Stampin’ Up! On the New Horizons Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial

Well good morning on the last day of 2021!  That’s hard to believe, isn’t it?  Wasn’t it just…yesterday that we were saying HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021?!? I think it was!!

I hope if you have plans tonight that you have a wonderful – and SAFE!! – evening!  I am sure I’ll see the arrival of 2022 – I almost always have to go to the bathroom around midnight so…will likely be awake at least enough to acknowledge that it’s happened!  LOL!  We ARE party animals! 🙂

If you were able to join me for our last YouTube of 2021 yesterday, I appreciate it!  If not, but you’d like to watch the replay, here ’tis!

Stampin’ Up! Number of Years Shutter Fold Birthday Card!

Home! Had a good flight (other than them running out of food before they got to us!) and a great last chat with Amy.  What a wonderful 5 days with her – we had a really good time.  OnStage 2016 was fun – we ate some great meals (at the hotel, surprisingly – if you ever go to SLC – try Spencer’s Steak House.  Fabulous!) – chatted and laughed and really just had fun!

And, man am I glad to be home!! 😉

Coming soon – like…this afternoon – I’ll be posting a special message with the Retiring Product List.  And then….get ready!  It’ll be time to get on the stick and get your orders in – things will go fast!

And, before you know it, it’ll be your chance to order from the truly amazing 2016-2017 Annual Catalog!  You’re so gonna love it!  Starting tomorrow I’ll be able to share some Sneak Peeks!  Hold on to yer hats!

But, for today – I have a super fun card to share with you.  It’s called a Shutter Fold – cuz the inside opens and closes like a camera shutter!  And it’s really not too hard to make, either.  I’ve posted a Tutorial here.  So, on this post, I’m going to show you how to decorate today’s card – not how to build the shutter card itself, okay?

This one is destined for my wonderful hubby’s 60th birthday which is fast approaching.  I’ve used some of the fun It’s My Party DSP and added the obligatory “60” with the Number of Years stamp set and the matching Large Number Framelits.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Floral Wings Petite Pairs Get Well!

Happy Weekend, y’all!

Heading into the last day of OnStage Live.  It’s been a great event – punctuated by lots of Prize Patrols and whoo-hoo-ing – and a great new catalog.  I’ll be bringing home a few make-and-takes, that showcase some of the new products, and I’ve taken lots of display pictures – that I’ll share with you with the updates on Tuesday!  I can’t wait for you to see the new goodies!

Convention

Today’s card is another one that uses a non-Stampin’ Up! pet stamp image.  I’ve used this cute little tilty-headed lab before – here’s a link to one, if you’re interested!  I combined it with a few images from the Host Exclusive stamp set called Floral Wings and sentiments from And Many More and Petite Pairs.  Add in some pretty DSP and, well, take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Botanicals One Big Meaning Thanks!

Update on 19 April:  I just found out that this card was picked as an Artist Pick at Hand Stamped Sentiments!  Many thanks to the talented ladies at HSS for picking my card out of all the beautiful ones submitted.  And congrats to all the picks.  You can see the other ladies’ cards here.

Hey, ya’ll – it’s Friday, which means that when you read this, I’ll still be asleep! Cuz of how I’m in Utah! At OnStage! I’m typing this on Thursday morning – I know that tonight, after the first session this afternoon – I’m going to be having pizza with a bunch of other SU! demos – and then collapsing in bed with a little light reading…

The 2016-2017 Annual Catalog!!! I’ll be flipping thru and marking everything I want (might be easier and take lots less ink to mark the things I don’t want!) and getting my pre-order in! I’ll probably even do the 2-day shipping – so I can start making projects and giving y’all a peek next week! (Update since I drafted this post on Thursday morning:  You’re seriously seriously SERIOUSLY going to love what’s in this new catalog.  I can’t start sharing any clues until Monday evening – but….trust me on this.  You need this new catalog as soon as you can get your hands on it!!)

Uh-oh…..I feel a Whooo-hoooo!! coming on! Yikes! 🙂 Update:  I did, in fact, “whoooo” a few times.  Don’t judge.  You would have, too. 😉

I wanted to share a couple more pics with y’all from our day on Wednesday. The home office is one of the prettiest buildings I’ve seen. Lots of wood paneling and crown molding. And the center atrium…..

We got a birds-eye view of the distribution canter – where everything in all our orders is “picked” and packed and shipped.  Pretty impressive pick-line!  And Stampin’ Up! goodies as far as the eye can see!

SU! Warehouse

Amy and I both wished for just 5 minutes on the pick line – if you catch my drift!! 😉

Before we got done, we wandered thru the hall of the convention center.  This is how it looked on Wednesday afternoon…..

I suspect it’ll look a lot different when we get there this afternoon! 🙂  Update:  I was right:

So – enough about OnStage for a second!  I’ll share more haps with you tomorrow, I promise.

My card for today is another thank you  – using the super One Big Meaning stamp set in the Annual Catalog.  I paired that with some clean Botanical Builder Flowers and some Color Me Irresistible DSP.  Take a look-see:

As usual, my layout didn’t come out of my own brain – I used the design inspiration from the TGIF Challenges #50: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Grateful Bunch and Petite Pairs Any Occasion card

Good morning! By the time you read this, I should be (all things being equal!) sitting on an airplane with Amy Koenders. Getting ready to wing our way to Salt Lake City. OnStage, baby!

Now, for those of you who don’t know me – I’m not really a “whoo-hoo”-er. I’ve been known to be a “WHOOP!”-er – but only at horse shows and only when my fave gaited Saddlebred is passing in front of me and I’m showing my support.

I. Don’t. Whoo-hoo. At least not “for real” – I might do it in jest…but that’s it!

Miss Amy said a scary thing the other day while we were on a Google Hangout meeting. It had to do with her plan to whoo-hoo on the plane.

A Lot.

🙁

I’m very much hoping she was joshin’ me! Otherwise, I’ll be obligated to disavow her. At least for the duration of the flight! Do lots of sleeping or pretending to sleep. Put my headphones in – hopefully there’s a good movie…

We’ll see what happens!

Any-hooch. Let’s talk about my card for today, shall we? 🙂

I went back to my favorite bundle in the Occasions catalog – the Grateful Bunch bundle. I played with some watercoloring and punching and and some Timeless Textures and then I added a sentiment from Petite Pairs. Fair warning….put yer shades on and take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Hearth and Home Sleigh Ride

Today’s share ended up being more of a CASE of my friend Amy Koenders’ card than I meant it to be.  It was a busier day that went longer than I’d planned and I didn’t even start working on my card until almost 7:30 – which is approximately 5 min before I’m thinking about bedtime!  I’d already decided I wanted to play with my new Hearth and Home Thinlits (which will be available for you guys on 1 Sept – and comes in a 15% off bundle called the Happy Scenes Photopolymer Bundle) and the new Sleigh Ride Edgelits.  I’d been thinking it would be cool to somehow use the Sleigh Ride die cuts behind the Hearth and Home window die cut and I didn’t change my mind even after seeing Amy’s card, so mine ended up being sort of like her’s and sort of not!! 😉  Take a look see at what I came up with:

Stampin’ Up! Barnyard Babies Congrats and Blog Candy #3 Winner!

We have a WINNER!!  My 100th Blog-post-iversary Blog Candy #3 will be on its way to its new home soon!  Read on down to see who the lucky winner is! Thanks to all who played and helped me celebrate 100 posts! 🙂

Now, I know that yesterday I told you to expect a card made with my new 2015 Holiday Catalog goodies.  But – we have a special event coming up and I needed a card.  And my brain had been running around an idea for a couple of days and I needed to get it made before I lost it!  Anyone able to relate to that??  Here’s what’s happening.

Chris – one of the twins I’ve told you guys about quite a bit in this blog – has (as you know!) been accepted to the University of GA School of Veterinary Medicine.  He starts class in about a week.  Sunday, they’re holding what they call The White Coat Ceremony.  We’re all going up to see what I assume is going to involve music and some cheering and some pep talks and maybe a few warnings about the difficulties and trials that lie ahead of them.  After the ceremony, we’ll tour the brand new, state of the art facilities at the school.  I’m really looking forward to going.  This is a really big deal for Chris – he’s worked so hard to get to this point, and we couldn’t be prouder of him.  As part of the deal, we’ll give him a gift of some sort (probably cash! 🙂 ) and, of course, a card!

He’s going to be a vet.  Barnyard Babies has animals.  Hello?  It’s pretty much a no-brainer.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Express Thoughts and Prayers

Good Monday morning.  My name is Mary and I am, apparently, a stamping addict!  I’m on a one-day business trip, changed time zones, drove half the day.  Before I left the house this morning, I made sure I had my card to reference to post this post, my Cottage Greetings stamp set, my Cottage Greetings card kit, my Delightful Dijon, Basic Gray and Tuxedo Black Inks, my bone folder, SNAIL, Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, craft ruler, SU! Paper Snips, and the “recipe” for my card.

Oh – and a few clothes for my meeting tomorrow!

I even remembered my make-up.  Don’t laugh – I went on a trip once – where I didn’t wear makeup on the airplane cause I was being pure lazy, and so I left my make-up bag in the second drawer in the bathroom.  Forgot earrings, too.  Had to make a mad dash to Target!! 😉  Since I drove to this meeting – I didn’t wear makeup today, either.  So it’s fortunate that I remembered everything!

Here we go!  Sadly, today’s card is going to be headed to my friends who lost their old Lab yesterday.  Black Jack – or BJ or just B – went to the Rainbow Bridge at the ripe old age of 14.  He was the patriarch of a large family of dogs – several labs, two miniature Doxies and an Australian Shepard.  He was a benelolent leader.  He was father to several beautiful and coveted litters of hunting Labs.  He was a very good boy, and he will be missed.  Jan and Ed and the twins (the same young men I’ve mentioned so often here), will miss his grinning face every day, but will carry their memories of him in their hearts.  I hope this card will let them know that I share in their sorrow.  And surely do understand it completely….

I went with the new Vintage Leaves stamp set and the matching Leaflets Framelits.  Which I bought as a 15% off bundle!  I paired it with the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set, which has so  many wonderful sentiments for this purpose.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Sunday’s Here and So is the Winner for Blog-post-iversary Candy #2!

Good morning, y’all!  Happy Sunday.  Just to start out, I wanted to thank the folks over at Can You Case It for selecting me yesterday as the top pick for their CYCI #80!!  This is my first challenge win and it was SO exciting to see the announcement!  There were LOTS of really wonderful projects in the challenge, so it was a real honor to be singled out! 🙂 Here‘s the card that won.

designteampick-001-300x300

Getting that news yesterday morning ALMOST made up for the impending Cleaning.  House cleaning, for me, is a dichotomy.  I HATE doing it.  I mean – would-rather-go-to-the-dentist hate doing it.  As my house gets dirtier and “The Cleaning” looms closer, I get a little more….unpleasant to be with.  It’s my response to looming.  On the other hand, I LOVE my house when it’s clean.  Love it.  Life is happier for all those around me.  Unfortunately, I have yet to figure out a way to go from Dirty to Clean without CleanING.  I want  – no, I NEED! – Alice – from the Brady Bunch.  If I could just win a little teensy lottery!

But, the house is now clean, so I have a reprieve for a minute, until the looming builds again!  And it was indeed lovely to have some folks over last night for a dinner of Paula Deen’s Maple Glazed Grilled Salmon.  She wasn’t here or anything, except in cookbook-form! 🙂

As I anticipated, though, our company stayed late, so no card today – sorry!  I did have an hour or so to work on a card between the end of The Cleaning and getting dinner together, but I didn’t get it done.  So – it’s in the queue for tomorrow!

But – I DO have the results of the second Blog Candy give-away celebrating my 100th Blog-Post-iversary.  Scroll down to see!

Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic Fluttering Thanks….and Blog Candy #3!

Well, as promised – here’s the final package of Blog Candy that I’m giving away to celebrate my 100th Blog-post-iversary (which actually happened last Tuesday!).  So far, we’ve had one winner!  Blog Candy package #2 is still out there to be won – go to this post to enter, before 6 PM Mountain time TONIGHT!!  Then be sure to read all the way to bottom of THIS post to find out how to win the finale Blog Candy! 🙂

Quick back story.  Y’all have surely figured out that I’m a horse person.  I’ve followed the teachings of Clinton Anderson now for several years (PSA – if YOU are a horse person, check his training method out.  It works!).  When you go to one of his clinics, there’s an exercise that he has the attendees do – in a large group of horses and riders, they all just trot or canter around the arena – with all the riders holding on to the horn of their saddle and the reins just flapping.  They’re not steering their horses at all.  The purpose is for the horse to maintain whatever gait has been asked for.  It does work, but it can get pretty….sporty.  At some point, every horse ends up trotting or cantering right up to a fence and then he gets to the fence and he makes a decision.  Left?  Right?  Well, if the rider has decided that the horse is going to go left….and the horse goes right….there’s likely to be a parting of ways.  So, Clinton always says – don’t decide which way the horse is going to go.  Stay in the middle of the saddle and don’t anticipate.  That works – cause you’re not already thinking one way, only to be….disappointed.

And what, exactly, does this story have to do with stamping and this card?  Stay with me here…..

Today’s card was inspired by CAS(E) This Sketch #135:

CTS 135 sketch

I should have called this card my “decisioning, debating, dithering” card, cause that’s what I spent quite a bit of time doing today.  I pulled out Sheltering Tree.  I took out the large leaf from Vintage Leaves.  I considered Sprinkles of Life.  Finally decided on Awesomely Artistic, because…well, just because I love it!  And here’s where the back story comes in.   I decided I was going LEFT before I knew what my horse was going to do.  Metaphorically speaking, of course.  In card-making-speak, I made an “ingredient” decision and wouldn’t let it go.  It all turned out okay, but it resulted in lots more debating and dithering to.  To be exact, I decided I was going to use the new 5/8″ Smoky Slate Chevron Ribbon.

Perhaps the analogy was looser than I thought…. ?

Here’s what I came up with.  Take a look-see:
