Stampin’ Up! Tropical Leaf Flowers & More Explosion Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Good morning on half-way-thru-the-weekend Day!  AKA – Sunday!  Hope your weekend is going well – and that you haven’t been plagued with bad weather.  I think this is our day for the storms – but..hoping they’re not too rough!

My card today is the OPPOSITE of a stormy Southern day – it’s all about the tropics (I say Maui – you can make it be wherever YOU want to be!) with the pretty Tropical Leaf bundle – which is one of our cool new Online Exclusive products!  Add some Flowers & More DSP – a host-exclusive goodie! – AND the fact that it’s a quick and easy fun fold and you’ve got a winner!  Take a look-see:

The front of this fold looks pretty “normal” and its layout was inspired by the sketch at the Global Design Project challenge this week.

I started by adhering a piece of leaf-strewn paper from the Flowers & More DSP (get this FREE with an individual order over $180 or a workshop total of the same!) to the bottom of a Tahitian Tide mat using Liquid Glue.

I stamped the stems from Tropical Leaf in Shaded Spruce on a panel of Basic White cardstock.  Then I added two of the small leaf image from the set in Parakeet Party.  They both got Tahitian Tide “veins”.

I adhered the Basic White panel to the top of the Tahitian Tide mat.

Next, I adhered a narrow strip of another design from the Flowers & More DSP on Tahitian Tide and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue – covering the “seam” as I did it.

I wrapped a length of Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon around the panel – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the large leaf from Tropical Leaf three times in Parakeet Party ink – adding the vein image in Shaded Spruce.  Then I cut them all out with the bundled Tropical Leaf punch.

I adhered the two side leaves with Liquid Glue, and the middle leaf with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Tropical Leaf sentiment (don’t you LOVE the fonts in this set?!?) in Shaded Spruce ink.  I cut it out with the next-to-smallest wider Stitched Rectangles Die and adhered it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a small bow from the Whisper White 1/4″ Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I added some Tahitian Tide 2022-2024 In Color Matte Dots and the card front was done.

On the inside, I first matted a piece of Basic White on Tahitian Tide and adhered it to the inside of the Shaded Spruce card base.

For the explosion element, I used a 6″ x 6″ piece of the Flowers & More DSP and with my Paper Trimmer, scored at 3″ on both sides and then across one diagonal.

I folded the 3″ score lines as valleys – so…in towards the side that I wanted to show in the card – and the diagonal as a “mountain” fold.  Then I folded it all up together to make a square.

Using Liquid Glue on the bottom of the square –  I adhered it to the inner liner.

Then, I put Liquid Glue on the top of the square and closed the card base to adhere it all into the card base.

I stamped a second sentiment from Tropical Leaf in Shaded Spruce on a Basic White cardstock square – or diamond! – adhered it to a Tahitian Tide mat and then into the top portion of the explosion element.

Tropical Leaf Flowers & More Explosion Fun Fold with Video TutorialThen I stamped the large leaf in Parakeet Party on a second piece of Basic White cardstock.  Stamping the large leaf first ensures that the images are correctly in frame!  Then I stamped the stems in Shaded Spruce, added the two small leaves in Parakeet Party, then stamped the veins in Shaded Spruce and Tahitian Tide.

I adhered the panel to a Tahitian Tide mat and onto the bottom panel of the explosion element.

I adhered the card front with Liquid Glue – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Tropical Leaf images on the front…

…and more of the Flowers & More DSP on the envelope flap.

Finn Fan Fix

Noses are pretty handy to have.

They let you suss out interlopers on the trail.

They let you find little tidbits and kernels of yummy that your mom drops on the floor.

Handy.

But.

They can ALSO get in the way!!

Gotta bend that nose up a little…more… to get… ALL the way down in the bowl!
