Good morning, y’all! It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop. We’ve got a sketch challenge (my fave!) to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table. I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!
So – I think I’ve already mentioned that the Take to the Sky Suite – with the Adventurous Sky bundle – is already one of my favorite sets in the new catalog. As such – and cuz I’d spied with my little eye a DSP panel in the Take to the Sky DSP that fit today’s sketch perfectly – it’s not surprising that I reached for it for today’s card. Take a look-see:

This one is a great masculine card (and aren’t we always trying to come up with good cards for the guys in our lives?!) – and it’s quick and easy, to boot! Winner winner!
I started with a great piece of paper from the Take to the Sky DSP (available on 1 May!!) that I matted on Mossy Meadow for the card front.
The center panel started with one of the small panels in the DSP that I cut down to 3″ x 3 1/4″ – sort of centering the part of the “scene” that I liked the best.
I cut the panel down into three 1 1/4″ strips and then, keeping the design intact, adhered them to a Mossy Meadow mat with Liquid Glue.
I eyeballed the placement so that the reveal of the mat was even all the way around and between the strips.
Then I popped the panel onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I wrapped a length of 2023-2025 In Color Jute Trim– in Copper Clay – around the panel – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.
On another piece of the Take to the Sky DSP – I stamped the Adventurous Sky (this is ALSO available on 1 May – can you even WAIT that long?!?) sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink.
Then I cut it out with the banner die in the bundled die set.
I popped the sentiment over the Jute Trim – using Stampin’ Dimensionals and…wait for it…the card was done! Not even kidding – it is THAT quick and easy!
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Adventurous Sky on a Basic White cardstock panel in Mossy Meadow ink. Then I stamped one of the small biplane images in stamped-off-once Copper Clay ink.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Copper Clay card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Adventurous Sky biplane in Copper Clay on the front…
…and more of the Take to the Sky DSP on the envelope flap (I picked the design that I’d used for the front sentiment!).
Et Voila! Oh man – I love this card layout – and…I think it would be fun with other pieces of the Take to the Sky DSP as the “strip panel”, too! The color palette is…really one of my faves. And the coordinating Adventurous Sky bundle is so fun and offers lots of possibilities for cards – for guys, for women, for kids – for…anyone who’s ever even once dreamed of slipping the surlies!! 🙂
