Stampin’ Up! Painted & Perennial Simply Said Sneak Peek Birthday Card

Good morning and Happy “Total Eclipse of the Sun” Day”!  Admit it – you sang that phrase like Bonnie Tyler, didn’t you?!  😂  Are you doing anything special?  My friend is having a big party – they live in Ohio and are right under the path – with Moon Pies, Sun Chips and Blue Moon beer.  If I lived closer – I’d totally crash that cuz it sounds like a great time!!  As it is – we’ll go outside and watch cuz…you know – ECLIPSE!  But – I DID see that in 2078 the path of THAT total eclipse will go right over Atlanta, so…you can bet we’ll go all-out for THAT one, for sure! 😉😉

I guess I should have made an eclipse card for today but…I didn’t! Instead – I made a Birthday card using some pretty things that are carrying over into the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog – the Perennial Lavender DSP, Painted Lavender stamp set and dies and (my fave!) the Perennial Postage dies.  AND – I pulled out the brand new sentiment-only set called Simply Said!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

I made a quick video on how to make this one – and posted it on Instagram this morning.  You can see it on YouTube right here!

I started by adhering a piece of Perennial Lavender DSP to the front of a Crumb Cake card base.  Aren’t you so glad that this paper is going to be in the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalog?!  I know I am!! 🙂

I used two of the smaller dies in the Perennial Postage set to cut out three pieces of the Perennial Lavender DSP.

I adhered the smallest to the card front – near the top – with Liquid Glue.  And then I adhered one of the larger die cuts near the bottom – also with Liquid Glue.

On the second larger die cut – I stamped the sentiment from the new, sentiment-only,  Simply Said set (get this one on 1 May in the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalog)…

…in Pretty Peacock ink.  Then I popped that onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used the Painted Lavender set to cut out a large Pretty Peacock stem and two small Crumb Cake stems.  These I adhered to the side of the sentiment die cut with Liquid Glue.

I tied a simple bow with two lengths of Very Vanilla baker’s twine and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.

Then I added some of the amazing Adhesive-backed Cork Rounds (these are retiring soon so…time to STOCK UP!!) and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Simply Said in Pretty Peacock ink on a Basic White panel. Over the top, I stamped the Painted Lavender sprig in stamped-off-once Pretty Peacock.  Then I added another of the Adhesive-backed Cork Rounds.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into the Crumb Cake card base and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the stamped-off-once Pretty Peacock Painted Lavender sprig on the front…

…and more Perennial Lavender DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I am so SO happy that most everything I used on this card WILL be available come 1 May!  Brand new to us (can’t even get it until 1 May!) will be the very handy Simply Said stamp set – it’s got a bunch of great sentiments for you!  The wonderful Painted Lavender stamp set and dies – are just so darned pretty!  Note – the “bundle” – with the 10% savings, will NOT be available in the new catalog – so…you’ll have to buy them separately.  Which means – if you don’t have it yet – grab the bundle right now and SAVE that 10%!!  The Perennial Postage dies are also going to be in the new catalog – it’s coordinating stamp set will NOT be!  And – WHEW! – this wunnermus Perennial Lavender DSP is going to be around for another year.  Whoo-hoo!!  What WON’T be around?  Those amazingly wonderful Adhesive-backed Cork Rounds so…grab a few packs while you still can!

Finn Fan Fix

We occasionally will buy a filet roast at Costco – which we cut into steaks (the petite kind so it goes further!!) and we freeze them for later.

USUALLY we get a “regular” one – which has to be trimmed of fat and such before it’s cut up and frozen.  Which makes for tasty little morsels for the man – who is only too happy to “help” us dispose of them.

Last week – we went cray cray and got an “ultra peeled” roast.  Which makes Wayne VERY happy.  I like a little bit of fat but…he…does NOT!

Finn was…NOT a fan. 🙁

Not even a dimensional cover could soften the crushing disappointment!
