Happy HAWWMP day, y’all!
I don’t know about y’all, but it’s so ridiculously hot and humid here….I think I’ve been sweating glowing-like-a-nuclear-reactor all day.
The vet called early this morning (Tuesday) asking if he could come early. Of course, I said yes, right? I mean…I’m gonna say no?? 😉
So, at 1030, I went and opened the gate and then moved some vehicles around at the barn so he could back in. Then I got a soda and sat on the porch waiting for him. 11 – 12 he’d said.
In case you’re not aware, the individual voted most-likely-to-never-show-up-on-time is really not the cable guy. It’s the horse vet.
Usually not his fault – calls take more time than he thought (us horse owners like to yak at the vet when we finally get him cornered – asking all those little questions that have been swirling in our heads), emergencies crop up. We get it. Us horse owners, that is. We know that waiting is just part of it. We even have an acronym. WOV. Waiting On Vet.
Not really – I just made that up. But we should have an acronym for it!
He finally pulled in at 1pm. And then it all went very well from there. As predicted – the promise of peppermints brought everyone to the barn.
But OH. MY. GOODNESS. It was so hot – even with all the stall fans and the big aisle fan on. I was dripping “glow” all over! Yuk.
In between all that, I was on a long telecom for work – one of those meetings where they think you can hear anything they’re saying. But you really really can’t.
What I’m trying to say is – I’ve been a little distracted today, and that really crimped my creative juices. Or it was the heat and the glowing. IDK.
But when I finally got it going, I ended up combining a few stamp sets – Thoughtful Branches and Birthday Blossoms – with a few Thinlit sets – Beautiful Branches and Hearth & Home – and a couple of embossing folders – Petal Burst and Woodland. See whatcha think – take a look-see:
My layout was loosely based on the sketch challenge from RetroSketches – Challenge #227:
I started by embossing a Very Vanilla panel in the Petal Burst TIEF. Then I stamped the ground image from Thoughtful Branches a few times across the middle in Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze and SNAILd the panel to a Rich Razzleberry mat.
I wrapped some Linen Thread 4 or 5 times around the panel and then topped it with 4 or 5 wraps of new Copper Metallic Thread.
For the central art, I embossed a small piece of Very Vanilla in the Woodland TIEF. The window, cut with the Hearth & Home Thinlits, is made from a piece of the Copper Foil design paper in Petals & Paisley Specialty DSP. I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the embossed panel behind the window, then I popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I went back to the Diaper Wipe inking technique to make the Thoughtful Branches flowers and leaves. In case you missed how to do that, check out the first card I used it on right here. I used Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie refills. I stamped the flowers and leaves on Very Vanilla and cut them with the matching dies in Beautiful Branches. While I had the dies out, I also cut a few leaves from Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper (coming soon!).
I cut a few pieces of the flower – to make smaller flowers! – and rolled them from the back with my stylus. Then I used Liquid Glue to add the leaves to the window, and popped my little flowers over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The leaves are stamped in Always Artichoke, cut out with the Beautiful Branches dies, and stuck into the flowers with Liquid Glue.
I made a bow from two strands of Linen Thread and two from Copper Metallic Thread and adhered it with a dab of the Liquid Glue.
The sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms, stamped on Very Vanilla in Cajun Craze ink, and cut with the window box (fireplace mantle) die in Home & Hearth. I edged it with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker and then used Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere it. I added a last Baby Wipe inked leaf and a couple of Always Artichoke leaves and popped a Pumpkin Pie dot (from the Halloween Night Enamel Dots pack) over the top.
On the inside, I added two more Always Artichoke leaves to a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.
I SNAILd the panel to a Rich Razzleberry mat and then into my Pumpkin Pie card base. I also SNAILd the card front on – the decorations are already plenty thick!
For my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I added one last Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper leaf – cut with the Beautiful Branches thinlits – to the front…
…and ran the envelope flap thru the Big Shot in the Woodland TIEF – hard to see, sorry!
Et Voila! This card turned out better than I expected when I started – hope you like! I think it’s another pretty example of what you can do with the Thoughtful Branches bundle – showcasing its versatility once again!

Beautiful card! Love the little spray of flowers and the window scene with the trees outside is perfect. Bummer on “glowing” all day yesterday…I do look forward to the sweaters and jeans time of year myself!
Thanks, Amy – I am definitely ready to put the “glow” away for a few months! 🙂
Oh…very pretty. Anticipating the leaf changes soon. Hate to be smug, but that glowing stuff just doesn’t happen out here to my mountains! PTL! Don’t guess the WOV would be any better…😕
No, WOV is WOV no matter where you are! Thanks, Mom! 🙂
Really pretty Mary! Love the leaves!
Thanks, Jari! 🙂
