Stampin’ Up! Festive Corners Jar of Flowers

Good morning, y’all and happy Tuesday!

So – we’re one week away from the end of the 2020 Bonus Days coupon redemption period – if you earned coupons in July and have NOT redeemed them…then it’s probably time to get after it!  Don’t let them expire – you earned those!

And – while I KNOW that the Iowa Giving Crew will happily accept your donation ANYTIME to help the folks affected by the recent derecho storm – if you want to donate/order AND get entered to win a brand new Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine , then you need to donate directly (a minimum of $25) OR place at least a $50 order thru my Online Store – by 31 August.  Remember, when you place that order – I’ll send 20% of the retail amount to support the cause! 🙂

So.  Card!  Today I made a shaker card using the Jar of Flowers bundle from the Annual Catalog – and the fun Festive Corners stamp set from the Aug – Dec Mini.  Take a look-see:

The inspiration for this one comes from this week’s TGIF challenge.

I started with some Misty Moonlight paper from the Flowers For Every Season DSP that I matted on Daffodil Delight card stock for the card front.

Next, I stamped the jar outline from Jar of Flowers on a small piece of Whisper White in Pool Party Ink.  Then I reversed the stamp on the block and stamped it again in stamped-off-once Pool Party.

I added the stems image in Just Jade.

On a larger piece of Whisper White, I stamped the Festive Corners sentiment in Misty Moonlight.  Then I cut out the jar with the Jar Punch (which is bundled with the Jar of Flowers stamp set – so you save 10% when you buy them together!).

Atop the stamped jar image – I added a little pile (could have used a little bigger pile!) of Flowers For Every Season Gems…

…then I removed the adhesive cover from the back of a Mason Jar Dome and set it in place over the jar.

I used Liquid Glue and placed the punched sentiment panel over the top of the jar panel.  Then I matted the panel on Daffodil Delight and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front near the bottom right corner.

For the flowers, I stamped the sunflowers image from the Jar of Flowers set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink twice on Whisper White.  I colored the sunflowers with my Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends – and the Dark Mango Melody Blend (for a little depth…).  Then I fussy cut just the sunflowers – all three from one image and just the two larger ones from the second.

I used the Poinsettia Dies to cut a couple of Whisper White berries and the Sunflowers Dies to cut some Just Jade leaves.

I set up the collage…

I adhered everything to the card front with Liquid Glue – until I got to the three left-most flowers – those I added with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a double-length bow from the Misty Moonlight/Silver baker’s twine from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere a few Flowers For Every Season Gems and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the fun vertical sentiment from Festive Corners in Misty Moonlight on a Whisper White panel.  Then I added some Just Jade hearts from the set.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and into my Just Jade card base, adhered the card front with more Liquid Glue and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got Just Jade and Misty Moonlight hearts on the front…

…and more of the Flowers For Every Season DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How fun are these Mason Jar Shaker Domes?  They PERFECTLY fit the Jar Punch opening, too!  The Jar of Flowers set – an image-only set – lets you create a variety of flower-filled jars – big jars, little jars, full jars, empty jars – all with the handy Reversible images!

And I’ve loved the Festive Corners from the git-go!  It’s just so much fun – and covers multiple holidays/occasions!

I hope you like!

Fundraiser to Help Iowa!

One of the huge weather events (in a long list of them this past few weeks) – that really did NOT get a lot of attention! – is the derecho that hit Iowa a couple of weeks ago.   If you have seen any videos of it – it truly looked like a hurricane had hit Iowa.  Uhm – because it totally had – winds in the 100+mph range (that’s Cat 2 territory, folks!)  With no warning to speak of.  To say it was devastating is a bit of an understatement! 🙁

Imagine that same wind rolling across corn and soybean fields – destroying crops and infrastructure.

Why do I care?  Well, I’ve got friends thru Stampin’ Up! that live in Iowa (fortunately safe!).  One of them, who is also my team mate – gifted me with a subscription to Our Iowa Magazine last year.  She was trying to convince me of the beauty of her “fly-over state”!  Well – I read that magazine and…was convinced!  No – STILL not going to move there, cuz…SNOW!! 😉

Why should we ALL care?  As a result of the storm, at least 43% of the corn and soybeans grown in the state were lost.  Which will be seen in the supermarkets where you and I get our food!  But beyond all that – many in that state are hurting, have lost their homes, schools and businesses and some are still without power (12+ days after the storm and with daytime temps in the 90’s ). Many farm families lost everything and are left with a huge mess to clean up prior to planting next spring.  With so much destruction, they can really use our help!

There’s an organization in Cedar Rapids, IA, called the Iowa Giving Crew, a Cedar Rapids based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that’s helping to get power restored to those still waiting, is feeding those in need, provides 3 meals a day and is helping with the cleanup.  They’ve got a Facebook page that you can see here with photos and details about the help they’re providing.

I decided to follow Amy’s lead and set a goal of donating $500 to the Iowa Giving Crew.

How can you help me help them??

    Hi Mary!
This card is beautiful!! I love the way you added extra flowers and leaves. You are the Queen of fussy cutting.
And Finn is indeed a hero dog.

    • stampsnlingers

Thank you, Gerri! I love those sunflowers! And yes – he’s a rock star! 🙂

  3. Susan K

That’s what those flowers needed! Love the depth you gave your jar of flowers! Might have to fussy cut some myself! TFS
Uncanny how Finny has that hero pose down pat! It’s a great FFF.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – when you ARE a hero, it’s easy to LOOK the part! 🙂 Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂

  4. Love, love, love this! Such a sweet shaker card with the perfect background paper. Yes, Finn does look rather Lassie-like in that photo…he should definitely be in the movies. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

Right?!? He’d be a star – probably Sandy Bullock and Reese Witherspoon would be vying to have him in THEIR movies!! 🙂

  5. Hero dog Finn! He certainly looks the part. Lovely card and great fussy cutting. I don’t have that set, may have to re-think that.

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Julie – it’s a pretty set – and fun with the shaker domes! Yes – it’s just out of frame so you can’t see his cape…. 😉
