Stampin’ Up! Remarkable You and a Custom Envelope!

Well, it’s happened again.  Monday.  Amazing how fast Saturday and Sunday go by, isn’t it?

We did make it to the movie yesterday.  It was quite good – not as good as the book, but I don’t think they could have put all the science in the movie that was in the book. It would have been about a 6 hour mini-series!  But, we enjoyed it.  And, it’s never a bad thing when Matt Damon buffs himself up and then gives us a lovely glimpse of said buffness!

On to the card for today.  My newest stamp set acquisition is the Remarkable You set.  I bought it because I just love the floral images in it – especially the Easter Lily!  All the images in the card are from this single, beautiful set.  Take a look-see:

Remarkable You 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

You may be able to see that this card is a bit of an unusual size and shape for me.  It’s a solid 6″ x 6″.  I did that because the design I used from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge seemed to call for a square card.  And I wanted to use the Tea Lace Paper Doily behind my circle – and I needed a large enough circle for my Easter Lily image.  All that drove me to a 6″ x 6″ card.

Tip:  I learned from the Post Office that square cards need more postage than rectangular ones!  Not sure why, but there it is.  Add in the additional weight, and you should be prepared to shell out a little more in postage. Or delivery it in person!  That’s always welcome, yes? 🙂

The design, like I said, was inspired by the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #290.  Do take a minute to go check them out, okay?

SSSC 290 Sketch

I decided to go with a very soft color palette – Pink Pirouette, Pear Pizzazz factor strongly in this card.  I started by running a panel of Whisper White card stock thru the Big Shot in my Brick Wall TIEF. I love that this TIEF is so large – even this big panel was easily accommodated!  I sponged it lightly with my Pear Pizzazz dauber.  I have a little case that holds all my Sponge Daubers (you can see it here on Amazon).  I had one that had been used previously for Pear Pizzazz – so I just pulled it out and sponged the panel without re-inking the dauber.  Very light color!

I SNAILd that onto a mat that I’d cut from the Subtles Designer Series Paper – the writing design – and thence to my Daffodil Delight card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The middle panel is another piece of Whisper White card stock.  I inked the leaves image from Remarkable You in Soft Suede, stamped it off once on my Grid Paper, and then stamped it across the upper left portion of the paper.  Then I used my Blender Pen and my Pear Pizzazz Ink Pad lid to color the leaves.  I SNAILd this panel to a piece of Pink Pirouette card stock.

Remarkable You 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The Easter Lily image is inked with Soft Suede on the flower portion – then I used a paper towel to be sure that I didn’t have ink on the stem portion.  I used my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker to color the stem – then I stamped it off on the Grid Paper and stamped it on my Whisper White circle.  That circle was cut using the 3 1/4″ die in the Circles Collection Framelits.

Remarkable You 10 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I used the Blender Pens again to color the Easter Lily.  Pink Pirouette for the petals, and a little bit of Daffodil Delight on the stamen.  See?  Just watching Matt Damon (he plays a botanist!) has rubbed off on me and now I can speak flower-ese! 🙂

I SNAILd the decorated circle to my Tea Lace Paper Doily.  With that assembled, I was able to determine where to put the sentiment, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  I stamped that image in Soft Suede.

At that point, I was ready to assemble the card.  I SNAILd the middle rectangle to the card front.  The doily circle is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals – I even put some small pieces around the doily edges just to support them a bit.  Finally, I added a little bow made from Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine – adhered with Liquid Glue – and a Pearl Basic Jewel.  And that was it for the front of the card!

Remarkable You 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside, I SNAILd another panel of Whisper White card stock onto another piece of the Subtles DSP.  I stamped the second sentiment from Remarkable You, in Soft Suede, and then the Lily image in Pear Pizzazz (stamped off once on my Grid Paper).

Remarkable You 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The final step was to build a custom envelope for this slightly oversized card.  I used the Whisper White Envelope Paper and the Envelope Punch. I followed the measurements for a 6″ x 6″ card, but I added 1/8″ to the cut size.  You can see exactly how to make an envelope and a custom liner on my Tutorials Page! 🙂

I added a liner using the Daffodil Delight design in the Brights DSP – to match the Card Base!

Remarkable You 9 - Stamps-N-Lingers

On the front of the envelope, I stamped the Remarkable You lily one last time – in Pear Pizzazz – and very lightly colored it with the Blender Pens again.

Remarkable You 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Volia!  A big “statement” card – designed to let someone know that you think they’re awesome and remarkable and that you’re glad they’re in your life.  This is a wonderful stamp set – and the cards you can make and give are many!  You can find it in the Annual Catalog!

I’ll be back tomorrow with the new Weekly Deals and updates from Stampin’ Up!  Which, of course, means that today is the last day for the Weekly Deals you see down below! 😉

  1. This is stunning Mary! I love the soft colors, perfect for that image and your layout is fantastic. Love everything about it! 🙂

  2. Mom

Square is good…you know, be there or be square, a square deal. Even extra postage doesn’t detract. Really beautiful. Simple and elegant all at once.. Love it.

  3. Yes – I kind of like it – may make more square cards. Probably better than a parallelepiped! 😉

  4. Jari

Ooh, so pretty, and I love square cards. You are inspiring me to make one soon. You are wayyyy ahead on your pink cards, I’m jealous!

  5. LOL! I’m going to need more colors of card stock in 12″ x 12″ if I make any more. I’m not sure I would have used Daffodil Delight on this one – but it’s the only color I have that’s big enough to do a 6″ x 6″ card. My next square card will be smaller!! Thanks, Jari! 🙂
