Stampin’ Up! Zany Zebras Harvest Hellos with Video Tutorial for the Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – Claire’s got us going back to school this week!  🙂  I know it’ll give your creative mojo a bump, so I hope you’ll come and play along with us!  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

When I saw the challenge – my brain sorta went right to A-B-C, 1-2-3….so I figured I could use the Playful Alphabet Die set to make that happen.  Then I remembered the apple in Harvest Hellos and the fun Zany Zebras stamp sets – and wanted to play with those.  So I pivoted and…take a look-see:

And here’s our Paper Players Clean-and-Simple theme challenge badge!  Come play!

I also borrowed a layout from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

…and my color palette is courtesy of the Global Design Project challenge.

I started with some Artistry Blooms DSP that I matted on Bumble Bee for the card front.

Next, I cut two large Whisper White right triangles using the dies in the Stitched Triangle Dies set.

On what would be the bottom triangle – I stamped the Zany Zebra in Calypso Coral.  I added some Bumble Bee into his mane with my Stampin’ Write Marker.  Under his hooves, I stamped some grass in Granny Apple Green.

I embossed both triangles in the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and adhered both of them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the zebra again in Calypso Coral on a small piece of Whisper White and fussy cut him (without the mane and tail).  Then I popped him over the stamped zebra with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used some Stampin’ Seal+ on the front and Glue Dots on the back to adhere a piece of Bumble Bee 2020-2022 In Color Ribbon to the card front.

For the apple, I stamped the Harvest Hellos apple in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a piece of Artistry Blooms DSP and punched it with the Apple Builder Punch.  I also stamped a leaf on Granny Apple Green card stock, which I punched with the Apple Builder.  Finally – I punched a little Early Espresso stem.

I adhered the leaf and stem to the apple and popped it onto the card front with Dimensionals.

I used Foam Adhesive Sheets and some Bumble Bee and Granny Apple Green card stock to cut the Playful Alphabet letters – and added them to the card front.

My sentiment, from Harvest Hellos, is stamped in Calypso Coral on Whisper White and cut with a narrow Stitched Rectangle Die.  Then I popped it over the ribbon with Dimensionals, added a bow with a Glue Dot and a Bumble Bee 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dot – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the Harvest Hellos apple and leaf in Granny Apple Green, added an Early Espresso stem and a Calypso Coral sentiment on a Whsiper White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Bumble Bee mat and into my Granny Apple Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another apple and…a Zany Zebras sentiment in Calypso Coral on the front…

…and some more Artistry Blooms DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I’m glad I remembered that the Harvest Hellos set had apples in addition to pumpkins – and sentiments for teachers!!

The Zany Zebras set is more aimed at birthdays, but…that little zebra is just too cute, don’t you think??

And – the Zany Zebras has a fun collection and easy-to-create samples in the 2020 Beginner Brochure, too!  Check out page 8 – 9!

I hope you like – and will think about adding these to your stash – if you haven’t already!

Not so many years ago, Finn fit on the ottoman.

With room to spare.

Adorable! I love the yellow bow!

  2. Such a cute card! Love the zebra and the “Granny Smith” apple. Perfect sentiment too! 🙂 Poor Finn, he’s trying to make himself fit…that darn ottoman is shrinking! 😉

    • stampsnlingers

I should quit drying it in the dryer! 😉 Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  3. Sorry I had to leave the making of your cute-as-can-be card. Finn sure has his pose face down pat…and the positioning of his hands too! Have a great day.

    • stampsnlingers

The hand crossing just kills me every time!! Thanks very much, Karen! 🙂

  4. Susan K

Very creative card! I’m impressed with your combination of all the challenges into one delightful card. I have many teacher friends going back to school to uncertain circumstances and this would bring smiles to their faces! Finn would make them smile too, with those little (or not so little!) paws crossed, sitting on his throne. TFS.

Thank you so much, Karen – I hope your friends stay safe! And…keep your eye on your mailbox this week! 😉

  5. Very cute way to use both of these set! Love that sentiment too, perfect for a back to school card!
