Well, I didn’t go see any movies on Saturday. 🙁 It occured to me – finally! – that I’ll be needing to pack all my stuff up at the end of this week! Yikes! Feels like I just unpacked it. Probably cuz I did – three weeks is that a-little-too-long-to-not-bring-the-stuff-a-little-too-short-to-get-completely-settled amount of time to be on a trip. But I suppose whether it’s 3 weeks or 7 weeks, I’ll always find myself at the weekend before I need to pack everything up, huh? 😉
So…that means that I need to be getting a little ahead on cards for next weekend, or risk not having a card to share! Which means this weekend is the right time to be doing that.
Now – if you were me, and you needed to build a few cards ahead, would you:
- Make several quick and easy cards, or
- Make 3 cards with lots of fussy cutting
Hmmm? No – don’t tell me your answer – I know you smart folks would opt for #1.
I, on the other hand, did #2.
As a result, I spent almost all of Saturday making cards.
Three cards.
Maybe today I’ll do things just a little bit smarter! And maybe decide to take a minute and go see that movie…
Let me ask – are you guys getting excited for the Thoughtful Branches Bundle to be available? I sure hope so – cuz I know it’s a good one. My card today is another example of what you can do with this great bundle. Take a look-see:
I played with a few challenges on this one – the first, Sugar Pea Designs #6, gave me my layout.
The color scheme is a result of the color challenge over at Fab Friday #92:
And I also submitted this one to the TGIF cutting challenge #65.
Now – with that color palette, Christmas might seem to be the obvious choice, huh? But I decided that those colors could also look like summer trees. So that was the way I went.
I started out by embossing a Very Vanilla panel in the Woodland TIEF (I am so glad that SU! brought this beauty back!) and SNAILing it to a Cherry Cobbler mat.
The next layer is more Very Vanilla, and I stamped the multiple-tree image from Thoughtful Branches in Garden Green – stamping it a second time without re-inking. I covered the panel with the trees and then used the small image to add leaves in Garden Green. Then I SNAILd it to a Cherry Cobbler card stock mat and adhered it to the card front.
The central art piece started with another panel of Very Vanilla. I added the grasses image from Thoughtful Branches in Garden Green several times across the bottom, SNAILd it to a Cherry Cobbler mat and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
The Thoughtful Branches tree is stamped in Garden Green on Very Vanilla and then cut with the matching die in Thankful Branches. And here comes the fussy cutting! 🙂
I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and adhered the cut out tree to a piece of Garden Green card stock. Then I fussy cut the edge.
The trunk of the tree is also an image in Thoughtful Banners – I used Garden Green and stamped it off once before stamping it on a piece of scrap Very Vanilla. I cut it with the die in Beautiful Branches and used a little Liquid Glue to adhere it to the art panel. Over the top, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop the die cut leaves.
I stamped the sentiment from Thoughtful Banners in Garden Green on Very Vanilla and used a small die from the Circles Layering Framelits to cut it out. Using a slightly larger, scallop-edged die in the Circles Framelits, I cut a Cherry Cobbler mat for the sentiment and SNAILd the two pieces together. I cut a couple of lengths of Very Vanilla 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon and snipped banner ends in each one. Then I used some Liquid Glue under the left ends to adhere them to the card front. I popped the sentiment circle over the whole thing – with some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the left side, and Liquid Glue on the right.
The final piece was to decorate the tree! I used my Hearts Confetti Border Punch to cut a mess of little hearts in Cherry Cobbler, then adhered some of them to the tree – and under the tree on the “ground”! – with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. I added one little teeny tiny heart to the sentiment circle while I was at it – and the card front was done.
On the inside, I repeated the Thoughtful Branches grass in Garden Green across the bottom of a Very Vanilla panel. I added a couple more of the Cherry Cobbler hearts and stamped a second sentiment in Cherry Cobbler.
I SNAILd it to a Cherry Cobbler mat and then into my Garden Green card base. I finished the card by popping the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals!
For my Medium Very Vanilla Envelope, I scattered Garden Green Thoughtful Branches grass and trees across the bottom and added a couple of punched hearts…
…and on the back, I added a whole forest. Apparently, I really love this tree image and that grass! 🙂
Et Voila! Thoughtful Branches and its matching Beautiful Branches Framelits delivers again! This is such an awesome set, y’all – I can’t wait for you to be able to get it for yourself!
