Stampin’ Up! Wonderland Blessing for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2

Happy Christmas Eve!  I know that you’re all busy doing your final get-ready-for-tomorrow things – cooking, wrapping, and some-assembly-required-ing!  Thanks for taking the time to see what we’ve created for you –  I hope that you’ll enjoy my project and then head to everyone’s blog and see what they’ve shared!!

I went pure, straight up this-is-the-night-the-Holy-Child-was-born with my card today.  I pulled some Woodland TIEF, a couple of Lovely as a Tree pines, and the Holy Family themselves from the lovely All Ye Faithful stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Woodland Blessing 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This week was a sketch challenge – and here’s where we started:

10408699_1282829091743663_6821449687025678401_n

I started with a panel of Whisper White card stock and my Woodland TIEF.  I cut a piece of scrap paper – punching a 1 3/8″ circle with the same punch, and used a Glue Dot to attach it to the printed side of the folder – where I wanted my moon to be.  Then, using my Brayer, I inked the entire side of the folder with Tuxedo Black Archival Ink.  I added some Night of Navy at the bottom and up about 2/3’s of the way to the top of the folder – blending some with the black to be sure there weren’t any hard lines.  To add the forest, I used the Pine Tree stamp from Lovely As a Tree and stamped it multiple times in Mossy Meadow ink.  I pulled my “moon” off, carefully laid the card stock panel into the folder, and embossed it with my Big Shot. 🙂

Woodland Blessing 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The stamped pine trees don’t pop out at you, but I didn’t want them to – it’s night and it’s a background, not the focal point!

The focal point is the Holy Family.  I heat embossed the image from All Ye Faithful in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Then I cut their circle with the 4th-from-the-center die in my Circles Collection Framelits.  I matted the circle on a 2 1/2″ Gold Foil mat – cut with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.

I used my new Gold Wink Of Stella (coming on 5 Jan in the Occasions catalog) to color the Child’s Halo.

Woodland Blessing 10 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I punched a couple of hearts – using my Hearts Border Punch – from Gold Foil and Silver Glimmer Paper and adhered them with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Hearts.  For Christmas. Well….yea.  Isn’t this the season of love? 🙂

To make the horizontal element of the sketch, I used a length of Basic Black 3/8″ Striped Satin Ribbon, with some Gold 1/8″ Ribbon layered over the top.  Both pieces are just secured in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.  Cuz my scotch tape is off somewhere being used to wrap presents! 😉  I adhered the layered circle over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals!

For the sentiment, I cut the word “Joy” from Gold Foil, using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits die.  Then I used lots of little tiny pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional to stick it on the card front, with a little Liquid Glue under the tail of the “y” where it lays on the focal circle.

Woodland Blessing 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals and Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the card front to a Silver Glimmer Paper mat – it takes a while to dry and get good and stuck on the glitter, so be patient.  Then I made a star with my Gold Wink of Stella – I just made dotted lines sort of like the ones in the star from the Every Blessing set – and then stuck a small Iced Rhinestone over the top.  And that was it for the front!

Woodland Blessing 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The inside is a Whisper White panel over a Silver Glimmer Paper mat, with the verse from Every Blessing heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Powder. I know you’re thinking I went crazy with my metallics…gold here, silver there….well, I figured, they brought Him silver and gold, so…..it made sense to me!

Woodland Blessing 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added another couple of Gold Foil and Silver Glimmer Paper hearts, adhering them with Liquid Glue.  Finally, I SNAILd it into my Night of Navy card base, and SNAILd the card front onto the front – and the card was done!

I decorated a Whisper White Medium Envelope by stamping the Wise Men from All Ye Faithful on the front and coloring the two crowns with the Gold Wink of Stella pen (who is this Stella, anyway – and why does she wink all the time, and how did that get to be a super cool way to add shimmer to a card!?) and the third Wise Man’s headdress is colored with my Elegant Eggplant Stampin’ Write Marker….

Woodland Blessing 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…then I made a liner with a piece of Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum, cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelits.

Woodland Blessing 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!  A perfect card for the eve of Christ’s Birth, don’t you think?  Joy and love are the theme of the card – and the season!

I hope that you’re all ready for the big day.  And are preparing to enjoy time with family and friends!
