Happy Weekend, y’all – I hope you’ve got something fun planned! Or at least something useful…
As I sit here on Friday afternoon, I’m watching the Ellen Degeneres Show. Her guest – this is a repeat from earlier this year – is Chris Hemsworth. Thor himself.
With a beard. And in full Australian accent mode.
Oh.
My.
Goodness.
Mmmm Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Let me ask – for the ladies who live Down Under and for whom that accent isn’t an accent at all….do you guys think it’s as sexy as we Up Aboves do? Or – do you think American accents are the sexy ones? I mean – do guys Down Under do an American accent to try to impress the ladies?
Cuz…Chris Hemsworth…Australian accent…. yup. 😉
Okay – now that I’ve given you a lovely little mind picture to jumpstart your weekend, let’s talk Thoughtful Branches, shall we? This little beauty (I’m sure it would have an Aussie accent if it could talk – it’s that pretty!) is only around for a few more days. I used it today to make a Thinking of You kind of card for a friend of mine who just lost his brother. This one is easy peasy and the Thoughtful Branches bundle is all you need! Take a look-see:

My quiet color scheme is from the Pals Paper Arts challenge #315:

I started with a panel of Dapper Denim for my card front. From another piece, I cut out two of the tree die cuts from the Beautiful Branches Thinlits set. Then I laid them on the card front and let them overlap in the middle. I turned them over – keeping them together like I had them on the card front – and traced where they overlapped with a pencil. Then I snipped out that little portion of the tree, so they’d fit together flush on the card front. I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them in place.

Then I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat. The ribbon is a piece of Dapper Denim 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon, wrapped around and secured in the back with scotch tape.
For my Thoughtful Branches sentiment, I stamped it in Old Olive ink on a piece of So Saffron card stock, and cut it with a Square Layering Framelit die. I made a double, scalloped-edge mat – the first is Dapper Denim and the second is Old Olive. I SNAILd them all together and then popped the square on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I finished it off with a couple of Dapper Denim Enamel Shapes and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the second sentiment from Thoughtful Branches in Old Olive on a Whisper White panel. I added a couple of bare-tree images in So Saffron and SNAILd the panel to a Dapper Denim mat and wrapped another piece of the Dapper Denim 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon around it. After that, I matted it a second time on an Old Olive panel.

I added one Dapper Denim Enamel heart, then SNAILd it into my So Saffron card base. Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple more Thoughtful Branches bare-tree images in So Saffron and a Dapper Denim Enamel heart on the front…

…and then I added the tree image again on the back.

Et Voila! I kind of love this tone on tone die cut technique – looks like an embossing folder did it, doesn’t it? Hope you like. I love this set – and I hope you’ve all got it by now. 🙂 If you don’t – you know what to do!
