Stampin’ Up! An Artfully Composed Ladybug for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a color challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

I saw the colors and knew right away that I’d be pulling out the gorgeous Artfully Composed DSP.  And – the Hello Ladybug bundle.  No – they’re not related.  But…I like how they worked together for this card.  And…I used a couple of fun sneak-peek goodies, too!  Take a look-see:

And – here’s the color palette we used!

I borrowed some inspiration from the Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.

I started with a foliage-strewn piece of the Artfully Composed DSP that I matted on Just Jade (retiring SOON!) for the card front.  I adhered a narrow strip of Pale Papaya paper from the DSP pack with Liquid Glue.

Using the dies in the Tropical Layers dies, I cut a palm frond from Just Jade cardstock and a leaf from Evening Evergreen.  I adhered the palm frond to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I used two sentiments in the Hello Ladybug stamp set – the first, I stamped in Just Jade ink in the corner of a Basic White square that I’d cut with a square die from the new Stylish Shapes dies (you’ll be able to get this on 3 May in the new 2022-2023 Annual Catalog) – this one is 1 7/8″ square.

I embossed the little square in the new Fern 3D Embossing Folder (another new and wunnermus goody from the new catalog!) and then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped a second Hello Ladybug sentiment in Calypso Coral on a piece of Basic White, cut it with the smallest banner die in the Stylish Shapes dies and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I adhered the Evening Evergreen leaf with Liquid Glue.

To make the ladybug, I used the bundled Ladybug Builder Punch to cut a Basic Black body.  Then I cut two sets of wings – one from Calypso Coral paper in the Artfully Composed DSP and the second from some white-embossed Vellum Layering Designs paper.

Using the stamp image in the Hello Ladybug set, I added “spots” to the Calypso Coral wings in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

I lightly curled both sets of wings with a Bone Folder – than adhered the vellum wings to the body with a Glue Dot.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the Calypso Coral wings – slightly above the vellum wings.

Then I popped the ladybug onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I colored a few Polished Dots with my Dark Mint Macaron Stampin’ Blend and added them to the card front.  And…that was it!

On the inside, I stamped a second Hello Ladybug sentiment in Just Jade on a Basic White panel.  Over the top, I stamped the adorable ladybug in Tuxedo Black – then added the second “fill” image in Calypso Coral.  Using a Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker, I added a little “ground” under all….SIX!…of her little bug feet!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Just Jade mat and into my Calypso Coral card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the sweet Ladybug on the front…

…and more of the Artfully Composed DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – what do you love more?  The wunnermus tropical-themed Artfully Composed DSP?  The adorable Hello Ladybug…ladybug?!?  (just a note: the Hello Ladybug and Ladybug Builder Punch ARE carrying over to the new catalog – but the bundle pricing is NOT!  So…snag it now and save some $$!)  Or…are you swooning over the new Fern 3D Embossing Folder and Stylish Shapes Dies (BOTH available on 3 May!)?  It’s okay to be loving ALL of it – I know I do, for sure!

I hope you like!
