Mother’s Day

Stampin’ Up! Just Because Woven Heirlooms Sneak Peek for Mother’s Day

Good morning, y’all!  Happy Mother’s Day!  Hope you’ve got plans to celebrate or BE celebrated today!  Wish I was closer to MY mom today!

My card is a Mother’s Day card (talk about outside the box) using a retiring Host Exclusive stamp set called Just Because – that I paired up with some new Woven Threads DSP and a fun textures image from the new Woven Heirlooms stamp set (the Woven Threads suite will be available on 4 Jun to customers!).  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Global Design Project’s CASE The Designer challenge…the card we had for inspiration came from my friend Brian King.

I started by matting a piece of new Woven Threads DSP on a Rococco Rose panel for the card front.

The art, from the Just Because host-exclusive set in the 2019 Occasions Catalog, is stamped on Whisper White.  I used my Stamparatus and first masked off the words and stamped just the flowers and vase in Tuxedo Black.  Then I masked the flowers to ink the sentiment portion in Pretty Peacock and stamped that.

I cut out the image with two Rectangle Stitched Dies.

I adhered the outer frame to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a different design of the new Woven Threads DSP, I stamped the vase again in Tuxedo Black and fussy cut it.  I went over all the lines of the image with my Journaling Pen and then adhered it over the stamped vase.

Using a Blender Pen and ink from the top of my Rococco Rose Classic Ink Pad, I colored the leaves – some I colored more than once so that some are dark, some light!  I popped the panel into place with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a new 2019-2021 In Color Faceted Dot in Rococco Rose and the card front was done.

On the inside, I used the long texture stamp in the Woven Heirlooms stamp set coming on 4 June and inked it in Rococco Rose.  I stamped it off twice on scrap paper and then stamped it four times without re-inking up the corner of a Whisper White panel.  Using my Stamparatus and some Sticky Note masks, I added another sentiment from Just Because in Pretty Peacock.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Rococco Rose mat and into my Pretty Peacock card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the same Rococco Rose Woven Heirlooms treatment in two corners…

…and some more Woven Threads DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I do believe this Just Because set has the best sentiments, don’t you?  Especially perfect for Mother’s Day!  I hope you’ll get it before it’s gone – remember it’s a host set, so…gotta getcha some Stampin’ Rewards to be able to get it!  And I love the vintage texture we can get from the new Woven Heirlooms stamp set – this was my Prize Patrol gift from OnStage.  Since it’s smack in my wheelhouse, I was thrilled as you might imagine! 🙂

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Well – the Man turned himself pretty much inside-out when he realized I was home on Friday night!

I didn’t get back until around 8:30 – and Wayne left him in the house while he rode up to the gate to let me in.

Once I was parked, Wayne opened the back door and out he came.

His first response was to…BARK – cuz…. “DAD – THERE’S A STRANGE CAR IN THE DRIVEWA…..Mooooooooom?!?!?”

And then…I had to brace.  Cuz here came out there 75 pounds of Aussie!

Once the initial impact was past – there was wild wiggling and panting and grinning!

And Finn was pretty wound up, too! 😉

Sure glad to see that face!

Happy Saturday, my peeps!  Hope your weekend has started off well!  Mine started yesterday when I put my work phone on the charger – where it’ll stay until Tuesday morning.  Whoo-hooo for three day weekends!

Stampin’ Up! Delightful Daisy Video Sneak Peek

Mornin’, y’all!  Having a good weekend??  I hope so.  We did some mowing yesterday – I rode the small zero-turn mower and Wayne worked the skid steer mower.  Everything looks so pretty when it’s all mowed and fresh looking.  And it smells so good!

We’re headed to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II today – I’ve heard great things about it already!  I’m even going to splurge and have popcorn! 🙂

So – tonight, on my Facebook Live video, we’re going to do two things.  First I’m going to spend a few minutes talking about the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and showing you how to use it.  Had a request, so that’s what we’re going to do!  Then, I’ll walk you thru a very pretty, springy Mother’s Day card using my favorite new Suite – the Delightful Daisy Suite!  Here’s a teaser…

Yep – you see a little peek of an Eastern Medallion!  Fun, huh?

You’ll see that I played with two challenges on this one.  The first inspired the layout and my choice of DSP.  That one’s the Sugar Pea Designs Mix It Up Challenge.

And the Mother’s Day theme is from the Just Us Girls Word Week challenge.

So – hope you can join me tonight – right here – at 8pm Eastern!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Did you guys watch the Derby yesterday?

I’ve vowed to boycott it, but every year we end up watching.

I’m married to a former jockey, so…interest is high.

This is how we watch the Derby here.  He’s usually exhorting one or the other jocks to push, “quit whoopin’ on him and ride”, go around, better get movin’ or some other sage advice.

He also can usually pick the winner before they’re half way down the back stretch.

It’s actually a pretty fun way to watch the race!

Finn cared not one whit.

He was more interested in me stuffing his treat ball with freeze dried liver chunks.

Seriously – I thought he was going to fall over he was tilting his head so far!!  I think he was counting how many I was stuffing in there.

He’s kind of a goofus.

Stampin’ Up! Succulents for Mother’s Day for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

15822762_10211923272945503_223384966683691578_n

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  If you’ve been following along, you’ll know this is a color challenge week – I hope you’ll take a few minutes to browse all the projects brought to you by the talented ladies in our hop group! 🙂

Here’s our color scheme – definitely one that’s in my wheelhouse!

15590489_10211887776538115_4326421003536483901_n
I used the Succulent Garden Suite of goodies to make my card – the Succulent Garden DSP, Oh So Succulent stamp set and the Succulents Framelits.  I know it’s kind of an obvious choice with these colors – maybe too obvious – but….it’s obvious for a reason, okay?? 🙂  Take a look-see:

succulent-garden-mothers-da-4-stamps-n-lingers
I used the Mojo Monday sketch challenge to help with my card layout.

mm-483
To begin, I matted three different designs from the Succulent Garden DSP on Old Olive card stock, then I SNAILd the smaller panels to the card front.

Then I made a sentiment panel – stamping the Oh So Succulent sentiment in Old Olive on Whisper White.  The sentiment image was too long for what I was doing, so I inked the first part only, stamped it, cleaned the stamp, inked the second half – and stamped it under the first image.

succulent-garden-mothers-day-2-stamps-n-lingers
I matted it on Old Olive and SNAILd it in place.

Using a piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, I ran a length across the card, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  I used a second piece and pulled all the strands out, wrapped them around the ribbon on the card, and tied a tight knot.

Next, I added the Lace Doily with the Whisper White Side up.

All that remained was to build my succulent flower!  I cut two of each of the three sizes of flowers – one each in Old Olive and Mint Macaron.  Then I used the little “end” stamps in the Oh So Succulent stamp set and stamped the little tips in Whisper White Craft Ink.  I used my Bone Folder to lightly curl all the tips of the flowers and then stacked them up with Liquid Glue.

succulent-garden-mothers-day-1-stamps-n-lingers
The center is a few Mint Macaron flowers – the ones that look a little like daisies – adhered with Liquid Glue.

succulent-garden-mothers-day-8-stamps-n-lingers
Wait a hot second!!  What’s that in the middle?

That, my friends, is a little flower cut with the new (available-to-customers on 21 Feb) Sale-A-Bration Glimmer Paper!  That paper will come in Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay and Sweet Sugarplum!

second-sab-2-stamps-n-lingers
I cut that Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper flower and added it in with a little more Liquid Glue, adhered the flower to the card front with Liquid Glue – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Oh So Succulent sentiment in Old Olive on a Whisper White panel.  In the bottom corner, I added a couple of succulent flowers.  I stamped the middle flower first, using Old Olive for the outline and Mint Macaron for the fill image.  Then I stuck a sticky note mask (that I’d remembered to save from the last time I used this set!), and added two smaller flowers.  Those are stamped in Tip Top Taupe for the outline and stamped-off-once Tip Top Taupe for the fill.

succulent-garden-mothers-day-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Tip Top Taupe card base, SNAILd the card front on, and the card was done!

I added the same three Oh So Succulent flowers to the front of my Whisper White Envelope…

succulent-garden-mothers-day-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and gave the envelope flap a little more of the Succulent Garden DSP.

succulent-garden-mothers-day-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  An organic and earthy card, made with one of my favorite suites in the Occasions catalog – the Succulent Garden!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Dragonfly Dreams and Details Sneak Peek for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!  We had a fun – and interesting! – sketch challenge to work with this week.  I figure you’ll see some Christmas, some Sneak Peeks, some…who’s to say?!  I hope you’ll spend some time scrolling thru all the Blog Hoppers’ offerings today!

Here’s our sketch!

14088475_10210533701207078_5690154385464549913_n
I decided to play around a little with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits – and used a cool technique called Embossed Impressions.  I saw a card on Pinterest and discovered a great video from Jennifer McGuire – which you can check out right here!  I used the matching Dragonfly Dreams stamp set – which you’ll be able to get as a 10%-off bundle when the 2017 Occasions Catalog comes out in January.

Take a look-see:

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-4-stamps-n-lingersAfter I watched Jennifer’s video, I decided to use some Island Indigo card stock to bring out the shimmery dragonfly wings.  Before I started my embossing, though, I used the dots image from Dragonfly Dreams to stamp in Island Indigo across the top of the panel (you probably noticed I turned the sketch on its side!).

Then I rubbed the panel with my Embossing Buddy.  To emboss the dragonflies, I made my Big Shot sandwich:  cutting plate, Silicon embossing mat (from Amazon), thinlit with the cutting side up, card stock, additional piece of card stock as a shim, silicon mat, cutting plate.  Before building the sandwich, I gently tapped the cutting edge of my thinlit with Versamark Ink.  Then I was really careful to not move the thinlit once I got everything laid down.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-3-stamps-n-lingers
I embossed the panel, removed the card stock from the Big Shot sandwich and sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Be sure you check for any stray embossing powder and brush it off carefully before heating.  Then, using my Clear Wink of Stella, I brushed the raised portions of the dragonfly wings.  I love how it makes them look iridescent!

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-8-stamps-n-lingers
I matted the panel on Silver Foil, then ran a length of coming-soon White/Silver 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon (this is a FREE Sale-A-Bration item!) around the card front and secured it in the back with scotch tape.

The sentiment, from Dragonfly Dreams, is heat embossed in Silver.

For the large dragonfly, I repeated the same embossing technique that I used for the card front.  Then, when it was all cool, I used the outline die to cut out the dragonfly.  And I cut a second solid dragonfly from Silver Foil.  I brushed the raised parts of the wings and then used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the two dragonflies together.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-2-stamps-n-lingers
I stuck pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional all over the back of the dragonfly and used them to adhere loops of Silver Metallic Thread behind it, then popped it on the card front.  I added a little row of Rhinestone Basic Jewels under the sentiment and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the Dragonfly Dreams dots image across the top of a Whisper White panel, using Island Indigo ink that I stamped off once before stamping the panel.  Then I added a second sentiment, heat embossing it in Silver.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Silver Foil mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more stamped-off-once-Island-Indigo dots from Dragonfly Dreams across the front…

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and also across the envelope flap.

dreamy-dragonfly-embossed-impressions-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I kind of love this technique and hope you’ll give it a try, too.  And the Dragonfly Dream bundle is going to be a heavy favorite when the Occasions Catalog goes live!  Hope you like.

Congratulations, Chris – I’ll be sending an e-mail shortly to get your address and then packing your Blog Candy and getting it on its way to you!  Thanks to all who left a comment!  There’s a lot to love about Stampin’ Up!, but it seems that the coordination of the colors across all the products and the high quality are the two things most appreciated!

Thanks for helping me celebrate two years as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, y’all!

Year End Closeouts and 2017 Holiday Catalog Retiring Products

year-end-closeout-graphic

Promotion period: December 1, 2016 – January 3, 2017

  • All products (and discounts, if any) can be found in the Year-End Closeouts category of the online store. Check it right here!
  • Here’s a download with the Initial List of Retiring Items, but the very best way to know what’s still available is to go to the Online Store!  Hint:  There’s a lot under the “Everything” section – and be sure to Show “All”!
  • This is a great list of all the items on Clearance, on the Retiring List and in excess inventory.  Use it as you will.  Note, though, that this list won’t be updated as things sell out!
  • No minimum purchase is required to participate in Year-End Closeouts.
  • Year-End Closeouts are eligible for Stampin’ Rewards with qualifying orders.
  • New demonstrators may add Year-End Closeouts items to their Starter Kit.
    • Hint – this is a great way to make that $99 investment go even further!
