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the two little tags together – slightly offset but with the tiny holes lined up.
I ran a piece of white Baker’s Twine from the Baker’s Twine Essential Pack thru the hole and tied a little bow. I adhered the tag with a Glue Dot.
Using the small circle die in the Gingerbread Die set, I cut a small Basic White circle. Then I cut the coordinating “peppermint swirl” die cut in Real Red. I adhered the swirl to the circle with Liquid Glue, then popped it on the end of the tag with a Stampin’ Dimensional – and the box was done!
The large box has some Real Red 3/8″ Mini Ruffled Ribbon and a tag made with the Giving Gifts and Tailored Made Tags die sets.
I adhered the Basic White Tailored Made Tag to the back of the Real Red detailed cut with Liquid Glue – adhering “bad” side to “bad” side. That left the nicer “front” side visible on the back – where I stamped an Old Olive sentiment from the Festive & Bright set.
Et Voila! I love this little Square Gift Box – whether it’s 1″, 1 1/2″ or a “huge” (😉) 2 3/4″! Note: 2 3/4″ is about as big as you can get with 12″ x 12″ cardstock!
While I’ve used the Gingerbread & Peppermints DSP here – you can use whatever DSP suits your occasion! Look thru your stamps and dies (although you NEED the Ornate Frames, Tailor Made Tags and Giving Gifts Die Sets – just saying!) and use the sentiments that you’ve got! 🙂
If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts you’ll need are down below!

Finn Fan Fix
Wayne was sitting on the end of the couch yesterday afternoon watching the UGA/GT game (or…was it a game or a schooling? 😉 GO UGA!) and made the mistake of getting up to go to the bathroom.
As soon as he cleared the hallway – the Man took advantage of the newly opened “spot” on the sofa.
Wayne returned to find…
…that necessitated some pooch-pouncing!
Finny loves a good pooch-pouncing!
…but they never last NEAR long enough!
Come back, Dad – I’m in your spot and I need pounced!
Good morning and Happy Friday! Wanna hear something REALLY scary!? Hang on to your hat.
There are 93 days until Christmas.
Yes. Ninety. Three.
Less than 100. Three months.
In other words…it’s TOMORROW!!!! 😳😳😳😳😳
To that end, I have a fun stocking stuffer for you today! If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube Live then you were able to watch me make it. If not but you’d like to watch the replay here ’tis! I highly recommend that you watch it – this isn’t a terribly difficult box – but…it’s a LOT easier to see how to make it from a video than it is from reading!!
Good morning and happy Friday! I hope your week has gone well! Ours has been pretty ops-normal. Same stuff, different day! Tonight, though, we’ve got company coming – 5 1/2 folks will be coming and we’re going to be making sourdough pizzas! Should be fun! 😉
If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live – I appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If not, but you’d like to watch the replay – here’s the link!
Happy Happy Hawwmp Day!! And welcome to another edition of the Around the World on Wednesday Blog Hop. I hope you’ll sit down and spend a little time with us – regardless of where YOU are in the world! 🙂 I know you’re going to see some awesome projects!
Like most hops, we have a theme each month – and this month’s is “Tag Team”! Which means – we all created two coordinating projects!
I decided to create a little…table decor! When we have holiday meals with our friends, we usually do buffet style – with the silverware laying on the counter (on in a Red Solo Cup – TK would be proud!). I decided I’d contribute something fun to the mix (in addition to the normal two-dozen deviled eggs!). So…I pulled out a Mini Coffee Carrier and a couple of Mini Coffee Cups. Plus…the Warm Hugs bundle and some Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP. Take a look-see!
Happy Friday, y’all! Hope you’ve got a good weekend in store – and that you’re not hunkered for Laura. Or wildfires. Sheesh. What a year!
Today and tomorrow is our Stampin’ Up! Leaders Summit – it’s a virtual event. WAS supposed to be in New Orleans.
Yes. Right now. New Orleans! Possibly the only COVID silver-lining I’m seeing right now! Without that – we’d have been scrambling and SU! wouldn’t have had time to lay in an amazing virtual event for us! So…yeah COVID.
HUH??? EVER think you’d hear THAT phrase??
As an added bonus – we’re also going to find out where our Incentive Trip for 2022 will be held! I’m so excited to find out!
On to why you came!
If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live, I appreciate you spending some time with me – if not, but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis! 🙂
This little treat box starts with a cool Mini Paper Pumpkin Box – and is perfectly sized for treat-gift-giving at Christmas. It’ll hold a bar or two, some fudge or…whatever other little delights you’d like to include! I decorated the box – and the matching gift insert – with the sweet Warm Hugs Bundle and some Heartwarming Hugs DSP. Take a look-see:
The design for the front of the box itself is based on the sketch challenge this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches.
I started by making the note card insert, folding a 2 7/8″ x 5 3/4″ piece of Whisper White in half. On another piece of Whisper White, I stamped one of the round sentiments from Warm Hugs in Real Red and cut it with the matching die in the bundled Warm Wraps Dies. While I was at it, I cut a circle from Early Espresso and some Garden Green gingham from the Heartwarming Hugs DSP – also using dies in the set!
I matted a coordinating piece of the DSP on Mossy Meadow and then adhered it to the front of my notecard. Using Liquid Glue, I stacked and adhered the three die cuts. Then I stamped a little tree outline in Mossy Meadow – and filled it with the stamp inked in Pear Pizzazz – then cut it with the handy die in the Warm Wraps Dies. I popped it onto the card with a Stampin’ Dimensional – then added a little star from the All The Trimmings Embellishments.
On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Warm Hugs in Real Red – and the little tree again in Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz.
Even though it’s a gift insert – and your recipient is likely to be diving for whatever yumminess you’ve included – that’s no call to get lazy with the 3″ x 3″ Whisper White Envelope! I stamped the Warm Hugs tree on the front and added some of the Heartwarming Hugs DSP to the tiny little flap!
And then it was time to decorate the Mini Paper Pumpkin Box!
I started with a piece of Whisper White and embossed about 3/4 of the panel in one of the Wrapped in Texture Embossing Folders. I used Liquid Glue to adhere a panel of Heartwarming Hugs DSP – and then matted the whole thing on Mossy Meadow.
I wrapped some Real Red 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim around the panel like a present and tied a knot.
I created the tag in the same way that I’d done for the front of the note card insert – using one of the other sentiments in the Warm Hugs set. I punched a smallish hole in the top using my grocery store paper punch – then tied the tag to the panel using the Real Red trim.
I stamped a mug – in Mossy Meadow and Pear Pizzazz, the candy canes – in Real Red, and the star – in Bumble Bee. And then cut them with their dies in the Warm Wraps Die set. I popped them all onto the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then I added a few more All The Trimmings embellishments – and the gift was done!
Et Voila! The food-safe lining of the Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes – along with their size – make them perfect for right-sized food gifts at the holidays! And the whole thing closes up and is a tidy way to present your goodies. Decorate them with the Warm Wraps bundle and Heartwarming Hugs DSP…
– or…whatever strikes your fancy!
I hope you like!

My Fundraiser to Help Iowa – ends in THREE Days!!
One of the huge weather events (in a long list of them this past few weeks) – that really did NOT get a lot of attention! – is the derecho that hit Iowa a couple of weeks ago. If you have seen any videos of it – it truly looked like a hurricane had hit Iowa. Uhm – because it totally had – winds in the 100+mph range (that’s Cat 2 territory, folks!) With no warning to speak of. To say it was devastating is a bit of an understatement! 🙁
Imagine that same wind rolling across corn and soybean fields – destroying crops and infrastructure.
Why do I care? Well, I’ve got friends thru Stampin’ Up! that live in Iowa (fortunately safe!). One of them, who is also my team mate – gifted me with a subscription to Our Iowa Magazine last year. She was trying to convince me of the beauty of her “fly-over state”! Well – I read that magazine and…was convinced! No – STILL not going to move there, cuz…SNOW!! 😉
Why should we ALL care? As a result of the storm, at least 43% of the corn and soybeans grown in the state were lost. Which will be seen in the supermarkets where you and I get our food! But beyond all that – many in that state are hurting, have lost their homes, schools and businesses and some are still without power (12+ days after the storm and with daytime temps in the 90’s ). Many farm families lost everything and are left with a huge mess to clean up prior to planting next spring. With so much destruction, they can really use our help!
There’s an organization in Cedar Rapids, IA, called the Iowa Giving Crew, a Cedar Rapids based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that’s helping to get power restored to those still waiting, is feeding those in need, provides 3 meals a day and is helping with the cleanup. They’ve got a Facebook page that you can see here with photos and details about the help they’re providing.
I decided to follow Amy’s lead and set a goal of donating $500 to the Iowa Giving Crew.

I hear parents with young kids bemoaning the fact that they can’t eat alone. Go to the bathroom alone. Do really…anything?…alone.
Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a soft-and-pretty color challenge from LeAnne – and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo! I hope you’ll come and play along. 🙂
If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me! If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!
Hey y’all! Happy weekend! I hope your weekend WILL be happy – and that maybe there’s a little fun in there somewhere… 🙂
And – I hope that your fun weekend will ALSO include a little time with me this evening! I’ve got a fun…project (not going to say “card” cuz…. it’s a surprise!) for you! I’ll be sharing it and showing you how to make it on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page at 7pm Eastern. Take a sneaky peek!
Good morning and Happy Friday! 🙂 Hope you’ve got a fun weekend planned! Not really sure what’s on our agenda, to be honest. Probably something uber-exciting. Like…I think the Costco Business Center has Wayne’s bottled water on sale…
Yes. I know. You’re a little jealous of our Lives-of-the-Rich-and-Famous lifestyle. 😉
I saw a sweet “exploding” box-card that Brigitte Keiling had created with the adorable Zany Zebras stamp set and decided I needed to make one – or two! – of my own and share the how-to with y’all. I did mine with the wonderful Whale Done bundle and gorgeous Whale of a Time DSP. Take a look-see:
If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live, I appreciate you spending some time with me – and you got to see exactly how to build these fun “box cards”. If not – take a gander at it here on YouTube. They’re really pretty easy – but…kinda hard see how to do it in still photos – moving pictures are worth a gazillion words! 😉
The box is super easy to make – I started with a 6″ x 12″ piece of card stock that I scored at 2″ and 4″ on the short side and at 2″, 4″, 6″, 8″ and 10″ on the long side.
I folded and lightly burnished the score lines, then I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut at the dotted lines as shown above.
I cut 16 pieces of the Whale of a Time DSP into 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ squares and adhered them to the outside of the box with Liquid Glue.
On the second box – the one in the video – I got a little jiggy with it – and changed up the DSP for the “top” of the folded box – so the recipient see a little “sea-scene” when they lift the lid! 🙂
It made me happy!
On the inside, I used some Brights (Pacific Point) or 2020-2022 In Color (Just Jade) 6″ x 6″ DSP for the squares.
On both boxes – I cut two pieces of Whisper White at 1 7/8″ x 5 5/8″. Then I stamped the Whale Done sentiments in Pacific Point for both boxes.
I added a variety of sea images from Whale Done – in Calypso Coral, Pretty Peacock, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party, Balmy Blue, Shaded Spruce and Blackberry Bliss.
I cut the Whisper White panels down to 1 7/8″ x 1 7/8″ and adhered them in order with Liquid Glue.
For the “extra” sentiments, I turned to my Many Mates set and stamped a few sentiments on Whisper White in Pretty Peacock, Calypso Coral and Granny Apple Green. I fussy cut the words and edged them in Pacific Point or Granny Apple Green – then adhered them to the panels with Liquid Glue.
Some Whale of a Time sequins, adhered here and there with dabs of Liquid Glue was all that remained for the card.
For the lid – I cut a 3 5/8″ x 5 5/8″ piece of card stock – in Pacific Point for the sample box and Granny Apple Green for the video box. I scored and folded them at 3/4″ from each end on the short and long sides.
Then I snipped “tabs” in the end and adhered the lid together with Stampin’ Seal +.
I adhered strips of Whale of a Time DSP around the edge of the lid. For the top, I stamped a second sentiment from Whale Done in Pretty Peacock on a “scene” piece of Whale of a Time. Then I adhered the panel to a Granny Apple Green or Pretty Peacock mat and popped it onto the top of the box lid with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I stamped the whale in Night of Navy or Pretty Peacock, punched him with the bundled Whale Punch and popped him on with Dimensionals.
A few more Whale of a Time sequins on the lid finished it off!
Et Voila! This is a “wow” fun-fold for sure! And the bx is for sure sturdy enough that you could stick a little “green” inside or some candy. Or…both!
I love the Whale of a Time Suite – way more than I figured I would. The images and sentiments are cute (and SO fun to just keep stamping and stamping to make my own underwater scenery!) and the paper in Whale of a Time is wonderfully colorful and gorgeous!
I hope you like – and will try one of these fun box-cards for yourself!
And – maybe the Whale Done Bundle will be the one YOU choose when you sign up and join my Team during our amazing Pick a Free Bundle Starter Kit Promotion! 😉

Good Friday morning, y’all!! I feel obligated to say….stop touching your face and wash your hands.
There. Public Service Announcement….DONE!
If you were able to join me for my YouTube Live Video yesterday – I appreciate you spending some of your day with me! If not, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!
I got the idea for this sweet treat basket from my friend Sue Prather – who gave all of us one last weekend at our Spring STAMPede event!
This is so easy. 🙂
Where Sue used some Best Dressed DSP, I used some of the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP – from the Early Release Ornate Garden Suite (which y’all can get on 1 April – or NOW if you decide to join the team). I decorated mine with sweet Daisy Lane flowers. Take a look-see:
With my Simply Scored board, I scored at 2″ and 4″ on one side of the 6″ x 6″ piece of DSP – rotated the paper 90 degrees (doesn’t matter which way) – and scored again at 2″ and 4″.
Next, I used my Paper Snips to cut from the edge of the paper to the crossing score line. I did that on two opposing sides. As shown by the dotted lines below.
When I was done snip-snipping, my paper looked like this:
I placed Tear-and-Tape Adhesive on the inside of the DSP on opposite corners…
Then I removed the tape and brought the tips of the outside corners together – tucking the center square panel on the inside.
The end result…
I used some Liquid Glue to adhere the inside flap so that it would help to make everything more secure and tidier! 🙂
Ready to decorate!
I used a length (about 7 1/2″) of 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim (from the Tropical Oasis Suite) for the handle – using a craft stapler to adhere it on the inside of the basket at the points.
On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped two each of the large and small daisies from the Daisy Lane set in Daffodil Delight. Then I punched them with the Daisy Punch and the Medium Daisy Punch.
With the Leaf Punch, I punched three Mint Macaron and three Old Olive leaves. I creased each little leaf with my fingers and adhered three each on both sides of the basket with Liquid Glue.
I popped the small daisies atop the large daisies with a Stampin’ Dimensional. Then I adhered them over the top of the leaves with Liquid Glue.
A Perennial Essence Flower Center in the middle of each daisy finished off my Spring Baskets!
Et Voila! These little baskets are so cute and so easy and…how many ways can you think of to use them? Mother’s Day? Easter Brunch? May Day? Baby Shower? Bridal Shower? Think of all the gorgeous papers we have to choose from and the myriad of decorative options we’ve got with Stampin’ UP! The Daisy Lane and two Daisy Punches are spot-on-perfect for any and everything Spring-y!! And…the paper. The Ornate Garden Specialty DSP is gorgeous!! I hope you like – and will give these a try right now!!

Finn Fan Fix
Yesterday we started hardening the transplants.
Toted all the little trays and water-bottle “pots” to just outside the garage door for a little while in the afternoon. Gotta toughen up the plants in preparation for going in the beds!!
And I cut some daffodils (and a couple of tulip tree flowers!!)
It’s just the best time of year, isn’t it?!?
Finn supervised from the golf-cart.
That’s kind of his jam. Supervising.
If he had actual hands – not adorable paw-hands, he’d be holding a coffee cup in one hand and have the other in his pocket in the ways of site supervisors the world over.
