Stampin’ Up! Elephant Parade Baby’s Birthday Book Fold Easel Fun Fold

Good morning!  It’s Monday again, y’all!  Hope you’re enjoying Daylight Standard Time.  I love it so much!

Said no one EVER!  YUK!!  On the treadmill in the dark.  Feed ponies in the evening in the dark.  Final walk around with Finn – IN THE DARK!  🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Did I already say…YUK!?!

On a MUCH brighter note – I learned that the little baby brush (personalized, thank you very much!) was a BIG hit with miss Jules.  Appears she’s walking around the house brushing her almost-luxurious locks with it – refusing to hand it over.  Score!! 😉

I am hoping her parents liked the card that went with – and I’ll share it with you today!  It’s a sweet little book-fold-easel card (one of my fave folds!) – and it’s adorned with an adorable heffalump from the Elephant Parade set and some Happy Forest Friends DSP.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Number of Years Basket Bunch Birthday

Well, here we are again – it’s Friday!  Whoo-hooo!  I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve got chores and errands and…cards cards cards to make this weekend!  I have to go out of town again next week, so gotta get ahead!

Three years ago at this time, I was in Florida running a test – and one of our guys and his wife had their baby.  A little girl.  One of the first ever cards that I made for a specific purpose went to them to celebrate that birth.  And each year since, I’ve sent a little gift and a card.

This year, I used an Easter stamp set from the Occasions catalog called Basket Bunch.  I paired it with the Number of Years stamp set and its matching Large Number Framelits.  Take a look-see:

number-of-years-basket-bunch-birthday-4-stamps-n-lingers
I used a sketch from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge for the layout:

fms-275
And the color scheme came from The Paper Players color challenge.

pp331
I started with a Whisper White panel for the card front.  Using the sentiment from the Number of Years stamp set, I stamped it at the top of the panel in Blushing Bride.  When I put the stamp on my acrylic block, I curved it more than it already is, so that it would fit nicely above the handle of my basket.

Then I used the flower images in Number of Years to create a subtle, pale background.  I inked the foliage image in Smoky Slate and stamped-it-off-once on scrap paper before stamping it on the card stock.  I stamped the image all over the panel.  Then I stamped the little flowers in stamped-off-once Blushing Bride.

number-of-years-basket-bunch-birthday-2-stamps-n-lingers
The panel is matted on Copper Foil and then Blushing Bride card stock.  I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round the two opposite corners, and SNAILd the stack together.

Now – if you’re new to my blog (welcome!), you might think I did that cuz I’m a wicked talented designer.

Well – sure.  Of course there’s that.

But – if you’ve been around for a while, you suspect I did that to cover a…boo-boo!  Yep.  You got it! 🙂

With everything all matted up, I laid a piece of Blushing Bride 3/8″ Striped Satin Ribbon across the card front, securing it with little bits of Liquid Glue.  Over that is a strip of Smoky Slate 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon.  Then it was time to make the focal point of the card!

number-of-years-basket-bunch-birthday-1-stamps-n-lingers
Using the Basket Builder Framelits, I cut the little basket and handle from some Copper Foil.  And I stamped three little bunnies from the Basket Bunch stamp set in Smoky Slate on Whisper White, colored them in with my Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil and Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker and fussy cut them.

The final piece is a Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper “3”, cut with the Large Numbers Framelits.

To build the art, I adhered the handle to the card front with Liquid Glue.  Then I stuck a Glue Dot on the card stock and wound a few loops of Copper Metallic Thread around. Over that went the “3” and two little bunnies.  Hint:  The handle isn’t as “tall” as it looks here.  I adhered it with a gap above the basket – and covered the gap with the bunnies! 🙂  I popped the basket on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added the third bunny.

number-of-years-basket-bunch-birthday-8-stamps-n-lingers
For the sentiment, I stamped two words from Number of Years in Smoky Slate and cut them out, edged them with the Blushing Bride Marker and stuck them to the basket with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I repeated my stamped-off-once Smoky Slate and Blushing Bride flowers in the middle of a Whisper White panel.

number-of-years-basket-bunch-birthday-5-stamps-n-lingers
I repeated the corner rounding on the panel and its Copper Foil and Blushing Bride mats (in for a penny, in for a pound!) and then SNAILd the whole thing into my Smoky Slate card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Number of Years flowers on the front…

number-of-years-basket-bunch-birthday-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and I used a piece of Smoky Slate Carried Away DSP (free in the SAB flyer!) for the Envelope Flap.

number-of-years-basket-bunch-birthday-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I’m pretty sure that, at 3, she’s not going to be fawning all over a handmade card.  So it’s really for her parents, right?  I think they’ll get a smile from the pretty flowers, sparkly number and cute bunnies!  Fun that the Basket Bunch – an Easter bundle – can be so versatile, huh?  Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

The look on the Finn-face when they handed him this bowl of charcoal-inundated “special”, veterinarian formula dog food….

Priceless!

Well, not really priceless.  More like $135!

Yes, he stole a horse pill this morning.  And the call to the vet resulted in:

finn-chewie-first-aid
…puking (poor little dude!).  And then the trip to the vet and the eating of the nasty charcoal food (which, apparently, wasn’t all that nasty cuz he ate every bite!).

Lots better than the tube I was afeared they’d use to “dose” him!

So – that was our Thursday. Bleh…

But he’s fully recovered – might have been harder on the mom than the puppy! 😉

P.S.  He also has a sprained toe.  Rough week for Finn-Chewie!!

Stampin’ Up! Hello, Little Sunshine!

Hello hello hello!  Happy Saturday!  I’m writing this on Friday evening, I think we’re getting close to being done and I’m full of Panda Express.  So, in a pretty good mood right now! 🙂

Today’s card uses a couple of Sale-A-Bration free goodies that are going away on the 15th (that’s a week from Monday, OBTW!).  First is the fun stamp set called Hello.  And the second is the pretty 2-sided Perfectly Artistic DSP.  To round it out, I pulled the chick from Honeycomb Happiness and a balloon string from Balloon Celebration!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Number of Years Pop-Up Birthday for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2

This week we here at the Happy Stampers welcome you to a sketch challenge!  It’s always fun to see what the 7 of us in the group come up with – we’re all so different in our crafty aesthetic – so seeing our 7 very different takes on the same sketch is cool!  Hope you’ll take a few minutes to peruse all our various offerings today.

To start out  – here’s the sketch we’re working with:

12278818_1305620516131187_8747520309334919805_n

So – two years ago (and one month from today), a lovely little girl was born to one of our favorite and most fun-to-have-around team members.  At that time, I was just getting a feel for stamping and making cards.  Hadn’t even heard of Stampin’ Up!, let alone availed myself of any of their wonderful crafting goodies.  But, nonetheless, I made a welcome baby card.  Don’t even have a picture of it.  Yes, I wasn’t even a blogger then!! 😉

Last year, I made a card for Miss Scarlett’s first birthday.  It looked like this:

Scarlett's b-day card and envelope 2 watermarked

For today, as I make her second birthday card, I once again have wonderful Occasions and Sale-a-Bration products to use.  I used two really fun things – the first is the wonderful, glorious Number of Years bundle, and the second is the so-intricate-people-think-you’re-a-genius-it’s-okay-just-let-them-think-you-are-one Birthday Pop-Ups Thinlit Dies.  Take a look-see:

Happy Birthday, Sweet Scarlett!

A year ago this week, I was on a business trip in Florida.  My good friend and his wife were expecting their second child.  On the 21st, lovely Scarlett Melody made her grand entrance.  For that occasion, I made my very first card that I gave to someone who wasn’t my mom!  I was so proud of that card.  So proud that I didn’t even take a picture of it!  What?!?!  Well, at that time, I hadn’t heard of Stampin’ Up nor ever considered having a blog.  Foresight maybe isn’t my strong suit…

But, it’s time for Scarlett’s first birthday.  I got an adorable little 3-piece outfit and made her a birthday card.  I’m sure that, at the ripe old age of one, she’ll be ever-so-excited and appreciative of the cleaver creativity of the card and the heartfelt words that I wrote in it.  Or…she’ll just grin and blow a spit-bubble.  Who knows!?!  But, it was fun to make.  So there!

For this one, I did a riff on a card I made a few weeks ago – based on the Mojo Monday Sketch 381:

502ae-mojo381

I used the Baby, We’ve Grown and Sassy Salutations stamp sets, with some Painted Blooms DSP (Occasions Catalog) and Irresistibly Yours DSP (Sale-A-Bration Catalog).  Take a look-see:

Scarlett's B-day front 1 watermarked

I started by SNAILing a piece of the Painted Blooms DSP to a mat of Pink Pirouette.  Then, I cut the circle from the top portion of the polka-dot Irresistibly Yours DSP with a Circles Framelit and my Big Shot.  I sponged that with Pink Pirouette Ink and then SNAIL’d that onto the mat, ensuring that the Painted Blooms DSP was completely within the circle.  I wrapped a strand of Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine twice around the mat, and made a little bow.  I left the twine/bow unsecured so I could adjust it once I got my tag in place.

For the tag, I cut a piece of Whisper White CS with my Note Tag Punch and stamped the Sweet Girl from the Baby, We’ve Grown set in Blackberry Bliss.  I colored that in with my Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight Blendies.  To make the mat, I cut another tag from Pink Pirouette CS and then cut it in half on a diagonal (could it be cut straight across!?  In a serpentine?!  Probably.  I liked diagonally), spread it apart, and SNAIL’d it to the back of the white tag.  As you can see below:

Tag closeup back watermarkedTag closeup front watermarked

Then I put a teeny Pearl Basic Jewel in the center of each of the bows.  That stamp is just Too.  Freakin’.  Cute.  And the pearl puts it over the top for me!

With the tag ready to go, I put some Stampin’ Dimensionals on it – being sure to keep them away from where the Baker’s Twine was going to run, and then I popped it onto the card front. Once I had the bow where I wanted it, I gave it a little dab of Liquid Glue to persuade it to stay put.  I cut a couple of pieces from a doily in my Artisan Embellishment Kit and used tiny dots of Liquid Glue to adhere them in a little fan at the end of the tag.  They remind me of the lace around the top of little girly socks (or, as I’d have called them a gazillion years ago – gonks.  I don’t know why.)

Scarlett's b-day front close up watermarked

Then I adhered the card front to a Perfect Plum card base, with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the outside was complete.  Moving inside, I started with a Whisper White liner, that I stamped in Blackberry Bliss with the sentiment from the Sassy Salutations set.  I added the little bunny guy (again from Baby, We’ve Grown) in Blackberry Bliss and colored him with Pink Pirouette Blendies and my Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Right Marker.

carlett's B-day inside 1 watermarked

And couldn’t resist using a few more tiny pearls – one on his bow tie and one to “dot the i” in Birthday. I added a row of the hearts from Chalk Lines, stamped in Pink Pirouette, across the bottom.    I thought it finished the interior quite nicely.  I’m sure Scarlett will, too – you know how discerning those one-year-olds are! 😉

Scarlett's b-day inside closeup 2 watermarked

I also added the hearts to the front of the envelope – just to finish everything off and make it a complete ensemble.

Scarlett's b-day card and envelope 2 watermarked
I very much like this particular layout and can see myself going back to it many more times.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this card – my friends should be getting it and the outfit-that-surely-will-fit any day now.  I hope they’ll like it as well.

Brand new Weekly Deals, hot off the press, today.  Check them out below and see if a favorite you’ve been waiting for has made it in!  If something strikes your fancy, let me know and I can get it ordered for you – or you can go directly online (don’t forget to use the Hostess Code!).  Just a thought – the 2014-2016 In Color Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stack is a super way to try some of the current colors – Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow and Tangelo Twist!

And finally, a gentle reminder – if you’ve got a hankering to make some projects with the Irresistibly Yours DSP – don’t let the Sale-A-Bration pass you by.  That paper is only available during Sale-A-Braton, which ends 31 Mar (right around the corner!).  It’s also a great time to fill out your stash of Blendabilities!  Remember – every $50 purchase, from ANY catalog, rewards you with a free item from the exclusive Sale-a-Bration catalog.  There’s a link down below for you to go directly to the catalog.

Enjoy the rest of your week.  I’ll post again next Tuesday for sure – even if I don’t have a card share ready by then.
