Stampin’ Up! Bloomin’ Heart Wedding Congratulations

Mornin’, y’all!  As we hit the half-way point, I hope the week is treating you well and that you’re busily stamping away with your fave SU! products and waiting for your new Occasions goodies and FREE Sale-a-Bration toys to arrive in the mail!

My share today is a wedding card – I don’t have anyone on my list right now who needs a wedding card (at least not one that’s as Princess wedding/formal as this card turned out!), but the sketch challenge that I played with for this card just seemed to cry out for a wedding card!  I ended up using the completely perfect-for-a-wedding-card Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits, some florals from Timeless Love and both Sassy Salutations and For The New Two stamp sets for my sentiments.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Lovely as a Tree and Timeless Love say “Happy Anniversary”!

Hey Mike Mike Mike!  What day is it, Mike?!?  It’s HAWMP-day!! LOL.  That commercial just cracks me up every time I see it!  Which isn’t all that often unless I’ve screwed up and am watching something in real-time and not on my DVR.  Which is almost never!  But, I digress….

I have a lovely anniversary card to share with you today.  It uses two of my fave stamp sets – Lovely as a Tree and Timeless Love.  One as old as the hills (rumor has it that it’s been in the SU! catalog since the very first catalog was published!) and one brand new.

This was a request-card from my mom for her good friend’s anniversary.  She asked for something “woodsy”.  I think I got it!  Take a look-see:

Welcome, Sweet Lamb…..not a book card……

Happy Monday, y’all.  When I got ready to share the Wedding Book Card that I’ve been promising you, I went to my computer bag and pulled out the sheets of paper (only there was only one….strange…..) that I’d so carefully written my card recipe on before I gave the card away in CA.  But, neither side said “Wedding Card – Book Style” (which I’m quite QUITE sure is what I wrote on the top of the paper).  Hmmm.  I tore my computer bag apart.  I searched on the kitchen island, the dining table, my “office” area, the bedroom dresser, my suitcases (still not unpacked!)…..and nothing.  I KNOW I put that paper in my bag.  I’m sure of it.  And yet – it’s.  Just.  Gone.  So, I must apologize.  I really wanted to show you guys how to make that card!  But I can’t do it without the measurements and card cuts – and I don’t have them OR the card to re-measure!  So…..  I’m going to show you a DIFFERENT card today.  And then I’m going to make ANOTHER book card – and THEN I’ll show you how to do it.  Promise.

Or – as is just as likely to happen – I’ll find that dratted piece of paper where I have no expectation of finding it – and THEN I’ll show you all the deets!

I am sorry.  Also, I apologize! 🙁

But – here’s my share for you today – it’s a baby card, and it uses the new 2015-2016 In Colors, and the new Circle of Spring and Baryard Babies stamp sets!  Take a look-see:

Welcome Sweet Lamb Outside 1 watermarked

I started by running a piece of Mint Macaron card stock thru my Big Shot in the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then I SNAILd it to my Watermelon Wonder card base.  Then I pulled out a piece of Shimmery White card stock and used the matching Wonderful Wreath Framelits die to cut out the wreath center before I stamped the wreath.  Here’s a PSA for you and this is kind of cool.  This die set not only matches the Wondrous Wreath stamp set for Christmas, but it ALSO matches the new Circle of Spring stamp set.  Double bang for the buck!!  And – you can GET the stamp and framelits set in a bundle and save another 15%!

Anywho…..Once I’d cut out the center, I stamped the wreath image from the Circle of Spring Set, in Mint Macaron.  Then I ran the card stock back thru the Big Shot with the wreath die – the Magnetic Platform really comes in handy for this.

Et Voila!  One spring-y wreath!

Welcome Sweet Lamb Front Close-up watermarked

I stamped the totally adorable lamb from Barnyard Babies in Tip Top Taupe on a small scrap of the Shimmery White card stock and SNAIL’d that to the Mint mat – being sure it was going to be right in the middle of my wreath.  Then I used some Dimensionals to attach the wreath over the top of my little fleecy fellow. I colored some of the flowers, leaves and hearts with my new Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon and Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write Markers.  The bow and additional flowers are stamped from the Circle of Spring set again (although they actually match the same flower and bow in the Wondrous Wreath Set!), using Watermelon Wonder ink on Watermelon Wonder card stock.  I used some glue dots to adhere them to the wreath.  The banner is another scrap of the Shimmery White, with the sentiment from Barnyard Babies in Mint Macaron.  I used the new Triple Punch to take it from rectangle to banner, edged it with the Mint Macaron Marker, SNAIL’d it to the wreath and then added the flower accent.

Welcome Sweet Lamp card and envelope 2 watermarked

I added some Pearl Basic Jewels, a Mint Macaron 2015-2016 In Color Blossom Accent, and a little double bow from the new Gold Metallic Thread.  And that finished off the front of the card!

For the inside, I went to my Hello Life stamp set, and added Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder accents across the bottom of a piece of Shimmery White.  The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs set in Mint Macaron.  After I stamped it, I covered it with a sticky note (crafter’s best tool!!) and added the little lamb, again in Tip Top Taupe.

Welcome Sweet Lamb Inside watermarked

I punched a few hearts out using my Heart Border and Itty Bitty Heart punches, and stuck them on kind of randomly.  I bet you’re thinking that I did this because I must have made a smudge of ink.

Well, I NEVER!  Of all the things for you to think.  Man.  The temerity of some blog-readers…..oh.  Wait.  Well.  Actually…..yea, come to think of it …..I DID smudge some ink.  Just a teensy bit!!  But, enough to need a cover up…..sorry I berated you.  You know me too well! But, in for a penny, in for a pound – so I took advantage of the opportunity to add – of course! – a few little seed pearls to their centers! 🙂

I completed the ensemble by stamping the Hello Life accents on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope – and I was done!

Welcome Sweet Lamb card and envelope 1 watermarked

The card went in a package with a completely cute onesie for the new arrival.  I hope the new parents enjoyed receiving the card as much as I liked making it – I feel pretty confident that young Wyatt probably didn’t care one way or the other! 😉

Wetlands Anniversary Card from….Atlanta!!

Well, I’m home!  It’s good to be back in the land of green – would be even better if the green didn’t come with wicked high humidity, but…it does, so….  it’s all good.  It was a bittersweet return – if y’all will indulge me for just a moment.  Last week, we had to – quite suddenly – put our sweet dog Buck to sleep.  He was sick on Monday night, went to the vet Tuesday, and was gone on Wednesday evening.  He had liver failure – and we don’t know why.  Maybe never will.  We just know he’s not with us any more.  We’d had him for 11 years – and he pretty much went everywhere with us.  He will be hugely missed…..

IMG_0369

Okay – clearing throat and wiping eyes…..staying busy to keep from looking around for him…..

On to the awesome cool tunnel card that I showed you last week.  I was looking for a card to make for my husband for our wedding anniversary (25 years – holy smokes!) – and this technique, the Timeless Love and Wetlands stamp sets and the Hardwood background stamp just seemed to fit the bill.  Take a look-see:

Anniversary Tunnel Card Outside 1 watermarked

You’ll see the inside in just a second, promise!  I started by cutting a full sheet of Very Vanilla card stock in half long-ways, to make two pieces that were 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″.  I set one of them aside to be the card base itself (don’t score and fold this one yet!).  The other, I laid flat and stamped in Soft Suede, using the Hardwood Stamp.  It took two full stamps to cover the entire sheet.  Then, I softened and aged it a bit by sponging around the edges with more Soft Suede.  I also rubbed around on the inside as well, but did it without adding any ink to the dauber – I just wanted to take the edge off a little, not really “color” it!

Then, I scored the stamped sheet three times to create the fold lines.  Go over to my Tutorial page to see detailed instructions for making a Tunnel Card!

Anniversary Tunnel Card Inside 1 watermarked

Okay – next, I worked on the sentiment that you can see peeking thru the window.  I took the other piece of card stock and laid my window piece over the top of it.  That let me get my sentiment lined up like I wanted it.  I used the sentiment from the new set Timeless Love in Mossy Meadow.  I stamped the birds from Wetlands in Soft Suede, and then made a sticky-note mask.  I did that by stamping the birds again on the sticky note – being sure that the stamp was on the sticky part.  Did that make sense?  Then I very roughly cut the birds out and stuck my mask over the stamped birds on my card stock.  I colored up the Wetlands grasses stamp using my Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped right over the masked birds.  Then I used my Marina Mist marker to lightly color the water reflections under the birds and the sentiment was done!

Anniversary Tunnel Card Inside closeup watermarked

I scored and folded the sentiment/card base and then attached the window sheet to it, using Liquid Multi-Purpose Glue.  Put the glue only on the two ends of the cut piece – so, NOT on the center section where the oval window is cut.  The Tutorial page has a picture that really shows you where to glue and where NOT to glue!  Then I set that all aside to dry and worked on the card front.

I stamped the goose in Soft Suede onto a square of Very Vanilla that I’d rounded the corners on using the outside punch on my Envelope Punch Board.  I colored him in with my markers – Basic Black, Basic Gray, Baked Brown Sugar and Blackberry Bliss (in his neck – to add a little depth to the black) and Mossy Meadow for the grass.  The sentiment is on another corner-rounded rectangle of Very Vanilla, stamped in Mossy Meadow, and comes from the Timeless Love set.  Both these pieces are on their own Mossy Meadow mats – adhered with SNAIL.

Anniversary Tunnel Card Outside closeup watermarked

I looped some Linen Thread under the Goose Mat and then attached said Goose with Dimensionals to the sentiment mat.  The card front itself is another piece of Very Vanilla, stamped with the Hardwood stamp in Soft Suede.  Like all the pieces on the front – I also sponged the edges of the front with Soft Suede.  I SNAILd the Hardwood-stamped piece to a Mossy Meadow mat and then SNAILd that to the card front.  The layered sentiment mat is also SNAILd on.  And that completed the card!

Anniversary Tunnel Card Outside 1 watermarked

Or did it?!?  I decided to play around on the inside some more.  I stamped and colored another goose on a scrap of Very Vanilla.  He’s colored exactly the same way as the dude on the front.  Then I cut him out with my snips – not real precisely – and edged the piece with my Soft Suede marker.  I fiddled around with the placement of some Dimensionals on the back of him, and then stuck him inside the card.  You do have to be sure your shape doesn’t impinge on the folds….  But it’s a great finishing touch to the card!  And THAT made the card complete:

Anniversary Tunnel Card Outside and envelope 2 watermarked

I quick-like-a-bunny stamped a Crumb Cake Medium Envelope with more grass and birds – Soft Suede on the birds, and Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow for the grass.  That gave me a completely pulled together card – and I can’t wait to give it to him!   This is such a cool and easy technique.  And this particular card could easily be used for a guy’s birthday – just change the inside sentiment!  I hope you like it as much as I do!  And don’t forget to head over to the Tutorial page to see the detailed instructions for putting your OWN tunnel card together!

Awesomely Artistic Wedding Card

Monday Monday!  And…drum roll, please….this will be my LAST Monday post from California!  You may now picture me doing a happy dance around the hotel room!!  Whoo-hooooo!!  I am SO ready!  Well, “ready” is a strong word – that might well imply that my stuff is organized, my bags are packed and I’m ready to go….the taxi’s waiting, he’s blowing his horn….oops, sorry  – channeled John Denver there for a minute!  So, I’m not literally ready to go.  Lots to do between now and heading to LA Friday.  But it’s the downhill stretch!

My friend headed back East this weekend to attend his niece’s wedding.  I – in a fit of silliness – offered to make him a wedding card (cause, you know – I wasn’t doing anything else or working 12 hour days 7 days a week or anything).  But, I offered and so I did.  But I actually made TWO – cause I wasn’t sure what he’d like for his niece.  I told him to take both of them and look and decide at his leisure!  I’m anxious to hear which one he picked…

One of the new 2015-2016 stamp sets I’ve acquired is called Awesomely Artistic.  And boy is it.  Awesome, that is!  It’s got a little bit of everything in it  – a couple of stamps that could be from the Butterfly Basics, a Gorgeous Grunge-esque stamp, and a most beautiful floral stamp.  You really need to consider adding it to your tool stash.  Anyway, the wedding colors were blue and gold (no specifics on WHICH blue!), so that’s where I started.  Take a look-see:

Blue Wedding Butterfly Outside 1 watermarked

I started with some of the lovely Shimmery White Card Stock.  First, using the fourth-from-the-center oval in the Oval Collections Framelits, I cut the sentiment mat.  I stamped the Congratulations sentiment from the Timeless Love set (another GREAT new stamp set!!) in Night of Navy.  I used a tiny dab of SNAIL to temporarily adhere the oval to the card front (also in Shimmery White).  Then, using my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig, I stamped the beautiful floral stamp, in Smoky Slate, making sure to get part way on the card front and close to the sentiment on the oval (this is where the Stamp-a-Ma-Jig really helped – I wanted to get as close to the sentiment as possible, without covering it!).

Using my retired Metallic Gold Encore pad, I inked and stamped with the Gorgeous Grunge-esque splatter stamp.  No rhythm or reason to it – just put it around until it made me happy!  With that done, I SNAILd the sentiment onto a Night of Navy mat (cut with the next-largest oval – that would be the one FIFTH from the center!) and then used Dimensionals to adhere the entire stack to the card front – making sure I lined up the flowers.

Blue Wedding Butterfly Outside 2 watermarked

I broke out several of the blues in my Many Marvelous Markers set – Soft Sky, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Marina Mist, and Pacific Point – and colored in the flowers. I also used the Marina Mist marker to highlight the veins in all the flowers.  For the leaves, I combined Pear Pizzazz, Wild Wasabi and a touch of Old Olive.  I must make a plug here for the Many Marvelous Markers set.  Even being a bit spendy, it’s paid for itself many MANY times over.  It’s a wonderful part of my tool chest, and I can’t imagine not having it.  We now return to our regularly scheduled blog post.

At this point, I realized I’d done my usual thing. I’d smudged some Night of Navy ink onto the oval.  So, I needed a cover-up.  Enter….the Flutter-by!!  Our Flutter-by hails from the brand new Watercolor Wings bundle (15% off for the stamp set plus the matching Thinlits set….).  I first built the smaller butterfly – this is a two-step (really THREE!) stamp set – stamping him with Night of Navy and Smoky Slate, and then cutting him out with the smaller die in the new thinlits set (OBTW – you can ALSO cut this guy out with the small die from the ButterfliesThinlits).  Here’s a picture of each of the dies, side by side.  You can see what I mean!  The smallest die in each set cuts the smallest stamps in both Watercolor Wings and Butterfly Basics.  The new set cuts the die with all the same intricacies of the larger die, while the Butterflies Thinlits cuts a solid butterfly – equally beautiful, just a completely different look.  The possibilities are endless!

Butterfly Thinlit Types

Once I cut him out, I decided I wanted him to be a little more fragile and fluttery looking, so I cut another one from vellum.  Then, I smooshed the vellum die cut into the Gold Metallic ink pad – and then used a paper towel to dry it off and remove some of the ink – to make it a little more transparent.  Was that clear as mud?!?  Maybe a picture will help…

Blue Wedding Butterfly Outside Closeup watermarked

You can see that the gold isn’t solid on the vellum….can’t you?  I used a couple of glue dots to connect the two butterflies, gave him a Pearl Basic body, and stuck him to the card (ensuring I covered up the boo-boo that inspired his birth in the first place!) with some Mulit-purpose Liquid Glue. And then I SNAILd the whole shootin’-match to my Night of Navy Card base, added some more tiny pearls to the flowers and….done!  To be honest, I’m really glad (now!) that I smudged that oval – I might not have come up with the butterfly embellishment and I really think it “makes” the card!

Blue Wedding Butterfly Outside 3 watermarked

For the inside, I started with some more of the Shimmery White card stock, and stamped the sentiment from the For the New Two set in Night of Navy.  A few more gold grunge splatters finished it off.

Blue Wedding Butterfly Inside 1 watermarked

To really complete the ensemble, I gold-grunged a Medium Whisper White envelope to pull it all together.

Blue Wedding Butterfly Card and Envelope watermarked

Shawn liked this card – as did I.  I simply love this floral image in the Awesomely Artistic set – and I think you will, too!  Next week, I’ll share the second card I made for him – and by then will know which card he selected to give to his niece!

This marks the start of my last week in California.  The chance to get in on the 2015-2016 Catalog Shares is also drawing to a close.  I’ve still got a few spaces open, so let me know if you want in on this opportunity to get a large sampling of the new papers, trims and embellishments!  The sign up form is below and the last day to sign up is 17 Jun.  That’s day after tomorrow!

And, finally, the recruiting special is racing towards the end of the line!  If you’ve ever thought about signing up, now is a seriously good time to do it.  Read on to see the deets – and don’t miss the “no obligation” part, okay?

First Annual Stamps-N-Lingers Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog Shares!

new-catalog-shares

If you’ve been browsing the new catalog – (do you put “want” next to the things you, well – want? – like I do?) and every page has a “want” or SEVERAL “wants”, a catalog share might be a great way for you to get a sampling of all the new papers, ribbons and embellishments – without having to shell out the full cost.  If you bought all of these products individually, they’d cost over $440!

I’m going to place the Share order the last week I’m in CA (that’s in less than two weeks – whoo-hoo!!), and have the items delivered to Atlanta.  As soon as the Big Box O’Fun arrives, I’ll divide everything up and get your share out to you quick like a bunny!

Here’s what’s on the table – I’m doing two types of Shares!

1. New Designer Series Paper Share – $37.00 plus $5 for Priority Mail shipping. In all, you’ll receive 218 6” x 6” sheets of designer papers!

You’ll get one 6×6 sheet of each design from the following DSP packs (the number behind the name indicates how many 6×6 sheets of that paper pack you will receive):

Color Me Irresistible Specialty – 12
Everyday Chic – 6
Bohemian – 6
English Garden – 6
Farmer’s Market – 6
Sweet Lil’ Things – 6
Merry Moments – 6
Timeless Elegance – 6
Schoolhouse – 6
2015-17 In Color DSP Stacks – 10
2014-16 In Color DSP Stacks – 10
Brights DSP Stacks – 20
Regals DSP Stacks – 20
Subtles DSP Stacks – 20
Neutrals DSP Stacks – 20
Glasssine Sheets – 2
Corrugated Paper – 2
Cotton Paper Assortment – 4
Neutrals Envelope Paper – 4
2015-17 In Color Envelope Paper – 10

***Please Note: The Neutrals and Regals Designer Series Paper Stacks are not available for ordering right now (although they very well may be when I order in two weeks!). If you join my share, and they’re not available for me to order at the time, I’ll get them ordered just as soon as they’re available and I’ll ship those papers out to you when they arrive. I won’t hold up the rest of the share – I’ll get it ordered and sent out as soon as I can.

You’ll also get one 6” x6” sheet of each design from the following DSP Stacks (the number behind the name indicates how many 6×6 sheets of that paper pack you will receive):

Go Wild – 12
Cherry on Top – 12
Pretty Petals – 12

2. New Ribbon and Embellishment Share – $32.25 plus $3.50 for 1st Class Mail shipping for a full Ribbon & Embellishment share. With a full Ribbon & Embellishment Share you’ll receive 45 yards of new ribbon and 20 new embellishments!  Here’s what you’ll get:

Approximately 1 yard of the new 5/8″ Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon

Approximately 3 yards of each of the new Thick Baker’s Twines

  • Bermuda Bay
  • Calypso Coral
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Smoky Slate

Approximately 2 yards of each new 5/8” Striped Cotton Ribbon

And – you’ll get the following embellishments

  • Expressions Natural Elements – 1 of each word
  • Metal Rimmed Pearls – 2 of each size
  • Classy Designer Buttons – 2 of each design

Want it all? $69 – and you’ll get shares of all of the new Designer Series Papers, Designer Series Paper Stacks, ribbons and embellishments. Plus I’ll ship it for free!

And if you’d like double shares of either the designer paper or ribbon, that’s fine too. I’ll cut the designer paper sheets into 6×12 so that you’ll be able to get 3 full A2 size card fronts from each sheet (except for the Go Wild, Cherry on Top and Pretty Petals DSP Stacks, you’ll get double sheets of those since they’re already precut at 6″x6″!).

Anyone is welcome to join in my share (please note, I can only ship to addresses within the US). If you’d like to join us, either complete the form below or email the following information to stamps-n-lingers@comcast.net

  • Your first and last name
  • The email address that is connected to your Paypal account. I only accept Paypal for payment.

Deadline to sign up for my share is Wednesday, 17 Jun at 5pm MST

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Two New Items Temporarily Unavailable

Stampin’ Up! has identified a sizing error with two of their new Designer Series Paper Stacks, and have opted to not offer the following two collections at catalog launch:

138435: Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper Stack
138436: Regals Collection Designer Series Paper Stack

They don’t expect a long delay in getting these items up to their quality standards and I’ll let you know as soon as they’re available for ordering. Thanks for your patience as they work to resolve this issue.

June 1 – 17 HOSTESS CODE: MAM3KK6Y  Use this hostess code when you order and receive a free gift from me! But, if your order is over $150, please do not use this code (you’ll miss out on your own Stampin’ Rewards/Hostess $$ if you use it) but you’ll still get the free gift. The free gift for June is your choice of any item valued up to $8.00 in the brand new 2015-16 Annual Catalog!
