Happy Saturday, y’all! Hope your weekend is going well. I’m here in beautiful Savannah, at OnStage Local. Lats night I had the privilege of attending Center Stage – the additional session for folks who’ve promoted to Silver Elite and above (sending many thanks to my wonderful downline folks and customers!!!). We had a fun time with Brian King and some of his group and heard a few speakers who were helping us to grow our business. And…I got a couple new goodies from the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.
Oh. And my very own copy of that new catalog!
Y’all.
Seriously.
This catalog is amazing and awesome!! I flat can’t wait for you to get to see it!! I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that you need to get your credit cards limbered up! 😉 And – you should consider joining my team right now so that you can get that cool 20-25% discount and give your credit card a little breather!
I can’t show you any pictures of anything related to the new catalog yet (Monday afternoon – promise!), but figured I’d share some B-roll with you! Here’s me with Linda Geiger and Amy Koenders driving over to Savannah. No – we weren’t moving at the time! 🙂
Later, after we’d checked in and met with the ladies of our group, they headed off to dinner at The Old Pink House (real sorry I didn’t get to go to that! 🙁 ) and Amy, Sue Prather and I headed to Center Stage! The day was gorgeous – if breezy! – and the river was bustling!
Before we headed in, we took a quick picture…for posterity, don’t you know! 🙂
So – here’s what I’ve got for you today. Two of my friends who also happen to be in my downline were able to attend OnStage in person this year – one lady out in San Diego and one with me here in Savannah. To let them know how much I appreciate them making the effort to attend with me, I made each of them a little New Catalog Survival Kit!
I got the idea for the innards, which I modified a little, from a fellow Demonstrator, and then I went to town decorating them! You can see that they’re both completely different on the outside – I made them to coordinate with my Thank You cards. And to sort of personalize them to their recipients!
On the inside, though, they both got….
I typed up and printed a fun little listing of the contents in each box…
These are so easy to make. They start with a full-size Stampin’ Up! Wide Stamp Case (these are the cases that the wood stamp sets come in – and you can buy them without stamps – get 4 of them for just $7!). Then you add your DSP – I used two pieces because it helps them to fold and close smoothly.
The first case started with some Pop Of Pink DSP (this one went to my friend in San Diego – and she love love LOVES pink!!). I cut one piece to 6 3/8″ x 7″ and scored/folded it at 1 1/4″ down the shorter (6 3/8″) side. That piece went on the front and spine of the case – just slip it inside the clear plastic sleeve on the case! The back piece is 5″ x 7″ and also just slips in!
At that point – I decorated the front with some Melon Mambo letters cut with the Large Letters Framelits, and a Succulent Thinlits flower – adhering them with Glue Dots. The flower was cut in Whisper White and So Saffron and sponged lightly with So Saffron before I assembled it.
I stuck it on – over a couple of pieces of 3/8″ Silver Metallic Ribbon (of the now-retired Sale-A-Bration flyer!) with more Glue Dots.
Then I wrapped a piece of the ribbon around the case, adhering the ends of the ribbon to each other (not to the box) so that she can just slip the ribbon off to open the case. I used two lengths of the ribbon to tie a bow and adhered it to the ribbon with a couple of Glue Dots. And that was it!
The second box, for my friend here in Savannah with me, uses a quieter color scheme and the great Detailed Dragonflies bundle.
This box uses the Carried Away DSP from the Sale-A-Bration flyer (sorry, y’all – but you can use any paper that works with your color scheme)
I cut more Large Letter Framelits – one set in Early Espresso and the other in Mint Macaron – and adhered them together with Liquid Glue. Then I used Glue Dots to adhere them to the front of the case.
I made a little tag using my Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Banner Triple Punch. First I stamped the World of Thanks background stamp in Mint Macaron on a piece of Whisper White. Then I punched it top and bottom, wrapped a couple of pieces of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine thru the punched hole at the top, and adhered it to the box with Liquid Glue.
I cut three of the smaller detailed dragonflies from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits – one from Mint Macaron DSP, one from Early Espresso DSP and one from Vellum card stock. Then I adhered them together with Liquid Glue on their bodies and adhered it to the tag. Then I brushed his little wings with Clear Wink of Stella!
The final touch was a line of small Pearl Basic Jewels. To close the box, I wrapped Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine around and tied it in a knot. Then I made a 4-strand bow and adhered it to the knot with Liquid Glue. Again – the recipient can just slide the twine right off!
Et Voila! Two pretty, decorated boxes – perfectly coordinated with their cards. And – isn’t that one of the coolest things? Obviously, you could make these boxes for any occasion – how about one with school supplies in it for a First Time To School gift? New job gift? New baby gift? I think you could get a lot of mileage out of these boxes. Hope you like!
