Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here Just Sending the Greatest Greetings!

Good Friday, y’all!  Welcome to the last day of September!  And, for a minute, it’s going to be Fall!  It’s lovely here today!

Funny story. Well – not really funny ha-ha, more like funny you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me!

Remember this card?
large-letters-outdoor-adventure-4-stamps-n-lingers
Right.  Yesterday, I printed out my shipping label (gotta love Click-and-Ship from the Post Office).  Then I carefully wrapped a little gift up in tissue, wrote my little note to my friend and his wife on my cute little card, and stuck it in my Small Flat Rate box.  Then I zipped up to the mailbox and stuck it in there with a couple of other packages.  Plenty of time for the post to run.  Congratulating myself all the way.

Last night, as I was getting ready for bed, I happened to glance at the printer.  On it was a USPS label.

To my friend.  In Wisconsin.  I stared at it stupidly for a moment, trying to figure out why there was a label to Len on the printer.

You already know – right?

Yup.  I mailed the little box with no postage.

Or address.

Or return address.

Nada.  Zip.  Zilch.  Nutin’.

Which means they can’t even return it to me.  I called the PO this morning.  Unless my mail lady happens to have looked at it when she got back to the Post Office, and remembered where she’d picked it up, and remembered to put it in her truck this morning….my little box has gone to the dead letter office.  Of which there is one.  One.  In the entire country!

My little box is sitting next to the thousands of letters to Santa and the Tooth Fairy.  Probably never to be seen again. 🙁

Sigh….I guess I’ll give it a day or two and then re-make the card and try again!

My brain….what in the world!??!

For today, though, no duplicate card.  Well…that’s not entirely true.  You see, I made another card for my friend, this time a Get Well card.  She just loves the Sitting Here stamp set and requests it every time!  I’m maybe going to have to tell her it did a Note 7 on me…

🙂

Too soon?  Sorry.

Anywho – I made her card with the Sitting Here swing (converted to a bench) and the dog in his bed.  I added some Petals & Paisleys DSP and a couple of sentiments from the Greatest Greetings stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Pines Simple Joys for CAS(E) This Sketch

Good morning – again!  This is my second post for the day – if you’re looking for my Happy Stampers Blog Hop card, check it out here!

I was honored and amazed when the talented ladies over at CAS(E) This Sketch asked me to be a Guest Designer for them!  Wow.  That’s kind of a big deal.

I accepted with gratitude – and trepidation!  So, here’s a little life lesson I’ve learned.  When you’re doing something big – like this was for me – you don’t pick this time to think outside of the box.   I mean, yea – there’s a time and a place for getting out of that box, but for me, this wasn’t it!  So, I ran into my wheelhouse, slammed the door behind me and huddled with my back in the corner.  Holding my This Christmas DSP, and the wonderful Christmas Pines bundle in front of me for protection! 🙂

Here’s the sketch they asked me to design to…be sure to head over there and check it out, okay?

cts-192-sketch
And – using the aforementioned protective stamps and thinlits and designer paper – here’s what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Snow Friends & Candy Canes for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop. We’ve got a sketch challenge for you this week – and there’s no telling what we’ll see!  I hope you’ll check out all the projects from the ladies-who-hop…

So, here’s the sketch for this week!

blog-hop-29-sept-16-sketch
This past weekend, at Amy Koenders’ business meeting, we all got to pick a “prize”.  Gift?  Amy put all our names in a hat and drew them out, then we got to go into the goody room and pick from several bundles-o’-fun.  Since I’ve taken my cue from my SU! “mom” (Amy), I had almost everything on the table!  Yikes!  But – I didn’t have the Snow Place stamp set and its matching Framelits called Snow Friends.

So…I snagged it up!  For this sketch, I combined it with some Candy Cane Lane DSP and the Endless Thanks stamp set.  Take a look-see:

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-4-stamps-n-lingers
Oh, yea – I also turned the sketch on it’s side.  Sorry – forgot to mention that!

I started with a Crumb Cake design from the Candy Cane Lane DSP (hey – this is one of the DSPs that’s in the Buy-Three-Get-One-Free sale starting on Saturday!), and I matted it on Real Red.  Then I wrapped a piece of the new Real Red 3/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My center artwork started with a Real Red scallop-edge circle, cut with the Circles Layering Framelits. Next came a smaller circle of Crumb Cake. Then I cut a circle from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper – of a size between the two circles.

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-1-stamps-n-lingers
Using the Outdoor Adventure Edgelit, I cut across the Glimmer Paper Circle to make a tree-y background and adhered that to the layered circle with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  For the stars, I used the little stars die in the Detailed Santa Thinlits, and cut them from more Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  They’re adhered with dabs of Liquid Glue.

Then it was time to make my snowman!

I stamped the large snowman image in the Snow Place stamp set, in Pool Party ink on a piece of Whisper White card stock, and cut him with the matching die in Snow Friends.

I brushed him all over with Clear Wink of Stella, to make him shimmery.  Across the bottom, I smeared some Liquid Glue, and then dipped it in my Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.  Using my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, I colored his face (colored over the Pool Party), and then made his nose into a real carrot with some Pumpkin Pie!

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-8-stamps-n-lingers
He’s dressed with items that all come from the Snow Place stamp set – cut with framelits in the Snow Friends set – no fussy cutting required!  Well, one tiny cut…

Everything is in Real Red, except his ear muffs.  I think he kind of rocks his Pacific Point muffs, don’t you?  His stick arms are in Early Espresso.  The only fussy cut I did was on the buttons.  There’s three buttons that stamp and cut at once – I only wanted two.  So I cut them apart.  But that was it!  Promise!

I adhered everything to him with Liquid Glue, and then adhered him to the card with SNAIL and Liquid Glue.

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-2-stamps-n-lingers
For my sentiment, I stamped the little “thanks” from the Endless Thanks stamp set in Real Red on a strip of Whisper White.  Then I snipped a banner end.  In lieu of an actual mat, I added a faux mat by edging the banner – pretty thickly! – with my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue – and that was it!

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-3-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Endless Thanks in Real Red on a Whisper White panel.  Then I added the small snowman from Snow Place in Pool Party.  I stamped his stick arms in Early Espresso and his ear muff in Pacific Point.  Once again I used the Early Espresso Marker to fix his face, and colored his nose with Pumpkin Pie.

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-5-stamps-n-lingers
I matted it on Real Red and Whisper White and then SNAILd it into my Real Red card base.  On the front, I SNAILd a Whisper White panel directly to the card base, then popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a second small Snow Place snowman on the front…

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and an envelope flap with some more of the Crumb Cake Candy Cane Lane DSP!

snow-friends-and-candy-canes-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  A snowy scene with uber-friendly snowmen, in a classic Red/Crumb Cake/White color scheme.  I think the expressions on their faces are just so stinkin’ cute, don’t you?  Hope you like! 🙂

Card cuts and all the products you need to make this one for yourself are at the bottom of this post…

Stampin’ Up! Wonder of Seasonal Bells for Christmas!

Mornin’ y’all!  It’s Hawwwmp Day! 🙂

And – for the Deatherage family – it’s the middle of do-the-taxes week.  Yes, we always do our taxes in October.  For as long as we’ve been doing taxes together.

And I.  Hate.  Doing.  Our.  Taxes.  Almost as much as I hate housecleaning.  The only difference is the whole once-a-year versus the every-freakin’-week thing.

Doing the taxes makes me grumpy.  Like….Marcia-when-she-hasn’t-eaten-and-no-one-has-a-Snickers grumpy.  Like…PMSing-in-the-desert-in-a-dirty-house-while-hungry-like-Marcia-and-no-one-has-a-Snickers grumpy.  Catch my drift?

And – that grumpiness doesn’t really lend itself to creativity!  It really really wants that Snickers bar!

So, when I finally sat down to make a card, I wanted – nay…needed – a quick and easy something!  And I really thought I’d achieved my goal.  I combined some Seasonal Bells, and Wonder of Christmas, and a little Holly Berry Happiness – lots of easy punches! – and some Presents & Pinecones DSP.  Take a look-see:

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-1-stamps-n-lingers
This is from a sketch that came out a couple days ago, from Sunday Stamps, and I right away wanted to to do something with it.  Sunday Stamps Challenge #136:

ssc-136-sketch
To start, I SNAILd a piece of Presents & Pinecones DSP to a Cherry Cobbler mat.  Then I ran a piece of Whisper White card stock thru the Big Shot in the Holly TIEF, and sliced it into three strips.  I matted them all on Cherry Cobbler, and SNAILd them to the card front – being sure to attached them in the same order and orientation as they were before I cut the panel up.

Did that make sense?

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-3-stamps-n-lingers
For my bells, I inked two of the images from the Seasonal Bells stamp set in Versamark, stamped them on Whisper White card stock, and heat embossed them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Then I punched them with the bundled Bell Punch.  I gently rolled each bell – since bells are round and all that! – and adhered them together in bell-like fashion with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue at the top.

Next came the sentiment – which is from the Wonder of Christmas stamp set – stamped in Emerald Envy on Whisper White, and matted on Cherry Cobbler.  I adhered it over the triptych (that’s the fancy name for this kind of three-panel image!) with some Liquid Glue.

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-2-stamps-n-lingers
I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the bells over the sentiment banner and then added a little silver holly sprig from the Christmas Trinkets Embellishments with a Glue Dot.  Over that, with another Glue Dot, I stuck a little bow tied from a piece of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine and Gold Baker’s Twine.

The last piece is a little holly spring – which I made with the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set.  I stamped two of the small holly leaves in Emerald Envy, then added the outline image in Basic Black Archival Ink.  I stamped one of the berry-trio images in Cherry Cobbler and added the outline image.  Then I punched them all out with the bundled Holly Builder Punch, and adhered them to the end of the banner with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-9-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I added a second sentiment from the Wonder of Christmas set, in Emerald Envy, on a panel of Whisper White.  I stamped some more Holly Berry leaves onto the panel, and then punched out another trio of berries and stuck it over the leaves with Liquid Glue.

I matted the panel on Cherry Cobbler and SNAILd it into my Emerald Envy card base.

At least….that was the plan.  Cuz…this is where the grumpiness and stress of tax day hit.

See anything wrong with the next picture?

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-8-stamps-n-lingers
Go ahead – take a minute.

No – it’s not the fact that it’s kind of crumpled up.

Get it yet?

Yep.  The card front is landscape.  This….this is most definetly not landscape! 🙁 🙁 🙁

I said bad words.  A lot of them.  And crumpled the danged thing up and tossed it.  And said a few more bad words.

Please note – I’d already cleaned up my stamps and put everything away – in a surfeit of (highly irregular!) neatness and organizational efficiency.

This did not make things better!

So, grumbling about Snicker’s bars and flat taxes,  I pulled everything back out and I re-did the panel.  And SNAILd it into my Emerald Envy card base.

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-5-stamps-n-lingers
I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was….finally!…done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got two more Holly Berry Happiness sprigs on the front…

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and a little more Presents & Pinecones DSP on the envelope flap.

wonder-of-seasonal-bells-for-christmas-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  This really was an easy card to make.  Really!  And the three-panel design is one of my favorites.  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Large Letters Outdoor Adventure

Mornin’, y’all – how’s your week going?  I’ve seen some things from folk around the country making me think – enviously! – that Fall is happening somewhere!  If that’s you – congratulations.  We’re still waiting.

I have a friend (yes, I really do!) who was my “rock” on all my adventures in California.  Without him, everything I was able to accomplish there…well.  Wouldn’t have happened!  He was a work acquaintance who rapidly turned into a good friend.  He’s the guy who brought tomato bags and plants and we planted tomatoes when I was there in the summer – cuz he knew I was missing my garden.

He mailed me cheese curds from WI – cuz he knows I like them.

He sends me links to stuff he knows I’ll be interested in.

He retired.  For real.  Oh – he’d threatened it before, but…like me…just never pulled the trigger.

Well – the trigger is pulled, the chamber is empty and he’s gone!  Moved to his log house on a lake in Wisconsin.

I’m trying to be happy for him.  Actually, I really am happy for him.  He worked hard and long and it was time for him to reap the benefit.

But…unless I pull my own trigger, I’ll be right back there in CA in a couple of years, without his help or his friendship.

So – my happiness is qualified by my selfish wish that everything would just stay the same, dang it! 😉  Cuz it’s going to be really hard without him.  And nothing will be the same there, ever again. 🙁

He arrived in his new spot this week – in fact today his furniture should be arriving!  I’m sending him a welcome home card.  I made it with the Large Letters Framelits, and some images from the Always an Adventure stamp set.  Take a look-see:

large-letters-outdoor-adventure-4-stamps-n-lingers
The design of this one is loosely based on the sketch from The Paper Players.  Sketch #314:

pp-314-sketch
Obviously, I turned it on its side…

I started with a piece of Serene Scenery DSP.  To decorate it, I first cut two pieces of Warmth & Cheer plaid DSP with the Outdoor Adventure thinlits.  Then I layered them at the bottom of the card with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I did snip one of the trees and move it over to the far left and adhere it by itself, just to even things out!

Across the top, I used the little “welcome” sentiment from the Live, Love, Grow stamp set, and stamped it all over in Island Indigo.

And screwed up two of the stamps.

large-letters-outdoor-adventure-2-stamps-n-lingers
Time to regroup.  I was further along than I like to be to start over, so….

Clouds!  Clouds would be good.  I stamped some Always an Adventure clouds in Island Indigo on Soft Sky card stock and cut them with their matching dies in Outdoor Adventure.  Then I adhered them across the “sky” with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, making sure I covered up my boo-boo’s! 🙂

The sentiment is cut from Island Indigo card stock, using the bold Large Letters Framelits.  The plain letters were a little boring, and they had to overlap, so I needed something to help them stand out from one another.  Enter…the Woodgrain TIEF.  I ran the letters thru in the TIEF – turning the “O” and the “E” so that they….wait for it….went against the grain of the “H”, “M” and “!”.

large-letters-outdoor-adventure-8-stamps-n-lingers
LOL

I just cwack myself up sometimes!

Anywho – then I adhered them to the card front.  The “H” and the “M” and the “!” I stuck directly to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The “O” and the “E” are popped up with Dimensionals.  You can also see that I offset them down just a tad….

I wrapped a length of Garden Green Baker’s Twine (Baker’s Twine Trio pack in the Holiday Catalog) and one of Linen Thread around the bottom of the panel, securing them in the back with scotch tape.  Then I used a couple of Glue Dots to stick down two Mini Pinecones.  Finally, I tied a little bow with the baker’s twine and the Linen Thread, and adhered it over the top with a dab of Liquid Glue!

large-letters-outdoor-adventure-9-stamps-n-lingers
Then I SNAILd the whole panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and the card front was done!

For the inside, I cut another piece of the plaid Warmth & Cheer DSP with the Outdoor Adventure Framelit, and adhered it across the bottom of a Whisper White panel with some Liquid Glue.  Then I added some more Always an Adventure clouds in Island Indigo across the top.

large-letters-outdoor-adventure-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to a Daffodil Delight mat and into my Island Indigo card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a few trees from the Always an Adventure set in Garden Green across the front (some are stamped off once) and some Island Indigo clouds…

large-letters-outdoor-adventure-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and added one last little piece of plaid Warmth & Cheer DSP to the envelope flap.

large-letters-outdoor-adventure-7-stamps-n-lingers

Et Voila!  I like how all the elements came together on this one – sort of pulled from here and from there and from this and that and the other!!  I think it’ll make him smile when he gets it.  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Home Sweet Home Tin of Tags

Mornin’ y’all!  We’re headed into the week when Fall arrives.  I know this because I have a huge hankerin’ for apple cider.  The kind in the refrigerator section – not in the shelves.  Or better – at an apple orchard somewhere in north Georgia!  The thick kind – that you can’t see thru.  So close to the apple that you almost have to chew it!

But you don’t.  Cuz of how it’s….liquid.  And if you boil it down to a thick syrup – you can make apple cider caramels.  Mmmmm.

Today (Sunday night), one of our neighbors apparently thinks it’s already October.  Cuz they’re burning leaves.  In the evening.  And the smoke is hanging thick in our pastures and around the barn.  And I’ve had to use my inhaler twice.  Hopefully our neighborly phone call to request that they extinguish said smoldering leaves will bear fruit (see how I made that connection?  apples?  fruit?) and she’ll douse it all the way.  And then hopefully the smoke will dissipate.  Please cross your fingers!

So, like I told you the other day, we had our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew meeting today.  I’m going to show you the fun projects we made, using the Sweet Home bundle, plus some Peaceful Pines, a little Tin of Tags, and….well.  Take a look-see:

home-sweet-home-tin-of-tags-4-stamps-n-lingers
Really – how cute are those?  The little house is a product of the Home Sweet Home Thinlits – the base is made in Crumb Cake and then we used Garden Green and Real Red for all the decorations.  This is a chock-a-block Thinlits set – it’s got 22 dies.  Everything you see has a die – with one exception.  The stripe-y strips are fussy cut.  We stamped them in Real Red on Whisper White and just quickly snipped them out.

Biggest tips for making the house: you cut two of the largest dies, and then adhere the two pieces together with convenient tabs.  You should cut out the windows and door before assembling the house, and it’s easier to decorate it before it’s put together, too.  Then use Tear & Tape Adhesive to assemble the house.

home-sweet-home-tin-of-tags-3-stamps-n-lingers
For the card, we used a piece of Soft Sky card stock, and stamped the snowy image from Christmas Pines all over it in Soft Sky ink, then SNAILd it to a Whisper White mat.

The sentiment is from Tin of Tags, and it’s heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I stuck one little Rhinestone Basic Jewel up there in the corner, just for ducks.

Now, the house.   Do you guys watch the show called Fixer Upper?  On it, an uber-talented couple in Waco, TX remodel homes for folks down there – taking the very worst houses and turning them into marvelous homes.  She uses shiplap a lot – and it’s wonderful.  With Crumb Cake ink, we added the “shiplap” image from the Sweet Home stamp set down a piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  Shiplap even looks good on a card stock house, huh?

Then we cut out one of the large Home Sweet Home die cuts and snipped out just the house portion.  Using the window die, we cut a window in the “eave” and a Whisper White window “frame”.

home-sweet-home-tin-of-tags-2-stamps-n-lingers
I adhered the frame to the house with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, and then stuck a piece of So Saffron card stock behind it (to make the room appear lit up!).

The door is stamped in Real Red and cut with its matching die, then adhered with Liquid Glue.

We made the banner over the door by stamping the image from the Sweet Home stamp set in Real Red, and the banner image in Garden Green, and cutting it with its die.  See?  I told you there’s not a lot of fussy cutting required with this bundle!  The banner is adhered with Liquid Glue, as are the two stripe-y strips for the roof.  And I had a Garden Green gumdrop leftover from my house, so I stuck it up there in the peak of the roof!

home-sweet-home-tin-of-tags-5-stamps-n-lingers
The snow is a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, cut with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits (is this not like the most versatile thinlit set ever?!?), and adhered to the bottom of the panel with a little Liquid Glue.  Then I popped the house over it all with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I stamped some more Soft Sky snow from Christmas Pines across the top of a Whisper White panel.  The sentiment, from Peaceful Pines (Annual Catalog), is stamped in Real Red.

home-sweet-home-tin-of-tags-6-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel into my Real Red card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

On the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped more Soft Sky Christmas Pines snow across the front and the back flap…

home-sweet-home-tin-of-tags-7-stamps-n-lingers
aaaand you totally can’t see the Soft Sky snow on the envelope.  Sorry!  You’ll just have to take my word that they’re there.  You know I’m not going to be putting out any nekkid envelopes, people! 🙂

Et Voila – one giant bundle, plus a few sentiments here and there – and you’ve got a card and a darling little 3-D house!  What’s not to love?  Hope you like!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Textured Basket of Wishes!

Good morning, y’all – happy Sunday!  Today’s going to be fun – we’ve got our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew “business” meeting!  I put it in quotes, cuz – while we do take care of some business, we also eat our lunch and make a few projects.  And it’s really fun to get to be with some of our fellow demonstrators who are lucky enough to be in Amy Koenders’ downline!  I’m always glad when I get to be home when the “in person” meetings are being held!

Wayne made it safely home, a smidge before I got the house as “done” as I’d planned, but…it’s all good!  Good to have him back in the house – even if there’s the usual adjustment period.  Dinner on a schedule, sharing the remote, socks on the coffee table.  Not the ones with his feet in them – the ones he takes off at the end of the day!  It’s his version of dropping his underwear on the floor – which he doesn’t do! LOL.  But, as I said, it’s good to have him home!  I know his mom is missing having him there with her in the rehab center. 🙁

My card for today is a bit of an homage to Fall – cuz I know it’s going to get here soon!  Weather folks on tv say Wednesday.

So…you know that’s gonna happen, right? 😉

I used the pretty Basket of Wishes stamp set from the Holiday catalog and one of my favorite texture sets – Touches of Texture – from the Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-4-stamps-n-lingers
This one plays along with two challenges.  The first is the Viva La Verve sketch challenge – the second challenge for September:

vlvsep2016-sketch
And I also used a Photo Week challenge from Just Us Girls.  Challenge #362:

jugs-362-sketch
I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, which I tore all around the edges.  Then I used the big splattering of tiny dots image from Touches of Texture, stamping it all over in Crumb Cake ink.  Sometimes full strength and sometimes stamping a second time without re-inking.  Then I added the flower image, all over (leaving a blank spot for my sentiment) in Delightful Dijon.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-1-stamps-n-lingers
I cut a piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon – the same length as the card – and used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to the panel.

The sentiment, from Basket of Wishes, I stamped in the corner in Early Espresso.

For my art, I matted a small piece of Serene Scenery DSP to a Delightful Dijon mat and popped it over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I cut two pieces with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits – one in Crumb Cake and one in Cajun Craze.  To give them some texture, I used the same dots image from Touches of Texture and stamped all over the die cuts in Early Espresso ink.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the card.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-2-stamps-n-lingers
The focal art is from Basket of Wishes.  I stamped the basket in Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla, then added the flower bunch in Soft Suede.  I colored the image with my Clear Wink of Stella brush – using Soft Suede on the basket, and Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, and Old Olive on the flowers.  Then I cut it out using a die from the Circles Layering Framelits.

I got the bright idea to make the circle look a little like a sunflower.  So…I punched a flower with my Flower Medallion Punch from a piece of Delightful Dijon.  Then I made some stitches all around the edge of the flower with my Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Marker.

I added the circle with some Liquid Glue – and then it seemed like a good idea to add some stitches to that as well, so I did!

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-8-stamps-n-lingers
The final touch – see him up there? – is a little buzz-bee from the….Jar of Love stamp set!  I stamped him with Early Espresso ink on some Vellum card stock, adding some Crushed Curry to his body with my marker and cut him with his little die in the Everyday Jars Framelit set.  Then I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to add him to the basket – and the card front was done!

It’s mounted a little differently than usual – I SNAILd a panel of Delightful Dijon to my Crumb Cake card base – then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-3-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I tore the edges of another piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  Then I stamped around the edges with the Touches of Texture in Crumb Cake.  In the middle, I stamped the flower image, in Delightful Dijon – stamping off twice before I stamped the card.

Then I SNAILd it to a Delightful Dijon mat and into my Crumb Cake card base.  And that was it!

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-5-stamps-n-lingers
On my Crumb Cake Medium Envelope, I stamped more of the Touches of Texture flower in Delightful Dijon on the front…

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and then I borrowed an idea from my friend and downline Beth Hooper (check her card out here!), and added the little flower image from Basket of Wishes to the envelope flap.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  This one has a lot going on, but I think it works!  I love Touches of Texture for all the possibilities it gives you.  And, of course, Basket of Wishes is just flat beautiful! Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Jolly Friends Christmas Magic

Good mornin’, y’all!  Happy Saturday – hope you’re planning something fun!  My hubby’s coming home today – he’s been gone for 6 or 7 weeks now, taking care of his mom.  She had a car accident back in July – and….well.  It’s been a long few weeks.  So, he’ll get home this afternoon – probably pretty tired.  I need to get the house cleaned up and have something good planned for dinner!

Yes.  I am a Holly-Homemaker like that.  Sometimes!

Not a lot – but sometimes. And my definition includes the fun stuff….cooking tasty things (someone else cleans up), growing fun stuff in the garden (someone else weeds, de-bugs), crafting (would be lovely if someone else tidied up after me), kissing pony noses (someone else clean stalls and sweep the aisle)….you get the drift! 😉

My master plan is to get my house cleaned up one last time and then maybe hire someone to come in and do it for me!  Wouldn’t that be wonderful?!?  I could card make, and cook and gather up stuff for the Goodwill.  Without that pesky housecleaning hanging over my head all the time.

That’s how it feels to me – like a giant weight hanging over my head.  I detest housecleaning.  Gives me a panic knot in my throat to think about doing it.  But I like a clean house, so it’s a conundrum for me!

Anyway – enough of my housekeeping angst!  Let’s talk about something fun, like a card, shall we?  I played with the Jolly Friends stamp set – specifically the moose.  He’s so cute!  And I added a couple of nice sentiments from the Christmas Magic set.  Take a look-see:

jolly-friends-christmas-magic-4-stamps-n-lingers
I played along with a sketch from CAS(E) This Sketch, challenge #191:

cts-191-sketch
And I also played along with a technique challenge from TGIF Challenges….#74:

tgifc-74-sketch
Fortunately the folks at TGIF said I didn’t have to use “real” stitches!!  So I could use my little faux ones!

I built the card kind of in stages.  First I cut my frames – I used different size scalloped edge dies from the Squares Layering Framelits to cut pieces of Real Red and Crumb Cake.  Then I used smaller straight edge dies to cut the middles out.  I stitched them up with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.

Next up?  The Jolly Friends moose.  I stamped him in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White and fussy cut him out.  Then I colored him in with my Clear Wink of Stella “paint” brush – I gave him some Blushing Bride “cheeks”, a Crumb Cake head, and Sahara Sand antlers.

jolly-friends-christmas-magic-1-stamps-n-lingers
To make him uber-cool, I gave him some Maui’s….I used sticky notes to mask his antlers off and then stamped the little sunglasses from Jolly Friends in Basic Black Archival Ink.

Then I figured out how the frames were going to be arranged and how he was going to be inside them.

Next I cut a Whisper White card front, and my Candy Cane Lane DSP square and its Real Red mat.  I dry fit everything together so that I could find where my sentiment needed to be.  Once I had that, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the little sentiment from Christmas Magic in Real Red.

jolly-friends-christmas-magic-2-stamps-n-lingers
I really wasn’t sure how the sentiment was going to look if I embossed the panel, but I figured….what the heck!?  So, I ran it thru the Big Shot in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF (stitching…sewing…knitting?!?).  When it came out – the sentiment looked just fine, so I SNAILd it to a Real Red mat.

I SNAILd the matted Candy Cane Lane square to the card front and trimmed up the excess.

The framed moose is made as a separate piece.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere everything together first, and then used Stampin’ Dimensionals all over the back of it to pop it onto the card.  And that was it for the card front! 🙂

jolly-friends-christmas-magic-3-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Christmas Magic in Real Red on a Whisper White panel.  Then I stamped the Jolly Friends moose in Early Espresso, peeking in the corner.  He’s colored exactly the same way I colored Mr. Moose on the front.

jolly-friends-christmas-magic-5-stamps-n-lingers
I “stitched” all the way around the panel and the moose with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I SNAILd it to a Real Red mat and into my Crumb Cake card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I repeated Mr. Moose – including the stitches and his cool shades –  on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope…

jolly-friends-christmas-magic-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and added some of the Candy Cane Lane DSP to the envelope flap.

jolly-friends-christmas-magic-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  Mr. Jolly Friends Moose has got himself hung up in the picture frames, for sure!  But, he’s so cool – he looks like he meant to be there, doesn’t he?!  Hope you like!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Sleigh Christmas Wishes

Happy Friday, y’all!  Day Two of Fall.  I have to say that day one kind of….wait for it…fell short! LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!  I’m crackin’ myself up!!

It was not at all “Fall-like” here today.

Which is getting tough on my ponies – who’ve been getting ready for winter as fast as they can for the past few weeks.  Furry coats when it’s 90 are kind of a pain, dontcha know?!  They come in in the evening more than ready for a quick shower while they have their dinner under the fans!

Contrary to the temperatures outside, I’ve got a wintery-cool card to share with you today.  I recently acquired the Santa’s Sleigh bundle from the Holiday Catalog and decided it was time to ink it up!  Take a look-see:

santas-sleigh-christmas-wishes-4-stamps-n-lingers
My design was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #255:

fms-255-sketch
And the color palette comes from the Pals Paper Arts color challenge #319:

ppa-319-sketch
I started with a piece of 2015-2017 In Color Envelope Paper in Mint Macaron – I think it looks kind of like a snow flurry.

Doesn’t it?

So – I played around with what color to mat it on – and ended up going monochromatic with a Mint Macaron card stock mat.  Not my usual, but…I liked it the best, really.

The center panel is a Whisper White piece, that I embossed in my Softly Falling TIEF, matted it on Mint Macaron and SNAILd it to the card front.

santas-sleigh-christmas-wishes-1-stamps-n-lingers
Then I wrapped a piece of Flirty Flamingo 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon around the whole thing, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

Now, I told you this was the first time I used my Santa’s Sleigh bundle, yes?  Well, I’m officially in love with it – particularly this pine tree and its matching die.  It’s such a pretty, stylized tree – and the die cuts it perfectly!  I stamped it on Whisper White in Versamark, and then heat embossed it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Then I rinsed and repeated twice more.

Well.  Didn’t rinse.  That would be silly…

santas-sleigh-christmas-wishes-3-stamps-n-lingers
I cut them all out with their Santa’s Sleigh thinlit die.  To adhere them – I stuck a little piece of Stampin’ Dimensional under the very top of each tree and under the very bottom of each trunk.  Then I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue on the rest of the tree to stick them on.  To the very tip-top of the center tree, I adhered a Gold star from the Metallics Enamel Shapes.

My sentiment, also from the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set – this is a full-service bundle! – is heat embossed in Silver on a strip of Flirty Flamingo card stock.  I snipped the end into a banner, and adhered it over the trees with Liquid Glue.

The last touch is a little bow – heat embossed with Emerald Envy Glitter Stampin’ Emboss Powder from the Holiday Catalog – and cut with its matching Santa’s Sleigh die.  Then I adhered it to the banner with a little Liquid Glue, and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the second Santa’s Sleigh sentiment in Flirty Flamingo on Whisper White.  And, cuz I think it’s pretty cute and I love this Emerald Envy Glitter – I gave it another little bow.

santas-sleigh-christmas-wishes-5-stamps-n-lingers
I matted it on Mint Macaron and SNAILd it into my Emerald Envy card base.  Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

The Whisper White Medium Envelope was easy to gussy up (no naked envelopes!!) with a couple of Emerald Envy Glittery bows on the front…

…and then I used some of the Mint Macaron Envelope Paper on the flap.

Et Voila!  This one makes me feel a little cooler just looking at it!  The Santa’s Sleigh bundle is a sure-fire winner – this barely scratches the surface of what’s in the set!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Totally Suite Paisley Trees for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop. If you’re following along, you’ll know this is a color challenge week.  We changed some things up a bit, though – now you may see us use a sketch or design challenge to help us get our creative juices flowing.  Yeah!  I’m excited to see what everyone did with these pretty colors this week.  Hope you are, too, and that you’ll check out all the projects from the ladies-who-hop!

Here’s our color scheme…perfect for the first official day of Fall, don’t you think??

14067473_10210503222365126_1412953050962586921_n
Before I get into my card – let me share the news.  I know many of you probably had a sleepless night, worrying about whether I hurt myself getting on my hands and knees to search for my AWOL spider from the Jar of Haunts stamp set.  And if that wasn’t concerning you – you were anxious about whether I found him – or vacuumed him up!

Well….I found him! 🙂

I searched thru all my scrap paper.  Used a flashlight to peer around under the desk.  Emptied the trash cans – searching (a little bit!) thru the papers in them to see if he was there.  No joy.  I slumped back in despair, knowing I had no choice but to pull up my big girl panties and get down and run my hand all over the floor, hoping I’d feel him.  As I gazed dejectedly down at said floor (have I mentioned I need to vacuum?!?), I noticed an oddly shaped scrap of Real Red card stock.

It looked….blurry…on one end.

Could it….?  Could it possibly be??

Not holding out much hope, I reached down and picked up the scrap.

And, by golly – there he was!!  Clinging stubbornly to that scrap of card stock.  I know he was hoping I’d find him – he’d lost his way – and not vacuum him up!

There was much singing and rejoicing!  And while he was singing and bouncing around,  I gave him a stern talking to for scaring me and a time out.  In his stamp case.  If he thinks I’m just going to jump up and stamp his little image on something anytime soon…well, he’s just got another think coming to him! 😉

So – what did I do with these colors for today?  Well, I didn’t stamp a spider, that’s for darned sure!  I pulled out the Suite Seasons stamp set, which is just chock-a-block full of great sentiments for the season.  I suppose that’s why it’s called that…  I added some trees from Totally Trees and dressed it all up with beautiful Petals & Paisleys DSP.  Take a look-see:

I used this week’s Mojo Monday sketch challenge to help me with my design.  Mojo Monday #466:

mm-466-sketch
I started by SNAILing a piece of Mint Macaron design-paper from the Petals & Paisleys DSP to a Rich Razzleberry mat.  For the small rectangle on the left, I SNAILd the copper-foil-embossed paper – also from Petals & Paisleys – to a second Rich Razzleberrry mat.  And SNAILd that to my card front.

The art began with the sentiment from Suite Seasons.  I inked the image with Versamark, then with my Delightful Dijon ink, stamped it on a Very Vanilla square, and sprinkled it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Then I heated it up – resulting in a shiny, embossed, Delightful Dijon sentiment!

totally-suite-paisley-trees-1-stamps-n-lingers
My trees, from Totally Trees, are stamped three times in Versamark ink, sprinkled with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and heated.  Then I colored the leaves with my Rich Razzleberry, Mint Macaron and Delightful Dijon Stampin’ Write Markers.  I SNAILd the panel to a Rich Razzleberry Mat and then to the card front.

My ribbons are from the 3/8″ Ribbon Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog in Rich Razzleberry and Delightful Dijon.  I snipped little banner ends and then wrapped them over the top of the card, securing the end with scotch tape.  I used a little line of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to stick the ribbons down on the card.

For the embellishment, I cut a little shape from Copper Foil with my Paisleys Thinlits and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.  Using a Glue Dot, I added a small Classy Designer Button.  I finished it off with a little bow that I’d tied with a length of Linen Thread and two lengths of Copper Metallic Thread, adhering that with a Glue Dot, too.  And that was it for the card front! 🙂

totally-suite-paisley-trees-8-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I SNAILd a Very Vanilla panel to a Rich Razzleberry mat.  Then I used a small image from the Paisleys & Posies stamp set and – stamping off once first – ran it up the side of the panel in Delightful Dijon.

totally-suite-paisley-trees-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it into my Delightful Dijon card base, added the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a line of stamped-off-once Paisleys & Posies images across the front…

totally-suite-paisley-trees-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and some more of the Petals & Paisleys DSP on the envelope flap!

totally-suite-paisley-trees-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  This pretty Thanksgiving-worthy card holds so many of my favorite things from the Holiday Catalog!  And it sure was easy to put together, too!  Hope you like!
