Stampin’ Up! Trusty Tools Metal Plate Masculine Thank You Card

Good morning and Happy President’s Day!  Hope you’ll get to spend some time doing…not a heckuva-a-lot today!  Maybe eat a hot dog or watch a movie.  Don’t go to the bank.  And don’t bother checking the mailbox.  Not today!

Maybe…you’ll make a card?!  Like this one – perfect for the guys in your life (and no – I am NOT stereotyping – if you’ve got women that are tool-y – then…this card is great for them TOO!).  It features the Trusty Tools bundle – from the Jan-Apr 2024 Mini Catalog AND some FREE (with qualifying $50 purchase during Sale-A-Bration) Trusty Toolbox DSP.  And I did a little embossing with the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder, too.  Take a look-see:

And – I posted a quick video on Instagram this morning on how to make this card – check it out right here!

The layout for this one is from the current Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.

And the color palette is from the Color Throwdown Challenge.

I started by embossing a piece of Poppy Parade cardstock in the Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder and adhering it to a Crumb Cake mat for my card front.

Next, I used the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die to cut out a piece of Trusty Toolbox DSP (this is the FREE DSP!) and a Crumb Cake circle.

I used the peg-board die in the Trusty Tools die set to cut holes in the Crumb Cake circle.  Note: the circle is bigger than the peg-board die – but…that’s okay – you can’t even tell!

I used Liquid Glue – near the centers so that I could tuck my banners underneath a little later! – to adhere each of the circles to the card front.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the measuring tape and hammer from the Trusty Tools stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I colored them with Crumb Cake and Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blends and cut them out with their matching dies in the Trusty Tools die set.

I cut out a hammer-head from silver Holographic Trio Specialty Paper and adhered it to the top of the die cut hammer.

I adhered the hammer to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using a little dab of Liquid Glue, I added a simple bow tied from two lengths of Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine.

On a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, I stamped the Trusty Tools sentiment in Poppy Parade ink.  I used the large Stylish Shapes banner die to cut out the sentiment.

Using the skinny banner in the Stylish Shapes dies, I cut three Basic White banners.  I snipped them each in half – to make 6 pieces.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the banner-halves to the card front, setting the die cut sentiment into place so that I could be sure I set the banner-halves where they needed to be (making sure that the cut ends are hidden).

Using double-stacked Black Stampin’ Dimensionals, I adhered the sentiment into place – and then added the die cut measuring tape with double-stacked dimensionals and a little Liquid Glue.

I added some white Classic Matte Dots and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped the second Trusty Tools sentiment in Poppy Parade on a Basic White panel.  I added the nuts-and-bolts image twice in Crumb Cake ink.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crumb Cake mat and into my Poppy Parade card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Trusty Tools nuts-and-bolts image in Crumb Cake on the front…

…and more of the Trusty Toolbox DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This was a fun layout and the Trusty Tools bundle gave me lots of…wait for it…TOOLS to use!  The fun Metal Plate 3D Embossing Folder is sorta perfect to work alongside this suite – and I like it in Poppy Parade!  And – don’t miss getting a pack or two of the Trusty Toolbox DSP – for FREE!! – with your orders thru the rest of February.  Sale-a-Bration ENDS on 29 Feb – so…

Finn Fan Fix Our new EVERY night routine.

After we’ve both had dinner – and he’s licked my plate….

Here he comes…

Ear rubbing, nose kissing, paw petting, head hugging – we do all the things!

He’s too big to be a FULL lap-a-dog, but….being HALF-a-Lap-a-dog is almost as good!!

Such an awesome card design! Perfect way to use that paper and stamp set. Finn says that he’s still just a little puppy…he doesn’t know why he can’t be a lap dog anymore. 😉

  2. Jolanda Johnstone

Super guy card, Mary! I have those colors on my mind today, too. Thanks for joining us at HSS this round and sharing your creativity. Cheers, Jolanda – DT.

  3. Fantastic card! You nailed the sketch challenge. I especially loved the way you used the pegboard die on the circle. It’s the little details that make a great card. Thanks for joining us at HSS.

  4. Beautiful, Mary – such a fabulous use of this set! Perfect choices in the papers – this is so buttoned up! Thanks so much for playing at Hand Stamped Sentiments!

  5. Kate

    I needed this very card!!!
    Ritual is critical! 👍

  6. Patti Brunter

This card is so perfect for the handy person in your life! I love the color combo, I will have to remember it! Thanks for joining the hand stamped sentiments challenge!

  7. Broni

Neat tools! They look great with the red background and the cool patterned paper! Thanks for sharing it with us at the Color Throwdown!

  8. HMMM! What do I like about this card? Simple…everything! Colors are perfect for this card, and I love that metal plate embossing folder. Being half-a-lap dog is better than a ‘not on my lap’ dog.

Yes indeed – he’ll take as much lap as I’ll give him!! :). Thanks, Julie – glad that you liked it! 🙂
