Stampin’ Up! Something for You Gift Box for Halloween

As promised, I thought I might share one of the cute projects we did at WCMD on Saturday!  This is a little box, ready for gift giving at Halloween.  It uses a Stampin’ Up! Tag a Bag Gift Box (you get 8 of these for $7.00 in a pack!), a little Happy Haunting DSP and a Spider Web Doily.  The sentiment is from A Little Something.  Take a look-see:

When you buy the gift box pack, everything comes flat.  Your first move is to assemble the box – which means you just put a few flaps in a few slots and you’ve got a box!  Then you just unfold the acetate lid and it becomes a square sleeve that slides onto the box.  When you’ve done that, you’ll determine where the “bottom” of the sleeve is – it’s the one where you see the overlapping edges – when you slide the sleeve onto the box, that would go on the bottom.

Lay the acetate sleeve back flat and then lay the Spider Web Doily over the top panel and create a crease for the doily to go down the sides.  You do this for both sides of the doily.

Open the sleeve back up and slide your box into it.  Using some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, or the new Fine Tip Glue Pen, lightly dab glue on the WHITE side of the doily.  Then lay it back on the sleeve and gently press it down all around the box.

Cut a 2″ wide strip, 12″ long, of Happy Haunting DSP.  Wrap it around the box, over the Spider Web Doily, and adhere it on the bottom with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  The strip will be a little too long, so trim the excess before you glue it down.

To make the sentiment tag, stamp the Trick or Treat sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Use the second smallest label framelit in the Tags and Labels Framelits set to cut the sentiment out.  The other two pieces are cut from Black Glimmer Paper (using the largest Label die) and a piece of Tangelo Twist card stock (using the third smallest label die – this set gives you a LOT of label-love bang for your buck!!).  Take your two small Tangelo Twist tags and adhere them to the end of the label.  Those little guys are punched with the Banner Punch.

Halloween Gift Box 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Here’s a trick that we learned at the WCMD event.  We all know that it’s not always easy to adhere things to the Glimmer Paper, right?  So….use a small circle punch (we used the 3/4″ Circle Punch), and punch a hole right in the center of the Black Glimmer Paper label you just cut.  Use Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the black label to the Happy Haunting DSP strip (let about half of it hang off…).  Stick a Stampin’ Dimensional to the DSP strip, in the center of the hole that you punched in the label.

Stick the sentiment label to the Tangelo Twist label with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and then adhere it to the Stampin’ Dimensional that’s stuck to the DSP.  Cool, huh?  You stuck the label down – it looks like it’s stuck to the Glimmer Paper – but it’s really stuck to a Stampin’ Dimensional.  That Brian King is so clever!! 🙂

Now, to take it one step further, you can stamp a simple piece of white gift box tissue all over with Basic Black or Tuxedo Black – doesn’t matter – spiders from the A Little Something stamp set.  Way too cute!

Obviously, you could modify this exact design for another special occasion or holiday gift – right?  How about trimming all the pointy ends off the doily, and adhering it to the box with the WHITE side showing?  Then use some of the Home for Christmas snowflake DSP, Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper (instead of the Black), perhaps Night of Navy or Soft Sky card stock for the frame label (instead of Tangelo Twist).  And a different sentiment in a coordinating color.  I’d probably add a Snowflake Element, or a Winter Wonderland Embellishment, too.  And you’ve got Christmas!

Use your imagination – these little boxes would work for baked treats, candies or even the dreaded socks!! 😉  Have fun with the tools that Stampin’ Up! provides us with!

Hope you’ve enjoyed this little project.

Have as fun a day as a Monday can be!  I’ll be back tomorrow with the new Weekly Deals (so….if you want THIS week’s offerings, today’s the last day!) and updates from the company.
