Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Branches Autumn Leaves!

UPDATE:  Hey y’all – I was honored to discover that this card had been selected as a CTS Favorite!  Thanks to all the good folk at CAS(E) This Sketch for liking it enough to select it from among all the wonderful projects submitted!  Please take a second to click here and go check out all the winners and great cards! 🙂

It’s the Fiiinaaal Countdown….do you hear the music?  Song from the 80’s….kind of about nuclear war, so…okay.  Not all that cheery – but it’s got a great beat and tune!

Our final countdown is to an event seriously not as bad as nuclear war (doesn’t really narrow it down that much, does it??), but it’s definitely kind of awful!  I’m speaking, of course, of the imminent end of availability of Thoughtful Branches and the Beautiful Branches Thinlits.  If everything goes as originally stated – and I’ve seen nothing to the contrary – then come Wednesday night, you’ll no longer be able to order this wonderful and versatile set.  So…if you don’t have it yet…well.  Gotta do it! 😉

I used this set again today for my card.  This time I used the leaves – the stamp image and the matching die – with the Baby Wipe technique – and one of the several excellent sentiments.  Look what I got when I added some Copper and the Woodlands TIEF.  Take a look-see:

My layout is from the CAS(E) This Sketch challenge #187:

CTS #187 Sketch
Now, besides the Baby Wipe Technique, I tried something I saw over on the Stampin’ Up! Party Planning FB page, from Julie DeGuia.  This is the card she showed that inspired me to try this.

The idea here is to ink up the inside of an Embossing Folder with Versamark Ink, run your card stock thru to emboss it, and then sprinkle the panel with your Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat it up!

Julie used the Petal Burst TIEF and Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I wanted to try it with the Woodland TIEF.  So I did.  I tapped my Veramark Pad all over the embossing side of the TIEF and carefully laid my Very Vanilla panel in position.  Once I ran it thru the Big Shot inside the folder,  I removed the panel and sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Now – I apparently didn’t do such a great job of inking up my folder, cuz the powder didn’t stick all over.  Which turned out to be okay.  I decided to leave it in the nooks and crannies of the trees, and brushed off the excess between the trees.  Then I heated it up, and….you can see the result.  And I deemed it good and went on with it! 🙂

I SNAILd the panel to a Copper Foil mat.  Then I wrapped a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Over that I wrapped Linen Thread and Copper Metallic Thread about 3 times.  That set me up for the bows I used as embellishment on the rest of the card.

I used the Baby Wipe Method, dropping Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Old Olive drops of Ink Refill randomly about on the baby wipe.  Then I used that as my “ink pad” and stamped 6 of the Thoughtful Branches leaves on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  I cut each one out with the matching die in Beautiful Branches.

Okay – the only persnickety piece of this card is all the little bows I tied.  If you’re an awesome bow-tie-er (Mom!), then this won’t make you even blink twice!  Each little bow is a length of Linen Thread and length of Copper Metallic Thread.  Once I had them all tied, I used little dabs of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to each of the leaves.

My sentiment – also from Thoughtful Branches – is heat embossed in Copper on a piece of Very Vanilla.  I snipped a banner end on one side.  The other I left long enough to give me room to adhere one of my leaves to it.  Then I popped it over the ribbon embellishment with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

All that remained was to adhere each leaf onto the card front with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I added a couple more autumnal Thoughtful Branches leaves to a Very Vanilla panel and SNAILd it to its Copper Foil mat.

Falling Thoughtful Branches Autumn Leaves 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd the inner liner into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I repeated the Thoughtful Branches leaves on the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope…

…and added a few to the back flap as well.

Et Voila! One more example showcasing the beauty of this wonderful stamp and thinlits bundle!  Hope you like! 🙂

On my window sill is a leaf just like those…always find at least one in August to herald the soon-to-change golden aspen. They make a beautiful card. No. You made a beautiful card. 😃
