Stampin’ Up! Large Alphabet and Thoughtful Branches!

UPDATE:  Hey y’all – I was honored to discover that this card was selected as a CYCI Top 6 Pick!  Thanks to all the ladies at Can You CASE It for liking it enough to select it – there were a lot of wonderful cards submitted!  Please take a hot second can click here to head over and check them all out! 🙂

Good Tuesday to y’all!  Can you even believe it’s almost September?  We’re deep in the back-to-school whirlwind – well, some of y’all are, my horses and kitties are taking this decade off from school! 😉

But – September means two more big things!  Yep, you got it – it’s almost time for the Holiday Catalog to go live!!  Thursday morning you’re going to be able to order all the holiday goodies you’ve been drooling over for the past couple of weeks. 🙂

A sort of bad thing is that Thoughtful Branches is going away.  Tomorrow night!  I wanted to show you one last card that I’ve made with this bundle.

You’ve seen it as a hydrangea!

Now – see it as….fruit!

Right? 🙂

I played along with two challenges today.  The first is from the folks over at Can You CASE It, who challenged us with Back to School!

CYCI #135 Sketch
And over at the Global Design Project, Challenge #051 was all about food!

GDP 051 Sketch
So, I combined them – apples for teachers!  I mean, I suppose this could be for an older kid heading back to school, but I really thought it would be just right for a teacher!

The first thing I did was make an apple.  With a bunch of flowers… I inked the flower image in Versamark ink and then in Real Red, and stamped the image on a piece of Real Red card stock.  I sprinkled it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up!  Then I cut it out with the matching die in Beautiful Branches.  Using my stylus, I rounded it from the back and when I turned it over….boom!  Apple! 🙂

I also cut a stem with one of the Beautiful Branches thinlits, in Soft Suede card stock.  The leaf image, from Thoughtful Branches, is stamped in Garden Green on Old Olive and cut with its die.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to the back of the apple.

My card front is a piece of Whisper White card stock, embossed in my Brick Wall TIEF and SNAILd to a piece of polka-dotted Garden Green paper from the Regals DSP Stack.

I pulled out my Large Letters Framelits – yeah!! – and cut a big ole “A” from some Red Glimmer Paper.  It’s adhered directly to the card front with Liquid Glue.  The rest of my sentiment is put together with the Labeler Alphabet, some Real Red ink and a little bit of Whisper White card stock.  I snipped each letter individually, and adhered them to the panel.  Then I added the die-cut apple with some little pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional.

To finish off the card front, I tied a bow with a length of each of the Baker’s Twine colors in the Candy Cane Lane Baker’s Twine pack from the upcoming Holiday Catalog, and adhered it to the apple.  And I stamped the little apple image from Thoughtful Branches in Real Red a few times around the card.

On the inside, I SNAILd another piece of Whisper White to a Garden Green Regals DSP mat.  Then I made a fun little sentiment by stamping various words from Thoughtful Banners (this is a very thoughtful card, wouldn’t you say?!) in Garden Green and Real Red.  And added one more Real Red apple…

Large Number Thoughtful Branches 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd the panel into my Daffodil Delight card base and SNAILd the card front on as well.  And that was it for the card!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a few Thoughtful Branches apples in Real Red on the front…

…and an envelope flap covered with Garden Green Regals DSP.  And – even though you can’t see it – there’s one last little apple lurking under the flap, just waiting to be found by the recipient!  Yes, it’s true – if one apple is good for your favorite teacher….9 (count ’em!) is even better!

Large Number Thoughtful Branches 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  Hydrangea. Tree.  Apple.  I’ve even seen this die cut dressed up as a lamb!  Get this set and let your imagination run wild!!  Hope you like.
