Happy happy Friday, y’all! Did you have a good week? I hope so – and hope that the weekend looks good, too! We’ve got lovely spring weather here in GA and the flowers are flowering!
I don’t have any Lily of the Valley – at least not real ones in the ground – but I DO have the new Lily of the Valley bundle and coordinating – gorgeous!! – new Valley in Bloom DSP to make a super cool fun fold thank you card. Take a look-see:
This is called a Pop-Up Accordion Card and it’s easy to make
I started with a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock that I scored at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″ and 6 3/8″. Then I folded it into an accordion.
I cut a piece of the Valley in Bloom DSP into four 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ panels – cutting them to keep the pretty design intact. Then I matted them all on 2″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock.
I adhered the first and fourth panels to the front of the card base with Liquid Glue.
To make the pop-up mechanism, I scored a 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Fresh Freesia cardstock at 1/2″, 1 5/8″, 3 5/8″ and 4 3/4″. Then I folded all the score lines in the same direction.
I put Liquid Glue on the first 1/2″ “tab” and adhered it to the card base – aligning the fold of the mechanism with the first fold on the card base.
Then I added the second matted DSP panel with Liquid Glue – covering the tab.
I repeated that with the tab on the other end – adhering it by the final score line. Then I slid the final matted DSP panel into place – adhering it with Liquid Glue.
For the back – I adhered two 2″ x 5 3/8″ pieces of plaid Valley in Bloom DSP on the two end panels. For the center panels, I adhered a 1/2″ strip of the plaid Valley in Bloom DSP across the bottom of a 4″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock. Then I cut the panel in half to create two 2″ x 5 3/8″ panels.
On the right panel, I stamped a Lily of the Valley sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink. Then I adhered both panels in place with Liquid Glue.
For the front pop-up panel, I adhered a 3 1/8″ x 4 1/8″ piece of plaid Valley in Bloom DSP on a 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Pretty Peacock cardstock.
Using the dies in the set, I cut out two stems and two leaves from Pretty Peacock cardstock. Then I cut out 14 little Basic White flowers.
I adhered the flowers to the stems with Liquid Glue – then used the Dark Barely Blush Stampin’ Blend (available on 5 May!) to color the tops of the flowers.
I adhered the stems to the matted panel – being sure that they didn’t extend too far above the panel.
I cut out a grid shape from Fresh Freesia cardstock using the die in the set – and adhered it with Liquid Glue.
Then I adhered the leaves with more Liquid Glue.
I tied a bow from two lengths of Linen Thread and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.
On a 5/8″ x 1 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a Lily of the Valley sentiment in Pretty Peacock. I adhered it over the bow with double-stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added five white Shimmering Dots (coming in this suite on 5 May) and the panel was done.
Using Liquid Glue on the middle panel of the pop-up mechanism, I adhered the completed panel to the mechanism – and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the flower image from Lily of the Valley in Pretty Peacock – with the flowers colored using the Dark Barely Blush Stampin’ Blend – on the front…
…and more of that plaid Valley in Bloom DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Well – I already loved this Valley in Bloom suite – with its stunning DSP and the pretty images, sentiments and die cuts in the coordinating Lily of the Valley bundle – and this card just made that love stronger! Add in some pretty Shimmering Dots (I used the Granny Apple Green dots on the video card – and they’re beautiful!) and…you’ve got a winner. And – this will NOT be the last time I make a pop-up accordion fun fold card – it’s so cool!!
I hope you like! And have already got this wonderful suite on your list for 5 May! 🙂
