Stampin’ Up! Hippest Hippos for A Grand Kid for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a sweet sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I had a request for a card to send a young lady off to the 5th grade – and decided that this sketch was a great time to make that happen!  I picked the totes-adorbs Hippest Hippo stamp set and coordinating Hippo Dies (BOTH available for FREE during Sale-A-Bration!) and some Celebrate Everything DSP (a free Host-Exclusive paper pack).  Take a look-see:

And – here’s our sketch!

I started by adhering two designs from the Celebrate Everything DSP on Granny Apple Green using Liquid Glue – then I adhered the smaller panel to the card front with more Liquid Glue.  Celebrate Everything is a Host pack from the Annual Catalog – and you can get it for free with an individual order or workshop with a retail value of $180.  And it’s REALLY cool – it has 48 sheets of wonderful designs!!

I cut out a circle from Basic White cardstock using the next-to-largest die in the Stylish Shapes Dies and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

On another piece of Basic White, I stamped the en-pointe Hippest Hippo ballerina in Tuxedo Black – and cut it with the matching die in the Hippo Dies!

Remember that the Hippest Hippo stamp set and Hippo Dies are both available for FREE with $50 orders while Sale-A-Bration continues (thru the end of this month!).

I colored the hippo with my Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend (her body) and the Basic Gray Watercolor Pencil (her schnoozle and belly).  She’s sporting Light Flirty Flamingo Blends on her nails and…for her toe-shoes. 😎

For her skirt, I stamped the image again in Tuxedo Black on another piece of the Polished Pink Celebrate Everything DSP (same pattern as the card front).  Then I used my Paper Snips to cut out her tutu – which I adhered to her with Liquid Glue. HINT:  that’s called Paper Piecing! 🙂

I used Liquid Glue to adhere her to the Basic White circle.

I cut out three “grass” die cuts – two from Granny Apple Green cardstock and one from a Granny Apple Green design in Celebrate Everything – and adhered them with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

The sentiment – from A Grand Kid – is stamped in Granny Apple Green and cut out with my Paper Snips – then adhered with a couple of Dimensionals and a dab of Liquid Glue.

I added some Polished Pink and Basic White flowers cut with the Hippo Dies – using Liquid Glue and Dimensionals.  Each flower has a Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewel in the center.

I pondered how to make it more 5th-grade centric and settled on a quick Polished Pink number 5 from the Alphabest stamp set (I hand wrote the “th” with a Stampin’ Write Marker) that I punched with the bundled Best Label punch!

I tucked the number under her gracefully pointed…hoof?…with a little Liquid Glue.

Then I added some Polished Pink 2022-2024 In Color Opal Rounds in the centers of the fireworks on the DSP and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from A Grand Kid in Granny Apple Green on a Basic White panel.  In the corner, I stamped a second Hippest Hippo in Tuxedo Black and colored her with my Blends and Watercolor Pencil!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Granny Apple Green mat and into my Polished Pink card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the little flower-holder on the front…

…and more Celebrate Everything DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I hope the little recipient will like this Hippest Hippo ballerina – I sure had fun making her.  And it’s so cool to be able to just cut them out with the Hippo Dies.  Add in the fact that they’re…FREE?!?  Yes, please!  Do NOT miss the Host-Excusive Celebrate Everything DSP – where else can you get a HUGE pack of amazing paper for free!?  And – you’re going to WANT the Alphabest bundle on your shelf – perfectly sized and SOOO handy!!

I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! A Grand Kid Jar of Flowers Sneak Peek Fun Fold – with a Video Tutorial!

Happy Friday!!  I hope you’ve had an awesome week.  Are you planning to watch the second attempt to launch Space X to the ISS on Saturday – at 1522 Eastern??  I am – and am hoping the weather God’s are more cooperative than they were on Wednesday.  We need to get ourselves back into space!  Also?  The Space X suits and cockpit are super cool and future-istic looking!  Should be exciting!!

If you were able to join me for my YouTube video yesterday – I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay…here ’tis!

I used two new-in-the-2020-2021-Annual-Catalog stamp sets for this fun-fold…the A Grand Kid and the Jar of Flowers sets.  Along with some Flowers for Every Season DSP, I ended up with this side-flap tri-fold card.  Take a look-see:

The layout for the front of the card hails from this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge…

And the flowers and colors work perfectly with the Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration challenge!

This fun-fold came to my attention on this week’s SplitCoastStampers Wednesday Tutorial, so I thought I’d give it a go!

I started with a full 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Just Jade card stock and scored it with my Paper Trimmer.  Basically – I scored at the half-way mark on both the short and the long sides.  Then I cut out one quadrant of the card stock.

I cut the additional 1/2″ off the third quadrant – and the fun-fold was ready to go!  Easy peasy!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere a striped piece of the new Flowers For Every Season DSP to a Purple Posy mat.

Using Glue Dots to adhere the trim in the back, I wrapped some new gold trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo pack three times.

I stamped the pretty floral image from the Jar of Flowers set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and cut it with the largest oval Stitched Shapes Die.  Then I colored it with my Stampin’ Blends in:  Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight and Flirty Flamingo Combo Packs, Dark Balmy Blue, Dark Purple Posy and Dark Mint Macaron.  Then I popped the oval onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals

I stamped a sentiment from A Grand Kid in Poppy Parade on Whsiper White and cut it with the next-to-smallest rectangle die in the Stitched So Sweetly Die set, then adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I tied a double-length of the gold Forever Greenery trim in a simple bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

Finally, I added some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done.

On the inside flap, I matted another Flowers For Every Season paper on a Purple Posy mat and then onto the flap with Liquid Glue.  A second sentiment from A Grand Kid, in Poppy Parade on Whisper White – cut with the largest label in Stitched So Sweetly – was all the flap needed!

For the inner liner, I stamped Happy Birthday – from A Grand Kid – in Poppy Parade on Whisper White.  I added a Purple Posy-matted piece of the Flowers for Every Season DSP with Liquid Glue.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Purple Posy mat and into the card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another fun sentiment from A Grand Kid in Poppy Parade on the front.  I used my Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers to color the letters…

…and more of the Flowers for Every Season DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  There’s so much to love about the florals from the Jar of Flowers set – and that’s even WITHOUT using the bundled Jar Punch!  It just makes a project sing….SPRING (or SUMMER!!).  And the A Grand Kid set – a sentiment stamp set – is perfect for Grandparents, but… many of the sentiments are great for non-grands!

And if you want some paper that spans the seasons – look no further than the aptly-named Flowers for Every Season DSP! Poinsettias and pines, sunflowers, daisies, roses….it’s all here!

I hope you like…no…LOVE!  And are making plans to add all of this to your stash at the earliest opportunity!

You can get the whole Jar of Flowers bundle – plus several other great flower-centric products – in my All About the Flowers Special Bundle #3!  Check it out right here!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Finn Fan Fix

There are many reasons that Finn has a love-hate relationship with summer.

He sort of loves the reaction from the mom and dad when he flies around the corner of the house sopping wet when he’s taken a dip in the pond.

And he LOVES being toweled off as a result of said dip.

But.

There’s a dark side to summer.

That moment when you realize that the garage door is going up and your dad is going for a drive.

Without you. 🙁

Cuz – the mom is a 3S – that’s a Super Strict Stickler – about hot cars and dogs.  And her window of “okay for Finn to go” is pretty narrow.

Just in case that photo didn’t tear at your heart….

Resist this.  I dare you.

Ahhh – the betrayal of summer….

Stampin’ Up! Bitty Dino-Raursome Birthday Card!

Happy Happy….HAWWWMP Day!  Whoo-hoo!  On the downhill slide now, y’all! 🙂

Now – I have a terrible confession.  My card today is a card I MADE yesterday.  That’s not the confession – that’s pretty much the norm!

The confession is that the card I MADE yesterday is for my little Ginger-man who turned one.  Yesterday.  So…guess how late his card is going to be??

I know – he may not even notice.  But I notice and I feel bad. 🙁

So – I hope that the fun little Dino Days dudes on this card – and the fun colors from the Dinoroar DSP – will give him a grin and ease the sting of its late arrival.  Take a look-see:

I played again with this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge – I think I’ve FINALLY got it right! 😉

And I kept it simple as a result of The Paper Players Clean-and-Simple challenge.

I started with some of that fun Dinoroar DSP, matted on Pretty Peacock for the card front.

On a smaller panel of Whisper White, I stamped the dinosaur footprints image from the Dino Days stamp set many times across the panel – in Pretty Peacock, Crushed Curry, Pool Party and Old Olive.

I matted the panel on a piece of Pretty Peacock and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a strip of Whisper White, I stamped a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set in Pretty Peacock.  Then I bannerized the ends with my Paper Snips and edged the banner with my Lovely Lipstick Stampin’ Write Marker.

I popped the sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the large…uhm…Brontosaurus?…in Pool Party on a Whisper White panel.  I gave him some Pretty Peacock spots.  Then I added a Dino Days sentiment in Old Olive.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Pool Party and Pretty Peacock Brontosaurus on the front…

…and on the back I added more Dinoroar DSP to the envelope flap.  And then…I couldn’t help it.  I added another Dino Days dino – in Flirty Flamingo and Pretty Peacock – and a sentiment in Pretty Peacock.

Et Voila!  What a fun suite – don’t you think?  I love the sweet images and sentiments in the Dino Days stamp set – and the colorful patterns – be they dinosaurs or geometrics – in the Dinoroar DSP!  I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Leave a Little Sparkle Unicorn and Petals

Good morning!  It’s Hawwmmp Day!!  Whoo-hoo!

Yes – I still care about these things.  Just…not as much as I used to! 😉

So – my card today is going to be reminiscent of one I did a couple weeks back.  It’s a special order (they don’t upset us) so…I pulled the Leave a Little Sparkle stamp set and some Pressed Petals Specialty DSP and made another magical unicorn card for a tiny girl human headed off to school!  Take a look-see:

Similar – and yet…different, yes?  There’s the beauty of this wonderful craft of ours!

I started with a different design of the gorgeous Pressed Petals Specialty DSP and matted it on Daffodil Delight for the card front.

Then I stamped “Sparkles” (that’s what I named him) in the center of the oval in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  His mane is colored with the Light and Dark Rococo Rose Stampin’ Blends – plus my Merry Merlot Stampin’ Write Marker.  I brushed his body with Frost White Shimmer Paint using a dried out Blender Pen.

Next, I grabbed the Lovely Leaves Dies and cut some Daffodil Delight and Rococo Rose flowers, some Mossy Meadow Leaves, a few Very Vanilla “wildflowers”, and a couple of Gold Glimmer leaves and small flowers.

I made a flower with the Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape – I patted the back of each “petal” with my Embossing Buddy so they wouldn’t stick together.  In the middle is a Perennial Essence Floral Center.

I stamped a Leave A Little Sparkle sentiment in Merry Merlot on a strip of Daffodil Delight and bannerized the end with my Paper Snips.

Since I wanted a little more sparkle, I brushed the Very Vanilla “dandelions” with my Clear Wink of Stella.

Then I dry fit the collage and took a couple of pictures so I could put it all together.  Thought you might like to see how it all went together! 🙂

I adhered everything with Liquid Glue – with the exception of a couple of small flowers around Sparkles’ horn – I popped those on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some Noble Peacock Rhinestones and Rhinestone Basic Jewels – and some gold stars from the Most Wonderful Time Product Medley (this one is coming on 4 Sept in the 2019 Holiday Catalog)!

Before adding the Pressed Petals flower – I used a Glue Dot to adhere a double-length bow tied with Linen Thread.  I added the flower over top – with a little Liquid Glue – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second Leave A Little Sparkle in Merry Merlot to a Very Vanilla panel.  Over the top is the sparkly-flourish in Rococo Rose.  And a few more Most Wonderful Time gold stars just cuz!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and into my Merry Merlot card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Leave a Little Sparkle flourish in Rococo Rose and some gold stars on the front…

…and one of the Pressed Petals Specialty DSP papers – that coordinates perfectly with the flower on the front of the card! – on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Pressed Petals and Leave a Little Sparkle come together again to create a little girl’s fantasy!  I hope you like – I am quite sure that SHE will!

Summertime, summertime, sum-sum-summertime, summertime!

For us – summer is flip flops and shorts, watermelon and BBQ.

For a horse-dog, it’s…

…laying in front of the fan in the barn aisle.

Having a little puppy-picnic.

If you have horses – you know what those are.

If you don’t….you might not really want to know…. 😉

Stampin’ Up! Wiggle Worm Birthday for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month our theme is Birthdays!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

I decided to make a card for a tiny human’s birthday.  You know – of the age where they don’t know (or care!) what they get for a present – let alone what the card looks like.  Or…if there even IS a card! 😉  Which means – this card is really for the tiny human’s mother, right?  So – I went uber-cute with the new Wiggle Worm stamp set and bundled Wiggle Bug Dies.  And I put my bugs on a Brick & Mortar 3D embossed panel.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.

I started with some Crushed Curry paper from the new Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP and matted it on Mossy Meadow for the card front.

For the “brick wall” – I swiped my Cajun Craze Ink Pad across the embossing side of the new Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.  Then I carefully placed a Very Vanilla panel into the folder, closed it, and embossed it in my Die Cutting machine.

I cut the embossed panel down to its final size and matted it on Mossy Meadow.  Then I lightly brushed over it with an almost dry Cajun Craze-inked Sponge Dauber – just to add a little more color to the “bricks” – and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I cut a Mossy Meadow leaf with the Wiggle Bug Die and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  The Wiggle Worm sentiment was stamped twice – once in Crushed Curry and once in Cajun Craze.  I cut the Cajun Craze sentiment with the oval die from the Petals Labels Die and fussy cut the Crushed Curry “birthday” with my Paper Snips.  I edged the little banner with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it onto the sentiment with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I stuck the whole thing onto the card front with more Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a seperate piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped a few bugs and teensy bees (LOVE!) in Tuxedo Black.  I added some detail to each bug in Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze.  Then I colored the bugs with my Light Old Olive, Light Daffodil Delights, Light Cajun Craze Stampin’ Blends and my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker (the bees).  I cut all the bugs with their matching Wiggle Bugs Dies.

I adhered the bugs and bees with Dimensionals and Liquid Glue.

I tied a little bow from new Crushed Curry 3/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I tucked another couple of bees underneath it – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a tiny little sentiment from Wiggle Worm in Cajun Craze on a Very Vanilla panel – then added a few more of the adorable two-step bees.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Wiggle Worm bug and bees on the front…

…and I put some more Crushed Curry Regals 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap – plus some more bees! 🙂

Et Voila!  Not really my normal “kind” of card – but I am sort of loving this new set!  The Wiggle Worm stamp set and bundled Wiggle Bug Dies…too much fun for creating all sorts of wild and crazy bugs!  And – the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder.  Are you kidding??  It’s perfect!  I do hope you like!

Now that you’ve seen my card, I hope you’ll take a little time to jump thru all the other projects we have to share. Click any name below, or you can use the Previous Blog button to jump to Jaimie’s page or the Next Blog button to see what Karen’s been up to!

HOST CODE FOR 1 JUN – 15 JUN: VXTTY7PW

Use this host code when you order and receive a free gift from me! But, if your order is over $150, please don’t use this code (you’ll miss out on your own Stampin’ Rewards if you use it) but you’ll still get the free gift. The free gift is your choice of any item valued up to $10.00 from any active catalog! And – you can even select one of the Host-exclusive sets! See my Rewards page for more details.

New 3D Embossing Folder Plate Now Available!

The new 3D Embossing Folder Plate (item 149658) is now available to order! It’s designed to work with our new-style 3D embossing folders (which are thinner than our old-style Dynamic folders).

You can click on the picture above and open the flyer – then print it and keep it by your embossing machine and new 3D Embossing Folder Plate.  It’s got your new “sandwich” information right on it!

Remember that carryover 3D embossing folders will not be available to order at the start of the new catalog but I’ll let you know when they’re available to order.

Also keep in mind that we expect to receive staggered plate shipments in all markets during June and July as we build inventory. Which means, you may experience periods of time when it is unavailable to order if inventory is depleted; it will become available to order again when inventory is replenished.

How to Use the New Plate

The new plate makes up the difference in measurement between our old-style Dynamic Folders and our new-style 3D Folders in most die-cutting machines. The 3D Embossing Folder Plate replaces the Standard Cutting Pads in your 3D embossing folder sandwich for continued high-quality emboss results.

To create your emboss sandwich:

  • Use a die-cutting & embossing machine platform as a base; no matter which machine you’re using, use the standard platform which comes with your machine.
  • Use the 3D Embossing Folder with your paper in the middle.
  • Then use the 3D Embossing Folder Plate on top.

Given the differences in machines and platforms, you may still have to add a shim to get your desired embossing results. (You can also spritz your paper before embossing to maximize your embossed impressions.)

Without the new 3D Embossing Folder Plate, you will need to use several shims with the Standard Cutting Pad in your 3D embossing folder sandwich, depending on the die-cutting & embossing machine you use. Most machines will need between three to five sheets of cardstock to shim. Please be careful in how you shim; start out with fewer sheets first, then add sheets to get your desired results.  Stampin’ Up! won’t be responsible for replacing products broken due to using a sandwich which is too thick for a machine.

Stampin’ Up! Magical Day Unicorn in Pink

Happy Haaawwwmp Day, my peeps!  How goes your week?

I made a fun little card today that could be used for a kid’s birthday or a friend’s big day!  It uses the Magical Day bundle and some pretty Myths & Magic Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the Sketch Saturday challenge!

My girly-girl color scheme is thanks to The Paper Players!

And finally, the magical them is from…Just Us Girls!

I started with a pink paper from the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP for the card front.

My art layers start with a scalloped circle of Irridescent Myths & Magic 6″x 6″ Glimmer Paper, then a Whisper White circle and finally a Powder Pink circle – all cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  I ran the Powder Pink layer thru the Seaside TIEF.  When I adhered all the layers together with Liquid Glue, I put the embossed circle DE-bossed side up.  Wanted it to look more like air than water!

I adhered the layered circles to the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP panel with the side sort of hanging off the edge.  Then I used my Paper Snips to trim the excess and matted the panel on Powder Pink.

I cut some Vellum card stock clouds with the die from the Rainbow Builder Framelits and adhered them to the circle with Liquid Glue – just where I knew the unicorn would cover it up.

On a piece of scrap Whisper White, I stamped the Magical Day unicorn in Versamark, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.  Then I cut it with the matching die from the bundled Magical Mates Framelits.  While I was at it, I cut some stars from more of the Myths & Magic Glimmer Paper.

I colored the unicorn mane with my Powder Pink and Melon Mambo Markers and her body with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

I stamped the sentiment in Versamark on Powder Pink and heat embossed it in Silver, then cut it with the banner die from the Magical Mates.  I stamped it again in Melon Mambo and fussy cut just the small banner (“You are”).  Then I popped that on top of the larger banner with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I edged the banner with my Melon Mambo Stampin’ Write Marker and then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue and a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Then I adhered the unicorn over it with Liquid Glue.  I adhered the Glimmer stars here and there with dabs of Liquid Glue and added a few Clear Faceted Gems.  Finally, I tied a double bow from Silver Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Magical Day in Melon Mambo on a Whisper White panel.  Around it, I adhered a few more Glimmer Stars, then I stamped the stars image from the stamp set in Powder Pink.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Melon Mambo card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Magical Day stars in Powder Pink across the front…

…and I gave the envelope flap some more of the Myths & Magic Specialty DSP.

Et Voila!  I think this Magical Day bundle, and all the pieces in the Myths & Magic Suite, are so cute.  And I don’t think they’re only appropriate for kids, do you?!  Hope you like!

So – the picture I have for you today highlights two things.

First – that my kitchen windows are dirty.

Okay – all my windows are dirty.

The second thing that it shows is that my goofy dog has reached new heights of goof-ball-iosity.

Stampin’ Up! Magical Day Birthday Card for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop!

Good mornin’, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month it’s Birthdays!!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!

I have a little friend (okay – I have a few more than just one friend – but most of them are all grown up!) who will be turning 4 this year.  Her name is Scarlett.  Scarlett is sweet and very much a girly-girl.  I got her a really pretty dress with flowers and butterflies on it to send.  For the card, I decided to go pink.  And sparkly.  And…girly!  The new Magical Day stamp set – and the bundled Magical Mates Framelits seemed like just the ticket.  Take a look-see:

I borrowed the layout from the this month’s Viva La Verve sketch challenge! Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Coffee Cafe Makes the Day Go Better!

Happy Saturday, y’all!  I’m at work today – but there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!  Yesterday was a good one – we actually got things done!  You need to do things at work – one of my guys even mentioned actually feeling like he’d accomplished something, so…good day for all of us!  And, looks like I should be home next weekend!  Whoo-hoo!  We’ll play next weekend’s Sunday night video by ear – but I’ll be on tomorrow night. 🙂

A friend of mine had a bit of a tough week this week, so I thought I’d make her a quick card.   And since coffee makes my day better – do not get between me and that first cup (fair warning!) – I decided to use some goodies from the new Coffee Break Suite.  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired – loosely! – by the sketch challenge this week at Freshly Made Sketches.

So, to start with – can y’all guess how I made my card front?  No…don’t scroll down to the product list.  That’s cheating!

Take a minute.

If you guessed that I used the Marbled background stamp – you guessed right!  I inked it up with Soft Suede ink and stamped a Very Vanilla panel.  Looks like cafe au lait, doesn’t it??

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Pear Pizzazz mat and that was my card front.

Next up is a square of the Coffee Break DSP, matted on a scalloped edge square of Pear Pizzazz, which I cut with the Squares Layering Framelits, and adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I added a short strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon with some more Liquid Glue and then started pulling my Grande Americano!

I stamped the Coffee Cafe cup image on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock in Chocolate Chip Ink.  While I was at it, I stamped the lid image, too, also in Chocolate Chip.  Then I cut them both out with their matching die from the bundled Coffee Cup Framelits.

Using a Sponge Dauber, I ever-so-lightly (lightly!!) added a little Crumb Cake to the left side of my cup – just for a little depth. Hint:  use your Crumb Cake Sponge Dauber without adding any more ink.  Drier – almost too dry – is better!

The coffee insulator is cut with the fun die from Coffee Cups Framelits from a piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  This one cuts the shape and embosses it with the cool corrugated stripes that makes it look just like one of those coffee cup thingys you get at the coffee shop.  The ones that keep you from getting third degree burns thru the not-so-thick coffee cup? I used a little Liquid Glue to attach it and then wrapped some Linen Thread twice around the cup, securing it in the back with tape.  Then I tied a double-length bow and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.

I cut a Garden Green oval with the die in the Coffee Cups Framelits and adhered it with Glue.  Next is a heart from the Corrugated Elements.  Finally, I stamped the “Hi” from the Coffee Cafe stamp set onto one of the Soft Sky circles on a piece of Coffee Break DSP and punched it out with my 1/2″ Circle Punch.  I adhered it to the cup, popped the whole thing over the Burlap Ribbon and DSP panel with Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a sentiment from Coffee Cafe in Chocolate Chip ink on a Very Vanilla panel.  Under it, I added the little heart in Soft Sky.  And, across the bottom, you’ll find some Chocolate Chip coffee beans and Soft Sky hearts – all courtesy of the Coffee Cafe stamp set!

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Pear Pizzazz mat and into my Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

I added more Coffee Cafe coffee beans in Chocolate Chip and Soft Sky hearts across the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope…

…and gave the envelope flap some more of the Coffee Break DSP.

Et Voila!  I’m loving that Marbled background stamp, aren’t you?  Looks like coffee with cream just swirling thru it!  And I think the Coffee Cafe stamp set and bundled Coffee Cups Framelits – are just perfect – especially paired up with their coordinating Coffee Break DSP.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Fairy Celebrates a Birthday with Paint Play

Well.  It’s Friday.  As I type this on Thursday, we’re busy executing the “Mill Around Checklist”.  Which is aviator for “hurry up and wait”.  I thought I was done with that like…11 years ago!

Apparently not.

Waiting for someone to make a decision.

Guess who that someone is NOT?

Yup.

Your friendly, neighborhood SU! demonstrator.

Cuz…if it was her/me – the decision would have been made hours ago and we’d be doing something!!!

Sheesh.

Okay.  Rant over.

Thank you for listening.

My card today is a super cute one (she says modestly), using the new Fairy Celebration and Paint Play stamp sets.  I used them to make a birthday card suitable for a little girl human – or a little-girl-at-heart human!  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired by the sketch challenge over at My Favorite Things – but it’s already closed!

I selected my color palette from the Fab Friday color challenge this week:

And the Global Design Project challenge helped me decide to use the Fairy Celebration stamp set!

I started by heat embossing the fun little fairy image from Fairy Celebration in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then I cut it out with a Stitched Shapes Framelits circle die.  Using my Stampin’ Trimmer, I sliced a little off the bottom.  I matted it on a piece of Silver Foil that I cut with a scalloped-edge circle die in the Circles Layering Framelits.

Then I used my flat-bottom art piece to give me an idea where to stamp the fun images from the new Paint Play stamp set.  I used the colors of the challenge – Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay – for this part.  I popped the art over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals and used my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to paint my fairy and her cherries (I used the Glitter Brush to pick up ink from the lid of my ink pads)!  I used Berry Burst for her wings, Daffodil Delight on her hair, Tangerine Tango for her top and Bermuda Bay for her skirt.  The cherries and leaves are Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist!

The sentiment, from Fairy Celebration, is stamped in Bermuda Bay on a strip of Whisper White.  I snipped a banner in the end and used a little Liquid Glue to adhere it to a similarly cut mat of Silver Foil.  Then I used a Dimensional and Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card.

I wrapped a length of Berry Burst 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon around the card front, securing it in back with scotch tape, and tied a “faux bow” with a second, shorter, piece of ribbon.

A fewBerry Burst Glitter Enamel Dots on the sentiment banner and in the flower centers finished off the front of the card.

On the inside, I stamped some more flowers from Paint Play in the challenge colors and added another sentiment from Fairy Celebration in Bermuda Bay to a Whisper White panel.  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (and rubbing first with my Embossing Buddy), I stamped a second fairy image in Versamark, and heat embossed her in Gold.  Then I used my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush again to color her in in Tangerine Tango, Berry Burst and Daffodil Delight (her hair).  As a finishing touch, I added some Glitter Enamel Dots (Crushed Curry and Berry Burst) to the flower centers.

I SNAILd the panel to a Silver Foil mat and into my Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some more Paint Play flowers across the front (I used my Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the flower centers)…

…and then I added even more to the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Cute cute stamp sets… Fairy Celebration is perfect for making a little girl’s birthday wishes come true!  And I love the Paint Play – the images look like they’ve been hand drawn with a crayon or big marker!  I hope you like and will consider adding them to your tool chest!
