Stampin’ Up! Southern Serenade Sneak Peek Thank You card

Happy Christmas Eve, y’all!

I suppose, by rights, I should have brought you a Christmas card today.

But I didn’t!  Sorry!

And this isn’t a video Sneak Peek – I’m taking tonight off – and so should you! 🙂

Instead – I have a sneak peek of another new stamp set coming soon to a 2018 Occasions Catalog near you!  It’s called Southern Serenade and it’s lovely!  I used it this time with some paper from the True Gentleman DSP to make a thank you card.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is courtesy of this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

I started with yet another gorgeous paper from the True Gentleman DSP (which you can get on 3 Jan – or get a taste of this and all the papers with a Catalog Share).  I matted it on Crushed Curry with Fast Fuse to make the card front.  Then I ran another strip of Crushed Curry down the card front.  Over that I layered a length of Night of Navy 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My art piece, from the new Southern Serenade stamp set (available 3 Jan), is stamped in Crumb Cake on a piece of Shimmery White card stock and colored with Light and Dark Stampin’ Blends in Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Old Olive.  Then I matted it on Crushed Curry and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My sentiment, which is also from Southern Serenade, is stamped in Night of Navy on Shimmery White and cut out with the new 1 3/8″ Scallop Circle Punch (avail 3 Jan).  I edged it with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker and then added some Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back.  I used the Dimensionals to wind some loops of Gold Metallic Thread to the back of the sentiment, then I popped it onto the card front.  A few Rhinestone Basic Jewels completed the front of the card!

On the inside, I stamped some of the small flowers from Southern Serenade in Crumb Cake up the side of a Shimmery White panel and colored them with the Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some more of the Southern Serenade flowers up the side…

…and a little more True Gentleman DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love this True Gentleman DSP – so versatile and gorgeous in Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide and Crumb Cake as the primary colors.  And Southern Serenade is beautiful – the flowers, a wonderful lace image and lovely fonts.  Hope you like and are adding these to your lists!

Finn Fan Fix

The only part of Miss Sonya’s weekly visit that the Man doesn’t care for is…the vacuum.

He attempts to avoid it if possible – retreating to the bedroom as she works her way forward in the house.

And he keeps an eagle eye – stationing himself at the door to the bedroom so he can watch the hallway just in case any rogue vacuum approaches.

And he doesn’t know why – WHY, MOM, WHY?!?! – I keep taking his picture!  I think he’s starting to get a complex!

I can’t help it very much – he’s too danged cute to not capture on “film”!

  1. Lovely card! You perfectly paired the True Gentleman DSP and the Southern Serernade. Oh, I get it! A Southern Gentleman. 🙂
Kids coming later today. It is SNOWING!! So we will have a white Christmas. Merry Christmas Eve to you all.

    • Indeed – Southern Gentleman! Good one, Julie! Sounds like you’ve got a wonderful day ahead of you! Enjoy it – and your White Christmas. We’re having of a muddddyyy Christmas!! Thanks much, Julie! 🙂

  2. Finn, scared of the vacuum…tell him to put his big boy pantaloons on and suck it up 🙂 I KNOW you saw what I did there. AND I also saw what you did with that wonderous DSP. As soon as I saw it, I KNEW I had to have it. The way you designed your card makes it look like it would be a fancy fold card. I am so stealing your idea! I’m glad you are taking the night off. I hope you and Wayne have a wonderful Christmas Eve and Day together with your fur babies and friends (if that’s the case). We are going to friends’ this afternoon and evening. I will be attending church services with them in a park on the river…over the river and through the palm trees but not to grandmother’s house!

    • It’s beautiful – probably my favorite in the whole catalog! And yes, it would be perfect as a fun fold! Thanks so much, Karen – and enjoy YOUR day/Eve, too! The church service sounds like it’ll be lovely! 🙂

  3. What a beautiful card! Love the designer paper and the flower image is perfect. Ginny doesn’t like the vacuum either, she runs to the basement and then gets all nervous as I start vacuuming down the steps. Crazy dogs! 🙂

    • Well, apparently YOU’VE never seen a dog sucked up in one and never seen or heard from again! It’s a real thing! LOL. Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂

  4. Kate

    Very nice card, Mary!
Canine vacuphobia. Very common. Clara loves Annie, but not when that “thing” is in her hand.

  5. Love seeing the new stuff! The blue DSP is so rich and I love the flowers! So glad you joined us at FMS!

    • Thanks so much, Linda- appreciate you stopping by to leave a comment on Christmas Eve! Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas!! 🙂

  6. Karren Olaveson

Hi Mary my friend, Just wanted to wish you and your family a very merry Christmas. I make cards for charities and since April, I have 38 more cards to go and I will have sent 500 cards. Without you and your wonderful offers and all of your help to me, I would have not been able to do that. Thank you for your part in my journey, I am more grateful than you know. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. All of your cards are absolutely beautiful.

    Love and best wishes,
    Karren

    • My goodness, Karren – I didn’t know you were doing that! How wonderful of you – and…500 cards! Holy Smokes! I’m so glad that I’m able to help you with that endeavor in some small way! You and your family take the very best of care and have a most wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year, my friend!! 🙂

  7. Absolutely lovely! I love the rich blue behind those sweet flowers. And the flowers on the inside are the perfect touch. Thank you for playing along with us at Freshly Made Sketches.
