Stampin’ Up! Celebrate Sunflowers Fun Fold Wedding Card with a Video Tutorial!

Happy Friday, y’all!  I’m not sure what we’ll be up to on the weekend – but TODAY…I’m going to get my haircut!

I am – by turns – excited (I need it cut SO bad – and Wayne keeps saying “I could cut that for you! 😳😳😳) – and a little terrified.  Been a minute since I’ve ventured to the other side of Atlanta.  Part of me is pretty sure it’s the land of the walking COVID-spreaders.  Which is ridiculous.  Don’t judge – I have a very fertile imagination!  And three masks, so…I’m all good! 😷😷😷

But – the first “twin” wedding is approaching fast – 6 Sept!! – and…the hair situation is…dire to say the least.  Also?  I am WAY more askeered of Wayne’s potential efforts to “help” me, so – north I shall go!

On to why you came!

If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live, I appreciate you spending some time with me – if not, but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Poppy Moments to Last a Lifetime for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I made a card for you today that would be perfect for a wedding – using the Last a Lifetime stamp set and some wonderful Poppy Moments flowers.  Plus – a little Breathtaking Bouquet (which is on the Retiring List!).  Take a look-see:

And – here’s our sketch!

And I was inspired by the gorgeous bouquet, white accents and romantic feel in The Card Concept photo inspiration. I’d say my card is somewhere between Clean and Layered and Shabby Chic and Vintage!

I started by using my Stamparatus to stamp the big, beautiful floral image from the Breathtaking Bouquet background set in Pool Party on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I matted it on a piece of Pool Party with Liquid Glue for the card front.

Next, I used a die in the new Ornate Layers Die set to cut a Pool Party frame, embossed it in the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Last a Lifetime sentiment in Pool Party on a piece of Whisper White and cut it out with the long die in the Ornate Layers set.

I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I pulled out my Poppy Moments die set and used the leaves dies to cut two leaves in Vellum and two in Pool Party.  I also cut a couple of Whisper White berries with my go-to berries die in the Frosted Bouquet set.  Y’all – this die set is SO cool – and it’s GOING AWAY!!  GET IT NOW!! 🙁

I cut two solid flowers in Whisper White, two detailed flowers and several Pool Party centers. Using the splotch image in Painted Poppies, I stamped the flowers in Pool Party, then adhered the detailed flowers to the solid flowers using Liquid Glue (just in the middle).   I added the Pool Party centers with more Liquid Glue.

The final piece to prepare was a large-ish bow tied from Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding.

I dry fit everything and took my pictures…

…then got busy adhering everything with Liquid Glue.  Finally, I popped the flowers back in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I finished off the card front with a few Pool Party gems from the Holiday Rhinestone pack – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second Last a Lifetime sentiment in Pool Party to a Whisper White panel.  Around the top and bottom edges, I added the floral image from Last a Lifetime, also in Pool Party.  A single Holiday Rhinestone finished it off.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pool Party mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Last a Lifetime floral image in Pool Party on the front…

…and I added some script-covered Pool Party Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Poppies in white and blue!  Love them – and was SO glad to see that the Poppy Moments dies will be carrying over!  And – so is the Last a Lifetime set!  Whoo-hoo!!

I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Forever Parisian Blossoms Fun Fold with a Video Tutorial!

Good Friday morning, y’all!  Hope your week has been good and that Spring is springing up where you are like it is here!  We had a little rain at the beginning of the week – but…yesterday was gorgeous and the weekend is looking to be the same!  🙂

Which means it’s perfectly perfect for staying home and working around the house, craft room and yard.  And…just leave the TV off, why don’t you?  Or…watch fun things.  Not the news.  They’re busy terrifying us – I’m pretty sure I’ve had the C-19 five or twelve times in the last week! In all my 29 years, I’ve never taken my temperature during pollen season.  But…I did this week!  So…turn it off!

If you were able to join me for my YouTube Live Video yesterday –  I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

I used the gorgeous Forever Blossoms stamp set and bundled Cherry Blossoms Dies, plus paper from the Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP to make this super-easy fun fold.  Take a look-see:

The color scheme for this one is from the Global Design Project’s color challenge this week!

I saw Cindy Brumbaugh’s take on this fun-fold using the Best Dressed suite and decided I needed to give it a go!

I started with a piece of So Saffron card stock cut at 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  I scored it at the 4 1/4″ mark, then, using my Paper Trimmer, I cut one side into a point.

Using a straight-edge die from the Ovals Layering Dies, I cut a 3 1/4″ oval in the pointed side of the card base.

For the inner portion, I cut a Whisper White panel and stamped the sentiment from Forever Blossoms in Pool Party in the middle.  In the corner, in Basic Gray Ink, I stamped the big and beautiful floral from the set.  Then I colored it with my Petal Pink and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Combo packs.

I took a piece of 4 1/2″ x 5 1/8″ paper from the Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP and scored the long edge at 3 7/8″.  Using SNAIL on that small folded section, I adhered the panel behind the inner liner on the right side.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into the card base.

For the front sentiment, I cut two of the largest oval Stitched Shapes die and, on one of them, stamped the Forever Blossoms sentiment in Pool Party.  Then I adhered it to the second oval with Liquid Glue and then to the card front – using the oval cut-out as a guide.

To decorate the front, I used the Cherry Blossoms Dies to cut a Champagne Foil “stem” and adhered it with Liquid Glue to the left of the oval opening.

I cut a bunch of Petal Pink flowers and Pool Party leaves (these are cutting-and-embossing dies, so…spritz the card stock with water first to make lovely deep emboss lines!).  Then I used Liquid Glue and a couple of Dimensionals to adhere them ever-so-creatively to the branch!

From So Saffron, I cut more of the flowers so that I’d have their little centers – which I adhered in the middle of the Petal Pink flowers (using a little tiny piece of scotch tape on the back!).  I also cut some So Saffron flower centers and adhered them to the larger flowers.

I added a Champagne Rhinestone Jewel to the front sentiment oval and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another of the Forever Blossoms floral images in Basic Gray, Petal Pink and Pool Party on the front…

…and more of the Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think that large floral in the Forever Blossoms set is one of our very prettiest, don’t you?  And the wonderful flowers, leaves and “pretties’ in the Cherry Blossoms Die set….are wunnermus!  All of which perfectly play off the Parisian Blossoms Specialty DSP!!  I hope you like!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn heard his fans.

He heard your admiration for his “up-ears” look the other day.

So…he’s decided to train.

His ears.

You know – to be “up ears” when he’s obviously a flop-ear dog.

He’s a man of the people and will do whatever is necessary to keep his fans happy.

The training is strenuous, but he’s smart – he does it in intervals.

Lay very still – ears “up” – for an hour or so.

Get up – ears naturally flop – do some “stuff”.

Repeat.  All day long.

Yes – he’s quite dedicated.  Eventually – it WILL work.  He’s certain of it!

Stampin’ Up! Dandelion Wishes and Magnolias

Happy Friday, y’all!  Are you ready for a weekend?  I am – you’d think this had NOT been a four-day week! 🙂

So – we’ve been invited to an…odd?…party in a couple of weeks.  Apparently there’s going to be food and drink and games and karaoke and a wedding and some prizes and…wait.  What now?

A wedding?

Yes.  A wedding might “break out”.  Like…a flash-mob?

I haven’t a clue.  But – like military wives of yore (at least I HOPE it’s all “yore” now!) – I’m going to – figuratively – have my white gloves in my purse.  JIC.

In this instance, my “white gloves” will be a wedding-appropriate card just waiting to be signed.

You know.  If a Wedding. Breaks. Out. 😉

It was actually pretty quick and easy and uses one of my favorite (and carrying over!) stamp sets – called Dandelion Wishes.  And I paired it with some new Magnolia Lane DSP!  Take a look-see:

15822762_10211923272945503_223384966683691578_n

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  If you’re following along with us, you’ll know this is color week!  Be sure to check out all our talented ladies-who-hop! 🙂

Now – the colors we’re working with today – not really easy ones for me!

15726580_10211887781018227_8575702416860075941_n
Since I needed all my brain power to create something in this color scheme, I let the fine folks over at the Fusion challenge help me with the layout…

fusion-sketch
Fusion is a cool one – cuz you can do their sketch, their photo inspiration, or both!  I used just the sketch.

Duh – right?? 🙂

So – I decided this was a beachy color scheme and pulled out the new Day at the Beach stamp set, and once again turned to the Sunshine Sayings set for my sentiment.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Falling For You for a Wedding

Happy Tuesday, y’all!  Back to work – hope your long weekend was relaxing.  Or productive.  Whichever you wanted it to be! 🙂  I got…part of my list done.  At least the Christmas tree is put away for another year!

I had some help card making today.

finn-between-my-legs-under-the-table
Those lips just crack me up!  I’m not sure what, exactly, he wanted right here.  Some form of attention, no doubt.  He got his picture taken, instead.

Okay – and I kissed his schnoozle.

How could I not?!? 🙂

The card he was trying to help me with is one I made as a contender to give to my friend for his wedding in February.  I used the new Falling For You stamp set and some Falling in Love DSP, with the So Detailed Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! So In Love Sneak Peek!

Hey, y’all – how goes the weekend for you?  We had hephalumps and woozles flying by all day!  That is to say…it was windy as all get out on Saturday!  And the cold front came thru overnight – teasing us with clouds on Saturday morning.  But it was a total tease – not a drop dropped on us.

Finn was introduced to the joy of having leaves (i.e.: toys!) falling all willy and nilly from the sky and blowing hither and yon.  He liked it just fine!  Did a lot of leaping about and snatching them from mid-air!  I tried to get a picture of him, but…I was laughing too hard and he was galumphing about too much.  So…I captured him when we sat down to do our blog post.

finn-blogging-by-the-chair
Chasing leaves is hard work.  He delegated the blog post to me, because blogging is also hard work.  Especially if you have paws for hands and no thumbs.  Gives a whole new meaning to “hunt and peck”! 🙂  He’s laying plastered up against the chair in the kitchen where I work during the week and do much of my our blogging.  I’m in my spot and he’s in his.  It floors me how quickly we’ve all fallen into the routine – especially him.  And how much I love the little mongrel already!

My card for today is not a Thanksgiving card.  Nope.  You’ll see a couple more of those before the big day – hope your turkey is thawing! – but for today…how’s about a sneak peek of a beautiful new Suite in the Occasions Catalog?  Falling In Love…is a soft and romantic suite.  I used the stamp set called So in Love and the gorgeous Falling in Love DSP.  And called on the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits for a sentiment.

Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Bells Christmas Wedding

Morning, y’all – Happy Monday!  It is happy, too – cuz I don’t have to work!!

Well – at least not at work work.  I do have to finish the little mess I started yesterday.  Decided to get brutal in the pantry.  Like…if I’d forgotten I had something, it was gone!  Then I happened to notice the cabinets – before I finished the pantry – and sort of went off on a tangent.  My island is wide and has doors on both sides of it.  Unfortunately, it doesn’t have slide out shelves (don’t think they existed in the 70’s….).  So…if you put something at the front of the cabinet – you can see it and even use it.  Put it behind that, though….and it’s lost.  I might even have found the place that socks go when you lose them in the dryer.  Ravioli plate?  Pasta Maker?  Huh.  Extra crock pot crock with no pot?  Yep.

The downside of my sudden end-of-the-contemplation-and-beginning-of-the-implementation is that I ran out of steam before the completion of said implementation.

So I have a kitchen full of stuff that needs to make it’s way to the van.  And I ran out of boxes.

Which means that’s on the agenda for today.  Bleh…. 🙁

But, let’s talk about something fun – like my card for today, shall we?  I made a Christmas Wedding card.  My parents were married at Christmas and I always thought that would be a cool time of year to get married.  With the church all decorated for Christmas.  Beautiful!

So making a card for a Christmas wedding seemed like a really good idea.  I used the new Seasonal Bells – which has both Christmas and Wedding sentiments!  And I added a great sentiment from the Floral Phrases stamp set.  Take a look-see:

For the New Two Wedding Card

Hello, Thursday – come on Friday! 🙂  Been a long week out here in CA – long days, and short nights – and I’m very much looking forward to a weekend (i.e.: hair and makeup NOT done!) and a little sleep.  And some time to make cards! And grocery shop – the weekend chores don’t really go away, do they – they just change up a little bit!

But, I did get a chance this week to make a card for a friend.  His best friend from his childhood is getting married next week, and I offered to make him a special wedding card to give the happy couple.  I really wanted to use the new Sheer Perfection Vellum Designer stack.  And, of course, I just HAD to have a new stamp set – you know, to be sure I had just the right sentiments to finish the card.  So – I bought the For the New Two stamp set and some Sahara Sand ink, to match the Sahara Sand card stock that my head was busily designing the card around.  After just a few minutes of deliberation when I sat down at my “crafting table” (in actuality the kitchen table in my hotel room), I changed my plans and dove into the card you see below.  I am ridiculously happy with how the entire ensemble (yes, I made an envelope, too) turned out.  Take a look-see!

For the New Two Wedding Card Outside 4 watermarked

I went tall-and-skinny for this one, starting with a Sahara Sand card base.  The card front is a piece of Pink Pirouette CS, that I edged with the darkest Pink Pirouette Blendability.  SNAIL’d to that is another piece of Sahara Sand CS.  The art itself is one of the pretty designs in the new Sheer Perfection Vellum Designer Stack – that I colored with the dark Pink Pirouette Blendy.  Tip:  turn the vellum over and color the BACK of the paper.  I noticed that the design started to smudge a little when I tried to color it on the front.  Once I figured out the code, as it were, it colored quickly and easily.  I let myself be a little-less-than-perfect on the coloring (gasp! I didn’t stay inside the lines!!).  I like the touch of informality the slightly “messy” coloring gives the card.

When I got done with my coloring project, I finished the cut edges of the vellum by again edging with the dark Pink Pirouette Blendy.  Oh – to do this just hold the larger tipped end straight up and run the paper edge horizontally along the edge.  You can add more if you want more, or keep it light.  Up to you!

I inked up the sentiment from the For the New Two set in SU Basic Black.  Now, this sentiment has flowers on the bottom of it – that I didn’t want on the card.  So, I covered them ever-so-carefully with Post-It notes.  Then, because my notes weren’t too stuck on, I inked the stamp by tapping the upside-down-ink-pad on the stamp.  I was also pretty hard-over on where – exactly! – the sentiment needed to go, so that it would be clear of the flowers.  So, I first stamped the Stamp-a-ma-jig clear sheet with the sentiment (after removing the Post-Its).  Then I had to re-apply more stickies to re-ink the stamp to actually put on the card.  It sounds a lot more complex than it really is and it was well worth the little bit of extra effort!

To attach the vellum to the now sentiment-stamped Sahara Sand card front, I used a glue dot in each corner.  I’d already decided to use Pink Pirouette hearts, punched with the Hearts Border Punch, in each corner (cause I knew I would need to cover up whatever adhesive I used), so I made sure that my glue dots were equally positioned in each corner.  A tiny dab with the SU 2-way Glue Pen was all that was needed to stick the hearts where they needed to be, and a Pearl Basic Jewel finished each of the hearts off.  Then I spent some time adhering the tiniest of the Pearl Basic Jewels to the centers of some of the vellum flowers.  I have no idea how many there are – I just kept adding them until I thought it looked right – but I kept them in the top part of the flowers.

I wrapped a length of the 7/8″ Sahara Sand Lace Trim around and taped it to the back of the layered mat, and then finished that off with some Blushing Bride (apropos, no?!?!) Baker’s Twine. And then I stuck one last pearl in the center of the BT bow.  Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand and Pearls.  Perfect!  The card front was done when I popped it onto the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside, I used a piece of Pink Pirouette, edged with the dark Blendy of the same color.  And then guess what I discovered?  The new Sale-A-Bration stamp set Nature’s Perfection has a stamp with a flower that looks just like the flowers on the Sheer Perfection Vellum!!!  Coincidence?!?  Knowing Stampin’ Up! I suspect not! 🙂  So – I stamped those all across the bottom in Sahara Sand, and then added the sentiment.  I texted my friend and gave him the choice of the two sentiments I’d identified for the inside, so he got to pick the one he liked best.  Here’s how it looks:

Now – at this point, I’d normally add some stamped embellishments to a Medium Envelope and call it good, but…this is a special card.  So – I found an appropriately sized piece of the Occasions Irresistibly Yours DSP – with some flowers – and sponged it with Pink Pirouette Ink.  And then used the Envelope Punch Board to make a custom envelope (pink-flower-side in).  And THEN, cause I was on a roll (and also don’t have any of the SU Sticky Strip tape), I punched out a heart with the Sweetheart Punch from a little of the remaining Irresistibly Yours DSP and stuck a piece of Double Sided Tape onto the back of it.  When I gave it to Dave, I told him to use it to close the envelope when he was ready.  Here ’tis – what do you think?

Yea – I stamped more of the flowers across the front of the envelope in Sahara Sand and Pink Pirouette.  Couldn’t help myself!

Anyway – Dave was pleased with the result, as was I.  I hope that you like it as well!

There’s only 27 days left to get in on Sale-A-Bration and to get these great new stamp sets and the vellum stack that I used in this project.  Don’t miss out – I don’t know when (or if!) we’ll see these items again! And Sale-A-Bration also means the chance to earn MORE Hostess Dollars with a qualifying workshop or individual order than at any other time of the year.  It’s win-win!

BLENDABILITIES QUALITY ISSUES

Stampin’ Up! released the following announcement about the Blendabilities line.  While this is disappointing, it’s something of a testament to the company that they’re addressing an issue they find unacceptable in an up-front manner.  At this point, I don’t know exactly what the issue is, but I’ll bring you guys more information as I get it.

——————–

February 27, 2015
We are experiencing a quality issue with our Blendabilities product line. Except for the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (item #132708) and the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad Refill (item #133456), all item numbers have been turned off; this includes Blendabilities Sale-A-Bration item numbers.

At this time, backorders for Blendabilities will not be fulfilled.

We thank you for your patience and will update you as soon as we have more information.
