Stampin’ Up! Window Box Thinlits Sneak Peek!

Before I get going… I need to say… A great icon has joined his brothers on the other side.  Godspeed, John Glenn, Godspeed. 🙁

Mornin’, y’all – the end of the week approacheth!  And so does Christmas!  Oh.  My.  Goodness!  Can’t believe it! Ain’t ready for it!  No way – no how.

I don’t even have my tree up.  Which is way late for me!

I confess I might – might – be a little worried about the fate of the tree and any ornaments at Aussie nose height (which is getting higher all the time!).  It’s going to be a trick this year!

Speaking of Christmas – check out my Christmas cactus.  It’s looking beutimous this year!

christmas-cactus-dec-2016

Finn cares not a lick about the cactus – other than enjoying the feeling of dining al fresco.  His only interaction with it is when he’s chasing a soda bottle around the kitchen and he slams into the table it’s sitting on.  Which is tall.  And sort of wobbly.  And going to come a cropper one of these days, I fear!

Yesterday, though, he was being a very good boy.  He helpfully picked up the scraps of card stock and DSP scattered under my table and then laid down right under my feet.  Cuz that’s handy!  Makes it a little difficult to roll to my Big Shot and cutter, don’tcha know?
But – we’re making progress towards my dream of having my loving dog sleeping peacefully at my feet while I make cards! 🙂

finn-sleeping-under-my-table

Yes, he’s resting his head on the cord going to my light.  Like a cord-mmok.  I don’t know why.  But he was quiet and not meddling so….who am I to judge?? 🙂

Speaking of cards, I didn’t make one for you today!

I made a box, instead – using the soon-to-be-available Window Box Thinlits!  Remember a few weeks ago I made this wedding card?

so-in-love-sunshine-wishes-1-stamps-n-lingers
It used the 2017 Occasions Falling In Love DSP and Love Notes Framelits and the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits from the Annual Catalog.

Using the Window Box Thinlits, more Falling in Love DSP and a second sentiment from Sunshine Wishes, I made a coordinating box.  Take a look-see:

wedding-window-box-7-stamps-n-lingers

These Thinlits are really cool – and will let you do all sorts of fun things – especially when you combine them with the bundled Window Shopping stamp set.  When I got my Thinlits, I just jumped in and started trying to make a box.  I got two of the box pieces cut out – I knew that much! – and then I was sort of stymied.  So I went out and found the Stampin’ Up! video.  Let me help you out.  Here’s the video.  Watch it before you make your first cut.  Trust me on this! 🙂

window-box-video
So, after watching the video, I started my “real” box (the first one was practice!).  So, I cut the two basic box pieces from Very Vanilla.

My practice box taught me a trick – when you pick which piece to cut the excess tabs from (per the video!0, cut them from your bottom piece!

Once I’d identified the top, I ran that piece back thru the Big Shot with the floral hexagonal die in place.  I also ran it thru with the square floral hearts design die – cutting two panels.  As the video showed – I turned the die upside down and cut a single square panel in the bottom piece.

I knew I wanted to put something behind the cut-outs, but I wanted the inside of the box to look pretty, too.  So…I took a piece of the same Falling in Love paper that I’d used on the card, and adhered both box pieces to it with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I trimmed off all the excess.  This completely lined the box, making the inside just as pretty as the outside!

wedding-window-box-3-stamps-n-lingers

At that point, I just put the box together like Donna showed us in the Stampin’ Up! video.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere everything.  That gave me time to be sure everything was lined up and in place.

wedding-window-box-1-stamps-n-lingers

With my box together, I made a topper.  I cut a piece of Vellum Card Stock with the main box die, and trimmed up just the top hexagon.  Then I cut 3/4″ from both sides to make a piece to place on top.  I adhered that to another piece of Falling in Love DSP, using my Fine-Tip Glue Pen – and only putting glue where I knew I was going to have embellishment on top, to hide the glue.

wedding-window-box-5-stamps-n-lingers

The sentiment is cut from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits – one from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and two from Soft Sky card stock.  Using Liquid Glue, I adhered them all in a stack.

I ran a piece of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim across my top strip, adhering it with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen and trimming the edges.  Over that I added the stacked up sentiment with Liquid Glue.

wedding-window-box-2-stamps-n-lingers

I popped the finished sentiment strip onto the box top with a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals on the ends of the strip.

To help keep the box closed and to finish it off, I ran another strip of the Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim around the box – running it under the top strip.  On the bottom, I used a little dab of Liquid Glue to adhere the lace to the box.  I tied the trim on the top and added a Falling in Love Embellishment with a Glue Dot.

Just cuz I could, I heat embossed a tiny sentiment from the matching Window Shopping stamp set in Copper on a piece of Very Vanilla and cut it out with the little tag die in the Window Box Thinlits.  I used a little bit of Liquid Glue and adhered it over the trim on the bottom of the box.  Finally, I added a Rhinestone Basic Embellishment to the tag to finish it off.

wedding-window-box-6-stamps-n-lingers

Et Voila!  I love how the card and the box coordinate – and I love love love this Window Box Thinlits die set!  I hope you like – and that you’ve put this on your “must have” list! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! All Things Thanks Delicate Details Sneak Peek!

Mornin’, y’all.  Will soon be on my way home to my wiggle butt!  Can hardly wait to see the little mongrel! 🙂

So.  Remember me saying that I thought the cats are “playing” Finn?  Pretending to be afraid of him and running so he chases them and gets scolded?

Yea.

We got proof.  Wayne told me today that he set a tuna fish can on the floor for Katy.  She’d come into the kitchen when she smelled the tuna, brazenly disregarding the fact that Finn was in there having his dinner.  She commenced to working on the tuna can – even when Finn came over the see what she had that smelled so darned good!  Wayne told me Finn would try to stick his nose in the can and Katy would pull it away from him with her paw.  So they were nose-to-nose.  Tuna is worth showing your hand paw over, apparently.

Well – the jig is up, Katy.  We’ve got your number now.  Hoisted on her own petard tuna can, she was!

Poor little maligned and always-so-innocent-would-never-do-anything-wrong Finn….duped by a feline! 😉

finn-on-my-lap katy-on-my-lap

Now.  On to the card for today.  One of the pretty new stamp sets coming soon in the 2017 Occasions Catalog is called All Things Thanks.  I’m betting you can figure out what its theme is, yes?  I used that, and combined it with one of the stamp sets you’ll be able to earn Free in Sale-A-Bration called Delicate Details.  Look what I got when I put it on top of the oh-so-pretty Falling In Love DSP.  Take a look-see:

all-things-thanks-delicate-details-4-stamps-n-lingers
My design played along with the Fab Friday sketch this week.

fabfri101-sketch
I started with a piece of the Bokeh print paper in the Falling In Love DSP.  Using one of the pretty lace images in the Sale-A-Bration Delicate Details stamp set, I stamped in Sahara Sand several times.  I started about 1/3 of the way up the panel and overlapped each image a little bit as I stamped on down the panel.  When I was done, I SNAILd the DSP to a Sahara Sand mat.

all-things-thanks-delicate-details-2-stamps-n-lingers
I wrapped a piece of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My sentiment, from All Things Thanks, is stamped in Sweet Sugarplum on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I cut it out with a Squares Layering Framelit.  I decided to add a little sumpin’ sumpin’ to the panel, so I pulled out my Sealed with Love stamp set (also coming in the 2017 Occasions Catalog) and stamped the little fleur-diddle-dee-dee above the sentiment in Blushing Bride.

I matted the sentiment on a scalloped edge square of Sahara Sand card stock, cut with the Squares Layering Framelits.  Then I popped the whole thing onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

all-things-thanks-delicate-details-8-stamps-n-lingers
For a little more texture, I adhered a couple of wooden hearts from the Sending Love Embellishment pack, using some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  And I finished it up with a tiny bow tied with Linen Thread adhered with an oh-so-tiny drop of Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front! 🙂

On the inside, I SNAILd a piece of Very Vanilla card stock to a Sahara Sand mat.  Then I matted a strip of Falling in Love DSP to another strip of Sahara Sand and then to the panel.  Over that I wrapped a length of the Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

all-things-thanks-delicate-details-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the liner into my Blushing Bride card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got one of the Sealed with Love fleur-de-doo’s in Blushing Bride on the front, plus a couple of flowerdy hearts  in the corners…

all-things-thanks-delicate-details-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and some more of the oh-so-pretty Falling in Love DSP on the envelope flap.

all-things-thanks-delicate-details-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I think this would be a perfect card for a new bride to send as a thank you, don’t you?  These are both wonderful stamp sets, and I think the Falling in Love DSP is about the prettiest I’ve seen in a long while! Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! So In Love Sneak Peek!

Hey, y’all – how goes the weekend for you?  We had hephalumps and woozles flying by all day!  That is to say…it was windy as all get out on Saturday!  And the cold front came thru overnight – teasing us with clouds on Saturday morning.  But it was a total tease – not a drop dropped on us.

Finn was introduced to the joy of having leaves (i.e.: toys!) falling all willy and nilly from the sky and blowing hither and yon.  He liked it just fine!  Did a lot of leaping about and snatching them from mid-air!  I tried to get a picture of him, but…I was laughing too hard and he was galumphing about too much.  So…I captured him when we sat down to do our blog post.

finn-blogging-by-the-chair
Chasing leaves is hard work.  He delegated the blog post to me, because blogging is also hard work.  Especially if you have paws for hands and no thumbs.  Gives a whole new meaning to “hunt and peck”! 🙂  He’s laying plastered up against the chair in the kitchen where I work during the week and do much of my our blogging.  I’m in my spot and he’s in his.  It floors me how quickly we’ve all fallen into the routine – especially him.  And how much I love the little mongrel already!

My card for today is not a Thanksgiving card.  Nope.  You’ll see a couple more of those before the big day – hope your turkey is thawing! – but for today…how’s about a sneak peek of a beautiful new Suite in the Occasions Catalog?  Falling In Love…is a soft and romantic suite.  I used the stamp set called So in Love and the gorgeous Falling in Love DSP.  And called on the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits for a sentiment.

Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Bells Christmas Wedding

Morning, y’all – Happy Monday!  It is happy, too – cuz I don’t have to work!!

Well – at least not at work work.  I do have to finish the little mess I started yesterday.  Decided to get brutal in the pantry.  Like…if I’d forgotten I had something, it was gone!  Then I happened to notice the cabinets – before I finished the pantry – and sort of went off on a tangent.  My island is wide and has doors on both sides of it.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t have slide out shelves (don’t think they existed in the 70’s….).  So…if you put something at the front of the cabinet – you can see it and even use it.  Put it behind that, though….and it’s lost.  I might even have found the place that socks go when you lose them in the dryer.  Ravioli plate?  Pasta Maker?  Huh.  Extra crock pot crock with no pot?  Yep.

The downside of my sudden end-of-the-contemplation-and-beginning-of-the-implementation is that I ran out of steam before the completion of said implementation.

So I have a kitchen full of stuff that needs to make it’s way to the van.  And I ran out of boxes.

Which means that’s on the agenda for today.  Bleh…. 🙁

But, let’s talk about something fun – like my card for today, shall we?  I made a Christmas Wedding card.  My parents were married at Christmas and I always thought that would be a cool time of year to get married.  With the church all decorated for Christmas.  Beautiful!

So making a card for a Christmas wedding seemed like a really good idea.  I used the new Seasonal Bells – which has both Christmas and Wedding sentiments!  And I added a great sentiment from the Floral Phrases stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Flourishing Phrases and Flowers for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  I’m glad you were able to stop by and appreciate you spending a little bit of your day with us.  Today we all worked a color sketch and I’m excited (and hope you are, too! 🙂 ) to see what all the ladies-who-hop have come up with as they work their crafty magic on this classic color combo:

13508855_10210027027540553_6719721927993805680_n
Pretty, huh?  Gave us all a chance to play with the new Copper embellishments….Metallic Thread, Embossing Powder….Washi Tape.

I decided to play with the Flourishing Phrases stamp set – it’s got so many great sentiments and, of course, the beautiful….well, flourish!  I added some Botanical Blooms and the matching Botanical Builder flowers.  And as a starting touch….I used the Detailed Floral Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! For the New Two Botanicals for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2

Mornin’, y’all –  it’s Thursday and that means it’s Blog Hop Day!  All our Happy Stampers are hopping today, so I know you’ve got a bunch of great projects to see today!  Please take a minute to check them all out – and maybe leave us a comment or two.  We love hearing what you think of our efforts each week! 🙂

Yesterday I shared a very elegant Wedding card with you – that I also told you was completely not the right card for my friend – who is getting married this weekend – in good jeans, a nice white linen shirt and a Blue western jacket.  Please don’t take that as any sort of criticism at all – it’s her day and that is such a perfect choice of outfit for her….and she’ll be comfortable and able to relax and enjoy the day as she marries her best friend!  I meant it only to illustrate that yesterday’s card wasn’t right.

I think today’s is.  And since it’s on its way to her – I surely hope she thinks so, too!

I used the Occasions stamp sets In the Meadow and Timeless Textures, as well as the For the New Two set from the Annual Catalog.  I reprised – basically – my color scheme from yesterday, with the exception of the “color”.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! First Sight For The New Two

Good morning – I hope that you’re enjoying your week!  It’s almost over.  Be brave!

This weekend, my best friend is getting married in Nebraska.  My hubs and I aren’t going to be able to get there for it – and I’m sad about that.  But, it is what it is, and I know she understands why.  As a consolation prize, I’ve made her a batch of chocolate dipped Espresso Chocolate Chip Biscotti.  Which she asks me for every time I see or talk to her!  Their wedding invitation said “No Gifts” (this is a second marriage for them both) but I figure cookies isn’t really a gift….right? 😉

And – of course, I made her a wedding card!

I used the pretty wedding-oriented stamp set called For the New Two and a little Timeless Textures.  And First Sight, also from the Occasions catalog.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! A Beautiful Ride to Congratulate a New Couple!

Good Wednesday to y’all!  Hope that your week is going well.  I’m engrossed in trying to get back into the swing of things at home, receiving my boxes of toys from the post office, setting my stampin’ spot back up (I moved it a bit – and got all my fun new StampNStorage goodies all set up), and trying to kick my traditional post-business-trip cold.  Cuz…why not? 🙂  It really is the only way to experience the entirety of a long trip, don’t you think?

My card share today is one that I did last week in preparation for not having my stuff or the energy to get it all together to be card making for a day or two.  It uses the Wink of Stella “watercolor” technique that I did a few weeks ago (want to see that one?  Here’s the link!) paired with the Beautiful Ride stamp set from the Occasions catalog.  And, cuz I have it – I used some of the new Metallics Glitter Tape!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Bloomin’ Heart Wedding Congratulations

Mornin’, y’all!  As we hit the half-way point, I hope the week is treating you well and that you’re busily stamping away with your fave SU! products and waiting for your new Occasions goodies and FREE Sale-a-Bration toys to arrive in the mail!

My share today is a wedding card – I don’t have anyone on my list right now who needs a wedding card (at least not one that’s as Princess wedding/formal as this card turned out!), but the sketch challenge that I played with for this card just seemed to cry out for a wedding card!  I ended up using the completely perfect-for-a-wedding-card Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits, some florals from Timeless Love and both Sassy Salutations and For The New Two stamp sets for my sentiments.  Take a look-see:

Awesomely Artistic Wedding Card

Monday Monday!  And…drum roll, please….this will be my LAST Monday post from California!  You may now picture me doing a happy dance around the hotel room!!  Whoo-hooooo!!  I am SO ready!  Well, “ready” is a strong word – that might well imply that my stuff is organized, my bags are packed and I’m ready to go….the taxi’s waiting, he’s blowing his horn….oops, sorry  – channeled John Denver there for a minute!  So, I’m not literally ready to go.  Lots to do between now and heading to LA Friday.  But it’s the downhill stretch!

My friend headed back East this weekend to attend his niece’s wedding.  I – in a fit of silliness – offered to make him a wedding card (cause, you know – I wasn’t doing anything else or working 12 hour days 7 days a week or anything).  But, I offered and so I did.  But I actually made TWO – cause I wasn’t sure what he’d like for his niece.  I told him to take both of them and look and decide at his leisure!  I’m anxious to hear which one he picked…

One of the new 2015-2016 stamp sets I’ve acquired is called Awesomely Artistic.  And boy is it.  Awesome, that is!  It’s got a little bit of everything in it  – a couple of stamps that could be from the Butterfly Basics, a Gorgeous Grunge-esque stamp, and a most beautiful floral stamp.  You really need to consider adding it to your tool stash.  Anyway, the wedding colors were blue and gold (no specifics on WHICH blue!), so that’s where I started.  Take a look-see:

Blue Wedding Butterfly Outside 1 watermarked

I started with some of the lovely Shimmery White Card Stock.  First, using the fourth-from-the-center oval in the Oval Collections Framelits, I cut the sentiment mat.  I stamped the Congratulations sentiment from the Timeless Love set (another GREAT new stamp set!!) in Night of Navy.  I used a tiny dab of SNAIL to temporarily adhere the oval to the card front (also in Shimmery White).  Then, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, I stamped the beautiful floral stamp, in Smoky Slate, making sure to get part way on the card front and close to the sentiment on the oval (this is where the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig really helped – I wanted to get as close to the sentiment as possible, without covering it!).

Using my retired Metallic Gold Encore pad, I inked and stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge-esque splatter stamp.  No rhythm or reason to it – just put it around until it made me happy!  With that done, I SNAILd the sentiment onto a Night of Navy mat (cut with the next-largest oval – that would be the one FIFTH from the center!) and then used Dimensionals to adhere the entire stack to the card front – making sure I lined up the flowers.

I broke out several of the blues in my Many Marvelous Markers set – Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Marina Mist, and Pacific Point – and colored in the flowers. I also used the Marina Mist marker to highlight the veins in all the flowers.  For the leaves, I combined Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi and a touch of Old Olive.  I must make a plug here for the Many Marvelous Markers set.  Even being a bit spendy, it’s paid for itself many MANY times over.  It’s a wonderful part of my tool chest, and I can’t imagine not having it.  We now return to our regularly scheduled blog post.

At this point, I realized I’d done my usual thing. I’d smudged some Night of Navy ink onto the oval.  So, I needed a cover-up.  Enter….the Flutter-by!!  Our Flutter-by hails from the brand new Watercolor Wings bundle (15% off for the stamp set plus the matching Thinlits set….).  I first built the smaller butterfly – this is a two-step (really THREE!) stamp set – stamping him with Night of Navy and Smoky Slate, and then cutting him out with the smaller die in the new thinlits set (OBTW – you can ALSO cut this guy out with the small die from the ButterfliesThinlits).  Here’s a picture of each of the dies, side by side.  You can see what I mean!  The smallest die in each set cuts the smallest stamps in both Watercolor Wings and Butterfly Basics.  The new set cuts the die with all the same intricacies of the larger die, while the Butterflies Thinlits cuts a solid butterfly – equally beautiful, just a completely different look.  The possibilities are endless!

Butterfly Thinlit Types

Once I cut him out, I decided I wanted him to be a little more fragile and fluttery looking, so I cut another one from vellum.  Then, I smooshed the vellum die cut into the Gold Metallic ink pad – and then used a paper towel to dry it off and remove some of the ink – to make it a little more transparent.  Was that clear as mud?!?  Maybe a picture will help…

You can see that the gold isn’t solid on the vellum….can’t you?  I used a couple of glue dots to connect the two butterflies, gave him a Pearl Basic body, and stuck him to the card (ensuring I covered up the boo-boo that inspired his birth in the first place!) with some Mulit-purpose Liquid Glue. And then I SNAILd the whole shootin’-match to my Night of Navy Card base, added some more tiny pearls to the flowers and….done!  To be honest, I’m really glad (now!) that I smudged that oval – I might not have come up with the butterfly embellishment and I really think it “makes” the card!

Blue Wedding Butterfly Outside 3 watermarked

For the inside, I started with some more of the Shimmery White card stock, and stamped the sentiment from the For the New Two set in Night of Navy.  A few more gold grunge splatters finished it off.

To really complete the ensemble, I gold-grunged a Medium Whisper White envelope to pull it all together.

Shawn liked this card – as did I.  I simply love this floral image in the Awesomely Artistic set – and I think you will, too!  Next week, I’ll share the second card I made for him – and by then will know which card he selected to give to his niece!

This marks the start of my last week in California.  The chance to get in on the 2015-2016 Catalog Shares is also drawing to a close.  I’ve still got a few spaces open, so let me know if you want in on this opportunity to get a large sampling of the new papers, trims and embellishments!  The sign up form is below and the last day to sign up is 17 Jun.  That’s day after tomorrow!

And, finally, the recruiting special is racing towards the end of the line!  If you’ve ever thought about signing up, now is a seriously good time to do it.  Read on to see the deets – and don’t miss the “no obligation” part, okay?
