Stampin’ Up! Whitewashed Calming Camellia with Video Tutorial

Good morning and welcome to half-way-thru-the-weekend!  Our day yesterday was chilly (says Capt Understatement) but sunny!  We STILL spent most of the day inside.  And that included the Finn – although he did “help” his dad run some things up to the mailbox in the van.  Any chance for a ride works for Finny – even if it’s just to the gate and back! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

If you were able to join me for my Facebook Live last night – I appreciate you spending part of your day with me.  If not, but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis on YouTube!

I saw a video the other day from Lisa Freeman – she demonstrated a technique she called Whitewashing – using the Calming Camellia stamp set and some of my favorite colors.  I loved how it looked so much that I gave it a go!  Take a look-see:

I borrowed the layout idea from the Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge!

I started with a panel of Soft Succulent that forms the basis of my card front.  In the two diagonal corners, I stamped the largest floral from the Calming Camellia set in Evening Evergreen ink – remember this is the gorgeous Host Set for Sale-A-Bration – you can see the deets on how YOU can get it for free down below!

Then I used an older Blender Pen – kind of dried out! – to color the flowers (not the leaves!) – using my Whisper White ink.  I’d tried a couple of ways of getting my ink – but ended up liking the smoosh-the-acrylic-block-into-the-stamp-pad method the best, with the addition of a few drops of the White Refill to “pull” from”, too.  The video shows what I mean! 🙂

I colored both flowers until I was happy – the white fades as it dries, so you might want to add more here and there like I did.

Then I cut the middle of the panel out with the largest of the rectangle dies in the Stitched So Sweetly Die set.  I adhered the frame to an Evening Evergreen mat for the card front.

I embossed the cut-out-middle in the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and popped it back in place on the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the large Calming Camellia floral in Evening Evergreen again on Soft Succulent and cut it with the second-to-largest Stitched So Sweetly rectangle (two sizes down from the first die cut) die.

Then I colored the flower with the Blender Pen and Whisper White ink – using a little more of the ink to make this floral a little brighter than the ones on the card front.  I adhered the die cut to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using a little strip of Stampin’ Seal, I adhered a loose “z” of Petal Pink 1/8″ Cotton Ribbon.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Calming Camellia sentiment in Evening Evergreen and cut it with a Stitched So Sweetly label die.

I popped the sentiment over the ribbon with a few of the Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some of the light pink Polished Dots – one on the sentiment and a couple out on the card front – and the card front was done.

On the inside, I used my Soft Succulent ink pad and a Sponge Dauber to ink the leaf image from Calming Camellia and stamped it in the corner of a Basic White panel.  I added another of the light pink Polished Dots.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Evening Evergreen mat and into my Thick Basic White card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Soft Succulent Calming Camellia leaf on the front…

…and a little Soft Succulent 2021-2023 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Ooooh – I LOVE this coloring technique, don’t you?  It is PERFECT with the Calming Camellia set  – and I love it in Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen.  But…what other color combinations could you come up with that would be gorgeous?  And I bet there are a ton of stamp sets that would ALSO be wonderful with this coloring technique!  Like…Hand PennedDahlia DaysFlowing Flowers!  Pull out your Whisper White ink pad, an acrylic block and one of those old Blender Pens and….get to coloring!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Last night I was in “his” spot.

Turnabout’s fair play, I guess…

One of these days we’re going to need to have a discussion about who – exactly – has the opposable thumbs in this pack.

Stampin’ Up! Flowering Tulips Special Moments Birthday Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Well – see?  It did it again.  Just a heartbeat ago I was telling Sonya and her granddaughter…see you next week.

BLINK!

And here it’s Friday again.  What in the world?!? 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

But since it’s Friday that means that yesterday some of you joined me for my YouTube live – and if that was you – then I appreciate you spending part of your week with me!  If not – but you’d like to see the replay  – here ’tis!

I’d had a request for a video showing how the Flowering Tulips 2-step stamps go together so…that’s what I did with this super easy fun fold card!  This fun fold is PERFECT for showing off our beautiful designer paper and I really let the Flowering Fields DSP loose on all the many panels available to decorate.  Take a look-see:

I’m always needing birthday cards so – it was easy to play along with the Watercooler Wednesday challenge this week!

This card is basically a little-card-on-a-bigger card.  🙂

The larger base card is a 5 1/2″ x 10 1/8″ piece of Early Espresso, scored and folded at 4 1/8″ and 8 3/8″ on the long side.

I used two designs of paper from the beautiful Flowering Fields DSP – one flower strewn (I’m calling it Design #1) and a softer design (call it Design #2) that happens to be the reverse side of the Design #1 paper!

I matted a piece of Design #1 on an Evening Evergreen mat and adhered it to the larger side of the card base with Liquid Glue.  Then I did the same with a strip of Design #2 on the smaller panel (on the right side in the picture above).

On the inside, I matted a piece of Design #2 on Evening Evergreen for the inside of the large panel – and for the inside of the narrow strip.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped a sentiment from the Flowering Tulips stamp set in Soft Suede ink.  In the corner, I stamped three tulips.  Tip: there are three flowers in this set.  Each flower is a two-step image – meaning you stamp one image and then stamp a second image over the top.  When doing two step images like this – it’s VERY helpful to stamp your DARKEST color first – and then fill with the lighter color.  It makes it MUCH easier to line everything up! 🙂

The stamps on the left are the first step (for me) and those on the right are the second – or “fill” – images.

On my piece of Basic White, I stamped the largest Flowering Tulips flower (#1) in full strength Bumblebee ink using the first step stamp.  Then I filled it in with the second stamp in stamped off once Bumblebee.  Then I stamped the medium flower – with Calypso Coral for the first image and Petal Pink for the fill.  The smallest flower is once again in full strength Bumblebee followed by stamped off once Bumblebee.

I added some stems and leaves in Soft Succulent – and a little flower center in Soft Suede on the largest flower.

Next up is the small card on the front.

It started with a 3 1/4″ x 7″ piece of Early Espresso, scored and folded in half at 3 1/2″.

For the front of the little card, I stamped the same three Flowering Tulips flowers as I did on the inside of the large card.

I stamped a Flowering Tulips sentiment in Soft Suede on Basic White and cut it out with the next-to-largest skinny Stitched Rectangle Die.  I popped it onto the panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I matted the panel on Evening Evergreen and then to the front of the small card base with Liquid Glue.

On a second piece of Basic White, I stamped a sentiment from my current go-to sentiment set – the wunnermus Special Moments set (FREE during Sale-A-Bration with a qualifying $100 purchase!) in Early Espresso.  Then I added two of the small flowers (flower #3) in Bumblebee and stamped off once Bumblebee and a few Soft Succulent stems and leaves.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Evening Evergreen mat and into the inside of the small card.  NOTE:  be sure you keep checking your orientation – this part of the card opens “backwards” so…it’s easy to get mixed up! 😉

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the small card to the outside of the larger card – on the narrow strip on the right.

Then I matted a small piece of the Flowering Fields DSP (pattern #1) on Evening Evergreen and adhered it to the visible portion of the back of the small card – as shown above.

Because I love them so much, I pulled out my Brushed Brass Butterflies and…went to town!  I put a few on every single Basic White panel on the card.  Hint: that’s a LOT of butterflies, but…they’re so cute and THIN! and perfect! 🙂

And the butterflies finished off the card!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got another spray of Flowering Tulips on the front…

…and more of the Flowering Fields DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I was so happy to get the request to play with this Flowering Tulips set – I hadn’t really taken the time to look at the three images and figure them out – but now that I have – I LOVE them!!  They’re just gorgeous.  And I really love the leaves and little grasses and other elements that let us play “gardener”!  The coordinating Flowering Fields DSP is.  Absolutely.  Stunning!  And I think I’ve already extolled the virtues of the Special Moments set – the free piece is just the icing on the cake! 🙂

If you’d like to recreate this card, all the products and card cuts are listed below!

And…I’ve also created a printable PDF with written instructions and a list of the products used to create this project.  You can download, print and/or save it by clicking this image:

Finn Fan Fix

Finny frequently cozies up to me at night – until he gets too hot.

The other night I decided to…take some selfies!

Mostly of him with his paws all crossed so cutely

Then I decided to just keep going!

He was very cooperative throughout the photo shoot.

Just a dog and his girl.

Hello and happy Sunday!  Hope your weekend is going well. 🙂

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay – here ’tis!

I got the idea – roughly – for this card while cutting all the pretty Shares papers!  When the Flowering Fields DSP came up – my brain saw the sketch from the Global Design Project and…I had a starting point.  As I worked with the paper and the sentiments from the Flowering Tulips stamp set – I bumped up my design as bit.  It ended up NEEDING a few fun die cuts from the Windmill Fields die set – and a sweet little border on the inside from the bundled Tulip Fields stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Holly Jolly Christmas to Remember Gift Card Holder – with Video!

Good morning, y’all – hope your week is going well!  I delivered the last of the cookie plates yesterday – and was able to have a nice chat with my friend, who I hadn’t seen for a while!  We ended up agreeing that the four of us WILL have dinner sometime in January.

We even held our feet to the fire and specified….January 2022!! Way to commit, right??! 🙂

My card today is actually TWO cards – my last gift card holders of the 2021 gift-giving season.  I like, and also hate!, giving gift cards.  They’re always the right color – they always fit – they’re always “just what they wanted”.  But…I feel sort of guilty giving them, too.  I always feel like I should have dithered and stressed over the gift more.  But…in lieu of that – I DO like to make a pretty gift card holder.

So…I used the carrying-over Christmas Season stamp set and Christmas to Remember Bundle, with some gorgeous (and ALSO carrying over – eventually!) Painted Christmas DSP.  And – for one of the holders – I grabbed a sentiment from the RETIRING Holly Jolly Wishes set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Daffodil Daydream Special Moments Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial

Happy Sunday, y’all!  Hope your weekend has been going well.  I think – THINK! – all my need-to-mail things are…mailed.  Mostly.  Okay – so there’s one more package that’ll need to go tomorrow.  But I’m SOOO close…I’m calling it good.  And I got pretty much all the baking done.  Unless I come across a recipe I just have to make.  I always forget how much I enjoy baking until I’m back in the kitchen.  How about you – is baking a happy-place for you?  Or…? 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Artfully Layered Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy two-weeks-before Christmas Eve!  Yes – it’s true.  Two weeks from today is Christmas Eve.

Yikes!  I am SO not ready.  So.  Not.  Ready.

But.  What IS ready is a card.  Perhaps I have my priorities messed up – no baking done, nothing wrapped/packed/mailed, few things gathered up. But I DO have a card today! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

If you were able to join me yesterday afternoon to watch me make this one on my YouTube Live, I appreciate you spending part of your day with me.  If not, but you’d like to watch the replay on YouTube – here ’tis!
