Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blossoms and Daisies for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! We’ve got a full roster for today’s sketch challenge, so be sure to check ’em all out when you get done here!

Here’s the sketch we worked with.

My friend asked me for a birthday card for her friend who’s had a few rough years.  She wanted something cheery.  And I thought – what’s more cheery than daisies?  Y’all told me that’s one of the reasons the Daisy Punch has been so popular, so…I went for it!  I added in a sentiment or two from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set – and a few other bits and pieces here and there.  Take a look-see:

I started with my very favorite paper in the Delightful Daisy DSP and matted it on a piece of Night of Navy card stock for the card front.

The next layer is made with Vellum card stock.  I stamped a piece of Vellum with the Burlap background image, in Night of Navy ink.  Then I set the panel aside while it dried – you can give it a shot with your Heat Tool if you’re in a hurry, but remember that ink takes longer to dry on Vellum.

While I waited, I stamped the pretty sentiment from Birthday Blossoms in Old Olive in the corner of a Whisper White panel, and matted that on Night of Navy.  Once the Vellum was dry, I used a little Liquid Glue – in the center, not out at the edges – to adhere the Vellum to the card front.  Then I added the sentiment panel over that with Fast Fuse.

I pulled out the Eclectic Layers Thinlits and cut out some leaves from Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive card stock.  I used my Bone Folder to rub a crease down the middle of each leaf – can you see that in the pictures?  I was happy with how realistic it made them look!

Next up, it was time to make daisies.  Lots of daisies!!  I stamped 10 Daisy Delight daisies on Whisper White in Peekaboo Peach ink.  Then I pulled out my Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie ink pads and painted them with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  First I filled in all the petals with Daffodil Delight, then I used the Pumpkin Pie to lightly highlight the center vein and add shading on each petal.  Finally, I stamped the middle in Pear Pizzaz and Old Olive.  And punched them all out with the Daisy Punch!

I assembled the flowers with a dab of Liquid Glue and then curled a few petals with my Bone Folder.  I created my little floral arrangement with Liquid Glue – except the top flower is adhered with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  I considered adding a little bling, but…decided to leave it like that!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set in Old Olive on a Whisper White panel.  Then I used the cool leaf image in the Eclectic Layers Thinlits to emboss the leaves in the bottom corner – I did that twice.  Can you see it?

Over that, I adhered the fifth flower I’d made with a little Liquid Glue and snipped off the excess petals!

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Peekaboo Peach card base, Fast Fuse’d the card front on – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Daisy Delight flower on the front, in Peekaboo Peach and colored identically to those on the card…

…and then I added more of the Delightful Daisy DSP to the envelope flap.  It’s running horizontally – like a sheaf of flowers strewn across a table! (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it!)

Et Voila!  If this doesn’t bring a smile when it’s opened, then I don’t know what would!  I just think it looks so happy and cheerful – thank you Delightful Daisy suite!  Hope you like!
