Stampin’ Up! Good Morning Magnolia Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Happy Friday!!  Hope it’s been a good week for you. We’re just doing the self-isolation/quarantine thing…how about you?  Besides card making – what fun things are you doing to keep yourself busy (and sane!) as we head into the 765th weekend of The COVID-19 Crisis??

If you were able to join me for my YouTube video – I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay…here ’tis!

As you can see from the photo above – this card is based on the wonderful Magnolia Lane Suite – the Good Morning Magnolia bundle (with the Magnolia Memories Die set) and gorgeous Magnolia Lane DSP!  I created a fun-fold that looks a lot like an envelope so…that’s what I’m calling it!  Take a look-see:

The layout – that I turned into a fun-fold! – was inspired by this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock that I scored and folded at 2 5/8″ and again at 6 7/8″ for the card base.

On the smaller panel, I measured and marked the half-way point (2 3/4″) and used my Paper Trimmer to cut the point.

.

I used the same technique (measure half-way down the long side and cut to the point) to create the Petal Pink mat (2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″) and the Magnolia Lane DSP (2 3/8″ x 4 7/8″) panel.  Note – this part of the card is at about the 7:35 mark in the video! 🙂

Then I adhered the pieces together and to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I adhered a different design of the DSP to a larger Petal Pink mat and then to the larger panel on the front.

For the sentiment, I inked the Good Morning Magnolia sentiment in Versamark Ink and stamped it on a piece of Basic Black card stock. I sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  When it was cool, I cut it out with a Stitched So Sweetly label die.

Using the small flower die in the Magnolia Memories Die set – I cut a magnolia blossom from one of the designs in the Magnolia Lane DSP.  I used the leaves dies to cut three Mossy Meadow leaves.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the flower to the sentiment label and the leaves to the underside of the label.

I used Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the point of the envelope fold – being sure to leave room for my ribbon to slide through to create my closure.

I added some Pearl Basic Jewels to the label – and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped the small flower from Good Morning Magnolia in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Whisper White panel.  I colored the bloom with my Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends Combo.  Then I added a sentiment in Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into my card base – and the card was done!

I slid a length of ribbon (either Petal Pink 5/16″ Organdy Striped Ribbon or the linen ribbon from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack – which is retiring and on sale!!) under the label and tied a bow to create the closure for the card.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Good Morning Magnolia blossom on the front…

…and some more Magnolia Lane DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is a super easy fold – once you know the dimensions for the pointy flap, right?  I love how it lets you showcase some gorgeous DSP like the Retiring-soon Magnolia Lane paper (and – it’s got a GREAT price right now)!  I hope you like!

And I’m SO happy that the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and coordinating Magnolia Memories Dies are carrying over!

Do remember, though – that the BUNDLE pricing (with its 10% Savings) WILL go away when this catalog ends.  You’ll have to purchase the stamp set and dies separately in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!

Just sayin’….

Finn Fan Fix

Some days?  The quarantining is just…too much for a guy.  The humans need too much attention.  Too much love.  Too much…everything.

And you have to go sit out in a clearing by yourself and watch the birds and bugs.  And maybe a deer.  A little Me time.

Just for a bit.

  1. Such pretty cards! Love the mix of designer papers and the design is perfect. 🙂 Yep…I completely understand Finn’s need to sit by himself for awhile. One can only take so much togetherness. 😉

Hi Mary, that is really a beautiful card. I did watch the ‘live’ YouTube version, but I didn’t sign in because of my YouTube screen name….too confusing……Your beautiful card makes me wonder again, why StampinUp keeps the stamps and dies but not the gorgeous DSP………I mean, we NEED that paper EVERY TIME we use the stamps!! Same with Timeless Tropical. Isn’t it in the new catalog too??…..but not that gorgeous paper. Ah well…..StampinUp doesn’t ask me before they decide things.
Nice that Finn can catch a break…..he has a lot of duties for one dog. (smile).
Actually, I don’t mind staying home where my craft room is…..and books…..and plants……and music…..and doggie…….but thank goodness for phone calls, and texting, and computer, Zoom etc……

    • stampsnlingers

I know – I am always sorry to see some of the DSP leave. But then the NEW batch arrives and…I’m smitten all over! But yea – I’ll miss this one and Timeless Tropical for sure! Thanks so much, Faith! 🙂

  4. This is so beautiful, Mary. I’m sorry I missed you yesterday but we’re getting stuff ready to transport to Murphy. I’ll watch on Sunday probably when I’m enjoying my cuppa on the back porch looking at the river and budding trees.
