Stampin’ Up! Healing Hugs and Angled Plaid Tidings

Good morning!  As you read this, I’m hopefully not even up yet!  ROFL!

Like THAT’LL happen!  I’ll be waking up on the beach on Pawley’s Island – and getting ready for the rehearsal dinner tonight.  Then tomorrow is the Big Day!

Like anyone would, I brought my Mealthy Multi-pot so we can have breakfast at the house – I have plans for steel cut oatmeal today with all the extras and Stuffed French Toast with Blueberries tomorrow!  Yum!!

Oh – in case you’re wondering – this is a calories-don’t-count weekend.  I enacted an Executive Order…

So – card!  I used the Healing Hugs stamp set to make a pretty Get Well card – and I combined it with some Plaid Tidings!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! We’ll Walrus Be Ready For Birthdays

Happy Happy Hawwwwmp Day!!  Hope your week is going well!  I am sitting on pins-and-needles, waiting for the text saying my Pre-Order is at the gate.  Whoo-hooo!!  I’ll probably hop onto my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page to give you all a look-see….so if you’re interested, be sure to watch for notifications!! 🙂

In the meantime – let’s take a look at the card I made today!  It’s a birthday card using the uber-cute (and RETIRING!) We’ll Walrus Be Friends stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Sunday Stamps challenge.

And the color palette is from the Cupcake Inspiration challenge.

I started with a piece of Purple Posy paper from the 2019-2021 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP (although the colors will still be around – these PATTERNS are retiring – so….get them quickly!  The Brights, Subtles and Neutrals are already gone!!).  I matted the paper on Purple Posy card stock with Liquid Glue for the card front.

A slightly narrower piece in Coastal Cabana (from the aforementioned sold out Brights 6″ x 6″ DSP) adhered over top is next.

I stamped the sweet We’ll Walrus Be Friends tusked-wonder in Smoky Slate on Whisper White and cut it with the largest circle Stitched Shapes die.  I colored the image with my Light Pool Party, Light Smoky Slate and Light Purple Posy Stampin’ Blends.  The Color Lifter Blend on his belly and schnoozle helped add a little dimension.

I stamped a couple of fish in Coastal Cabana and colored them with the Dark Pool Party Blend.  Then I adhered the circle to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the We’ll Walrus Be Friends sentiment in Coastal Cabana on a strip of Whisper White and snipped banner ends.  Then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A single Purple Posy 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Gem on the sentiment strip finished off the card front.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment in Coastal Cabana on a Whisper White panel.  Then, there are three more Walruses (walrusi?) and fishes peeking in from all around!  A lone Purple Posy faceted gem finishes it off.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Purple Posy mat and then into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple more walrusussusss and fishessessess on the front.

…and a little more Purple Posy DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  We’ll Walrus Be Friends is just adorable – with several different sweet images and fun sentiments.

So – don’t let this one….swim away from you! 😉

I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Tropical Chic Oasis and a Blog Candy Winner!

Good morning!!  This is a big Tuesday for us – not cuz it’s Cinco De Mayo but…cuz it’s PRE-ORDER day!!  Whoo-hooo!  I’m excited to get a few of the new goodies – and start to share them with you.  You’ll be able to get them for yourself on 3 Jun!  Of course, you could also decide to join the SU! team right now and then YOU could be sitting at your computer picking new goodies!! 🙂 Interested?  Give me a shout!

Of course – the dark side of new goodies is…saying good-bye to some old friends.  Like…the Tropical Chic stamp set and coordinating Tropical Dies.  These are in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.  And – from the Jan-Jun Mini, I used some retiring Tropical Oasis DSP and the wonderful Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder!  Take a look-see:

The layout – and the theme! – is from the FUSION challenge this week.  I went for both sides!!

I started with a piece of Early Espresso card stock and embossed it in the Coastal Wevae 3D Embossing Folder (I am pretty bummed this is leaving us – hope you’ve got it.  If not… 🙂 ).  Then I matted it on Grapefruit Grove (the In Color I’m going to miss the most!) for the card front.

Next up, I used the square die in the Tropical Dies to cut a piece of Grapefruit Grove.  Now – this die actually cuts negative space into a piece of cardstock.  So, I used my Paper Trimmer to cut it out.  I cut a same-size square of the Tropical Oasis DSP.

With Liquid Glue – I adhered the die cut to the DSP square – and then to the card front.

With Liquid Glue, I created a “twist” from a piece of 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim (also retiring!) and then used more Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front.

I stamped the Tropical Chic sentiment in Shaded Spruce on a strip of Whisper White and snipped a banner end.  With my Grapefruit Grove Stampin’ Write Marker, I edged the strip.  Then I used Liquid Glue under the left end – and doubled-up Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the strip.

Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the little flower from Tropical Chic.  I used the Marker-to-Rubber technique with the Grapefruit Grove Stampin’ Write Marker.  I finished up the flower by adding some Shaded Spruce accents with my Stampin’ Write Marker.

Finally – I cut it with the die in the Tropical Die set and adhered it to the end of the sentiment strip with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I added a second Tropical Chic sentiment in Shaded Spruce to a Whisper White panel. Then I stamped the little flower in Grapefruit Grove and Shaded Spruce.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Grapefruit Grove mat and into my Shaded Spruce card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Tropical Chic flower on the front…

…and some more of the Tropical Oasis DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Tropical Chic – and the coordinating Tropical Dies (on sale for just $18.90!!) – is a really nice set – with pretty tropical leaves (with dies to cut them out!!) and sentiments!

And you ALL know how I feel about the wunnermus Tropical Oasis DSP!!

I hope you like – and will get these goodies before they’re gone!  Remember – only the stamp sets are guaranteed thru 15 May.  Everything else is strictly while supplies last.  So…

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

I’ve got one April 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit – My Wonderful Family – to give away! Y’all sound like you’re excited to start playing with the new In Colors – but my informal and highly NON-scientific analysis of the votes puts Misty Moonlight and Just Jade as front runners – with Bumble Bee coming in a close third! 😉

Thank you to all who took the time to think and sort out your faves – or admit straight up that you just could NOT pick one! 🙂

We can only have one winner, though, and the handy Random.org revealed….

Comment #17 came from Glenda Lehrmann – who is loving Cinnamon Cider!!

“I like the new In colors especially Cinnamon Cider! So pretty! Thank you Mary for this opportunity!”

Whoo-hooo!!  Congrats, Glenda!  I’ll be getting in touch shortly via e-mail to get your mailing address and will send your kit quick as a bunny!

Well – we turned the A/C on on Monday.

Bleh.  I really love the windows open but…it was just too hot.

For us.

And for the fur-monger.  He was sleeping in front of the back door – sleep-panting… 🙁

So – it seemed like a good day for ice cream.

He agreed!! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Happy Tails Pressed Petals Sympathy

Happy Monday, y’all!  Don’t know if you’re in a re-opening state or still in a state-of-self-isolation, but… I hope your week is shaping up to be a good one!  Are you planning a Cinco De Mayo celebration?  🙂

My card today is one I hate having to make.  My friend from work (pre-retirement!) lost his sweet German Shepherd Jenna last weekend. He was, understandably, pretty down in the dumps.  So…I figured I’d send them a card and a little gift.  I pulled out the retiring Happy Tails stamp set, added a Stitched Be Mine heart and set it all atop some retiring Pressed Petals Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge.

And – it fits well with the Addicted to CAS Code Word challenge!

So – I started with a piece of wood pattern paper in the gorgeous Pressed Petals Specialty DSP (you guys – this wonderful paper is leaving us and is only available while supplies last – don’t miss a chance to get another pack in your stash!).  I added a strip of the burlap design on the right side with some Liquid Glue.  Then I matted it on Basic Black for the card front.

I wrapped a length of 3/8″ Denim Ribbon (this is sticking around for another year – YEAH!!) around the seam – securing it in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.

I stamped the sentiment from Happy Tails in Night of Navy on another piece of burlap paper and cut it out with one of the hearts in the Stitched Be Mine die set.

With my Journaling Pen, I made a doodle-dot-dash border around the edge of the heart – then popped it onto the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

With the Dog Builder Punch (which IS carrying over!), I punched a Basic Black dog (I know – not a GSD….best I could do!!) and adhered him with a combination of Liquid Glue and Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Also using the Dog Builder Punch, I punched a little Terracotta Tile heart and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.

I tied a denim ribbon bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot – and that finished off the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Happy Tails in Night of Navy on a Very Vanilla panel.  I added the paw print in Terracotta Tile right over the word “heart”.

Get it?  Paw print ON your heart?

Oh – check the gift…

Car Magnet.  See a theme?! 🙂

I added some more Terracotta Tile pawprints, then adhered the panel to a Basic Black panel and into my Terracotta Tile card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the paw prints on the front…

…and some burlap paper – with more paw prints! – on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I am sorry to see Happy Tails leave us – it’s perfect for this kind of need, don’t you think?  And Keep Calm and Wag On isn’t too shabby for this time in the world, either, is it??

And there aren’t enough superlatives for the Pressed Petals Specialty DSP – if you don’t have some – get it RIGHT NOW.  If you have some, get MORE.  RIGHT NOW!!  Just sayin!

I hope you like!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Finn Fan Fix

When I start dinner in the late afternoon, the first step is to tidy the kitchen.

You know – so I can mess it up again.

This involves putting away the clean dishes from the dishwasher and loading the breakfast/lunch stuff.  It’s never a lot, but you know.

Finn watches very diligently.

He knows when I switch from “emptying clean” to “loading dirty”.

And the INSTANT I make that switch, he is right there lickinglickinglicking.

After dinner – he knows he doesn’t even have to wait, so he’s right there from the jump.  He especially loves when I’ve used the griddler for like…a steak.  Or a hamburger.  Or asparagus.  He’s not all that picky! 😉

Lick…..

Stampin’ Up! You Always Deliver Sunshine for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a theme challenge from our clever Joanne this week and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo!  I hope you’ll come and play along.  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

Our theme this week – and yours, too, if you come to play – is Make You Smile.  I know that for so many of us, the sight of the Big Brown Truck pulling up ALWAYS make us smile (I know it does for me!).  So – I pulled out the retiring You Always Deliver stamp set.  And, since I alway smile at a good pun or cute sentiment – I used one of the cute sentiments from the Share Sunshine COVID-19 Digital download.  Take a look-see:

And here’s this week’s Paper Players theme challenge!  Hope you’ll join the fun and show us your projects!  I can’t wait to see what you create!  🙂

I pulled my layout from the Global Design Project sketch this week.

I decided this would be a great card to try out the Scrappy Strip technique that I learned from the wunnermus Bruno Bertucci (yes – of the Kylie/Bruno super-duo!!).

I started with a larger-than-I-needed piece of Basic Black cardstock to create the card front.  Using Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Sahara Sand paper from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP (which I just now at this very moment realized is SOLD OUT – I’m so sorry!), I adhered the strips to the panel with Liquid Glue.  I eye-balled the spacing and used three of each color to create to ombre effect of the sketch!

Once I had all the strips where they belonged, I used my Paper Trimmer to cut the panel down to size. Then I adhered it onto a Basic Black mat.

I tied a loose figure-eight from a doubled up length of the 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the You Always Deliver delivery dude in Tuxedo Black and colored him with my Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Combos.  I added the heart image in Poppy Parade – and cut him with an oval Stitched Shapes Die.

Using the Share Sunshine PDF that I downloaded (get yours right here!), I printed the page I wanted on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I used a Stitched Rectangle Die to cut out the Black version of the fun sentiment I wanted.  I decided it needed another heart, so I used the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write Marker to color one onto the die cut.

I popped the two die cuts onto the card front – over the Linen Trim – with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the perfectly perfect sentiment from You Always Deliver in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I added the sweet pooch from the set in Tuxedo Black and colored him in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.  I added some more hearts in Poppy Parade.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black Mat and into my Poppy Parade card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another You Always Deliver pupper and hearts on the front…

…and some Soft Suede paper on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s kind of a shame that the You Always Deliver is going away – cuz…it SO represents us as crafters, doesn’t it?? Without the guy in the big brown truck….sigh.  No big brown boxes of Stampin’ Up! goodies to see arrive in the driveway!

I hope you like!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Now – before you reach for your ink and papers, check out what our amazing team has created to inspire you this week:

So – as the child of an Air Force pilot, Finn was….disappointed…to not get to go with us yesterday!

We went to Costco.  Cuz…after looking at the planned flight path for the Thunderbirds/Blue Angels joint fly-over, it was pretty obvious we’d never even see them from here.  But – we knew we’d be shopping after – and…too hot for fur kids! 🙁

It turned out we were far from the only ones there!

This is what AirShows-in-the-Time-of-COVID-19 look like, I guess!

We did have some special spectators – I was happy to see them and get a chance to thank them for what they do for us every day.

As they drove in – everyone got out of their cars and gave them a standing ovation.  There might have been some whoo-hooing going on, too!

They had AWESOME seats!!

Finally – after I had a chance to run into Costco to get a couple of lavender plant/trees – here they came!!

They actually made two passes….to be honest, thru the camera, I could never find the Thunderbirds.  Their F-16’s are predominantly white and were very very hard to see in the bright afternoon sun – and thru the camera?  Nope.

Also?  Only the Angels – in their Navy Blue livery – were easily visible.   They’re also the only part of the formation that popped smoke on their passes.

On the second pass, I tried to take some video.

But…that really didn’t work out at all…. 🙁

It was really cool to see them – it’s almost unheard of for both teams to fly together like this, so…pretty amazing to see! And they quite obviously took great pains to give as many folks in the metro area a chance to see them as they could.  Kudos and a virtual salute to our men and women in the skty

Finn?

Well.  HE was upside down, legs akimbo – sawing logs when we got home.  I guess the movie I left running wasn’t interesting enough to keep him awake!!

My fierce guard dog…

Stampin’ Up! You Always Deliver and Share Sunshine Video Sneak Peek

Hey, guys.  Happy Saturday!  Hope you’ve got something fun planned!  We’ll mess around here and then try to see the joint Blue Angels/Thunderbirds flyover this afternoon.  I am so hoping they come over us – but…based on the published flight path, I fear they’re going to be a little too east of us.  But…you never know, so…fingers crossed!

I’ll be back inside and going live on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page tonight at 7pm Eastern with a fun card using the Share Sunshine COVID-19 Giveback Digital download and…the retiring You Always Deliver stamp set!  We’re also going to play with a fun background technique that I think you’ll like.  Take a sneaky peek!

It’s fun – and it’ll give you a chance to see how you can use the Share Sunshine PDF!

So – I hope you can join me.  Tonight.  7pm Eastern.  Right here!

Finn enjoys a good massage as much as the next guy.

Or…his Mom! Who is missing her monthly massage almost as much as she’s missing being able to get a haircut.

But…back to Finn’s…back!

Observe.  His Dad giving him a traditional Ashiatsu massage. Don’t be too impressed – I had to Google it! 😉

Okay – so it might not be all that traditional in north Georgia when performed by a guy in hiking boots! 😉

But…regardless.  Finn-y likes it!

Hmmm…If this isolation thing goes on much longer, I may have to wrestle Finn for the spot on the floor! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Good Morning Magnolia Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Happy Friday!!  Hope it’s been a good week for you. We’re just doing the self-isolation/quarantine thing…how about you?  Besides card making – what fun things are you doing to keep yourself busy (and sane!) as we head into the 765th weekend of The COVID-19 Crisis??

If you were able to join me for my YouTube video – I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay…here ’tis!

As you can see from the photo above – this card is based on the wonderful Magnolia Lane Suite – the Good Morning Magnolia bundle (with the Magnolia Memories Die set) and gorgeous Magnolia Lane DSP!  I created a fun-fold that looks a lot like an envelope so…that’s what I’m calling it!  Take a look-see:

The layout – that I turned into a fun-fold! – was inspired by this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock that I scored and folded at 2 5/8″ and again at 6 7/8″ for the card base.

On the smaller panel, I measured and marked the half-way point (2 3/4″) and used my Paper Trimmer to cut the point.

.

I used the same technique (measure half-way down the long side and cut to the point) to create the Petal Pink mat (2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″) and the Magnolia Lane DSP (2 3/8″ x 4 7/8″) panel.  Note – this part of the card is at about the 7:35 mark in the video! 🙂

Then I adhered the pieces together and to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I adhered a different design of the DSP to a larger Petal Pink mat and then to the larger panel on the front.

For the sentiment, I inked the Good Morning Magnolia sentiment in Versamark Ink and stamped it on a piece of Basic Black card stock. I sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  When it was cool, I cut it out with a Stitched So Sweetly label die.

Using the small flower die in the Magnolia Memories Die set – I cut a magnolia blossom from one of the designs in the Magnolia Lane DSP.  I used the leaves dies to cut three Mossy Meadow leaves.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the flower to the sentiment label and the leaves to the underside of the label.

I used Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the point of the envelope fold – being sure to leave room for my ribbon to slide through to create my closure.

I added some Pearl Basic Jewels to the label – and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped the small flower from Good Morning Magnolia in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Whisper White panel.  I colored the bloom with my Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends Combo.  Then I added a sentiment in Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into my card base – and the card was done!

I slid a length of ribbon (either Petal Pink 5/16″ Organdy Striped Ribbon or the linen ribbon from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack – which is retiring and on sale!!) under the label and tied a bow to create the closure for the card.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Good Morning Magnolia blossom on the front…

…and some more Magnolia Lane DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is a super easy fold – once you know the dimensions for the pointy flap, right?  I love how it lets you showcase some gorgeous DSP like the Retiring-soon Magnolia Lane paper (and – it’s got a GREAT price right now)!  I hope you like!

And I’m SO happy that the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and coordinating Magnolia Memories Dies are carrying over!

Do remember, though – that the BUNDLE pricing (with its 10% Savings) WILL go away when this catalog ends.  You’ll have to purchase the stamp set and dies separately in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!

Just sayin’….

Stampin’ Up! It Starts with Art Thanks!

Happy Happy Hawwwmp Day!  Hope all is right and well in your world – and that you’re safe and healthy!

Speaking of COVID-19, do take a minute to check out the Stampin’ Up! Give-Back digital stamp set called Share Sunshine!  100% of the proceeds will go to one of two organizations supporting the fight.  Scroll on down for the deets and a link to download the FIFTEEN pages of cool sentiments!!

My card today uses a few retiring goodies that you need to snap up while you still can – starting with the It Starts With Art stamp set, the matching Arts & Crafts Dies and the fun Follow Your Art DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.

I started with two panels of the Follow Your Art DSP – both cut the same size as the card front (4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″) – and I adhered one to the front of a Pacific Point card base and the second on the inside, using Liquid Glue.

I used the Ornate Layers Dies to cut a Whisper White panel and then placed it in my Stamparatus.  I stamped the sentiment from It Starts With Art in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Then I popped the panel onto a Calypso Coral “mat” with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the three pens/markers in Tuxedo Black on Whisper White and colored them with my Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends Combos.  Then I cut them with the coordinating die in the Arts & Crafts Die Set.

I popped the die cut pens and markers onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final piece is a tiny heart trinket from the Follow Your Art Embellishment Kit, adhered in the corner with a Glue Dot.  The kit (which is on SALE for just $6.60!) also includes some Linen Thread in Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral.  I took a double length of the Bermuda Bay and tied a bow, then adhered it to the heart trinket with a Glue Dot.

I adhered the whole thing to the card front with Liquid Glue and that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from the Retiring Varied Vases stamp set in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel.  Across the bottom, I stamped the ink bottles from It Starts With Art in Tuxedo Black and colored them with the Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends Combos.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Calypso Coral mat and into the card base and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more ink bottles on the front…

…and a little Follow Your Art DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Isn’t this just the perfect group of goodies for us as crafters!??  I think It Starts With Art is very aptly named – and it’s so cool that the Arts & Crafts Dies (on sale for $11.60!) help us cut out so many of the images to use, don’t you?!  Finally – the Follow Your Art DSP is bright and cheery and fun.  And on a really good sale – just $4.60 for the pack!!  I hope you like – and will get them soon.  Remember, only the stamp set is guaranteed to be around thru the end of the catalog!  All the other items are only available while supplies last!

Stampin’ Up! Best Catch Fun Fold with Video Tutorial for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a nice, open sketch challenge from the talented Laurie this week and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo!  I hope you’ll come and play along.  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

Today is Wayne’s birthday so I made him a card!  And, since he’s a fisherman and…a guy!…a fun-fold with a fishing theme seemed like the way to go.  It ended up being kind of an homage to several wonderful retiring goodies – including the Best Catch stamp set and bundled Catch of the Day die set.  Take a look-see:

And here’s this week’s Paper Players CAS challenge!  Hope you’ll join the fun and show us your projects!  I can’t wait to see what you create!  🙂

I also played along with the TGIF Challenge this week!

I started with a piece of Night of Navy card stock that I embossed in the High Seas 3D Embossing Folder (yes – this is RETIRING, so…get it quick!).  Then I matted it on a piece of Soft Suede for the card front.

The accordian fold is 4 1/4″ x 9″.  I colored the “sky” with my Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends Combo and the ground with my Crumb Cake Combo.  Then, using the little “gravel” image in the Best Catch set, I stamped all over the “ground” in Soft Suede.  I stamped the image two or three times without re-inking.

Next, I scored the panel with my Simply Scored tool at 1″, 2″, 4″ and 6″.  I burnished the folds – starting with a “mountain” at 1″ and then valley (2″), mountain (4″) and valley (6″).

On the third panel, in Night of Navy ink, I stamped a sentiment from Best Catch.  Then I adhered the folded panel to a Soft Suede mat and onto the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Whisper White – I made a big ole splotch of Old Olive using my Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Combo.  I just used both blends to scribble a big enough “background” to cut three of the grass dies in the Catch of the Day set.  While I had it out, I also cut four of them from the Old Olive color in the Perennial Essence Vellum (Retiring).

I colored all the tops of the cattails with the Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend.

The Best Catch bass is stamped in Soft Suede on Whisper White and cut with the matching Catch of the Day die. Then I colored it with my Old Olive, Calypso Coral and Early Espresso Watercolor Pencils.

Finally, I stamped the fisher-dude in Soft Suede, and cut him with his die.  He’s also colored with the Watercolor Pencils.  His little “water” swirly is colored with the Balmy Blue Blends.

Using Liquid Glue (or Glue Dots for the vellum grasses), I adhered the pieces on various panels – being sure to not interfere with the folds!  I nestled the bass in and amongst some grass…and used my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker to hand-draw a few birds in the corner.

The final piece is the sentiment.  It’s a word cut with the Well Written Dies (yep – also retiring!).  I cut three of them in Night of Navy and adhered them in a stack with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered just the first part of the sentiment to the first panel.  and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment (this one is from the Bonanza Buddies stamp set – which is retiring, too!) in Night of Navy to a Whisper White panel.  I colored some “shore” at the bottom of the panel and stamped the creel in Soft Suede and a hat in Crumb Cake.  I lightly colored both images with my Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend and the Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Suede mat and into my Night of Navy card base, and to adhere the card front and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more shoreline and Best Catch fishing gear on the front…

…and I added a little Come Sail Away DSP (you guessed it….going away!) on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So – this card – with it’s Best Catch, Catch of the Day, Bonanza Buddies, Well Written, Come Sail Away DSP, Perennial Essence Vellum and High Seas 3D Embossing Folder (whew!) – is a true memoriam to some wonderful products that will be gone-baby-gone SOON!  So – if you don’t have them in your stash, you need to remedy that right away!  Remember – while the stamps will for sure be around thru the end of the catalog – ALL the rest is “while supplies last”.  So…tarry not!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Now – before you reach for your ink and papers, check out what our amazing team has created to inspire you this week:

Stampin’ Up! Best Catch Video Tutorial Sneak Peek

‘Sup, y’all!?  Well – our first day back “open” looked a lot (to us) like the previous day “closed”.  I have zero intention of doing much different any time soon.

Well, I mean except for the three massages, hair cut and tattoo I have scheduled for this afternoon! 😉

Just kidding.

It’s only two massages.

Really – totally kidding.  But I DO rather desperately need a haircut…

Since none of that’s really going to happen, I’ll be planning to go live tonight at 7pm Eastern on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page!  We’re going to make a fun fun-fold card and decorate it up with the Best Catch bundle.  Which is retiring.  In fact, the whole card is kind of an homage to the retiring list!  Take a sneaky peek!

It’s a fun one that I think you’ll enjoy – so I hope you’ll be able to join me!

Tonight.  7pm Eastern.  Right here.

Finn Fan Fix

Finn yielded the floor to his tiny-terrorist sister today.

He was too scared not to let her have her way!

What her people see:

What she – and sometimes Finn!! – sees!

Yeah.  You’d give up your spot, too! 😉
