Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Wreath and Peaceful Pines Wish for Peace

Happy Friday, y’all!  Thanks for joining us for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop yesterday.  I hope you saw some cool projects and learned a few fun techniques to try in your card making and crafting!

Today’s card share uses two beautiful stamp sets from the Holiday catalog.  Peaceful Wreath (although you won’t see any wreaths!) and Peaceful Pines (we’re just so danged peaceful this morning, huh?).  I’m on a bit of a don’t-use-red-or-green-in-Christmas-cards kick – don’t really know why.  Guess I’m just enjoying making things that are unexpected and having them just work!  So, take a look-see:

Peaceful Wreath Peaceful Pine 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This clean and simple card’s design was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #207.  I know lots of folks will come up with truly awesome projects with this design, so be sure to head over there and check them out!

FMS 207

I decided to use green….ish and red….ish in my card.  So, I started with a Pear Pizzaz card base, and made mats with Pink Pirouette.  The art pieces are all Whisper White card stock.  I made the long vertical art piece by stamping two of the holly images from Peaceful Wreath in Versamark Ink, sprinkling them with Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder and then heat embossing them.  Then I colored all the leaves with my Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Marker – and colored a few sections in each leaf with my Mossy Meadow marker.  I colored the Mossy Meadow sections pretty randomly – leaving more sections with just Pear Pizzazz.  I love coloring inside heat embossed images – it’s so easy!  The berries are a classic Christmas color – Calypso Coral!  😉

I SNAILd it to its Pink Pirouette mat and moved on.  For the Christmas Tree – I stamped the image from the Peaceful Pines stamp set in Pear Pizzazz, and cut it out with its matching die from Perfect Pines – which I got in a bundle and saved myself 15%!

The background for the pine tree is a piece of Whisper White, that I ran thru the Big Shot in the Woodgrain TIEF.  Before I ran it, I sponged the raised side of the folder with some Soft Sky ink using a Sponge Dauber.  That laid a very light blue tint to the background of the Woodgrain.  I SNAILd that to its Pink Pirouette mat and moved on!

The sentiment is all from Peaceful Pines – it’s 3 separate image stamps.  I stamped them all in Pear Pizzazz – they’re photopolymer, so they’re easy to line up.  I adhered it to its Pink Pirouette mat and I was ready to assemble the card front.

I used SNAIL to stick all the pieces directly to the Pear Pizzazz card base – no background mat.  Didn’t think it needed it! 🙂

I popped the Christmas Tree onto its section with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a gold star from the Metallics Sequin Assortment with a little dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I stuck a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the center of the star.  Just for a tiny little touch of bling!

I added a sloppy bow of Gold Metallic Thread, topped with a bow from the new Gold Cording Trim – both adhered with Liquid Glue – to the top of the sentiment square.  And that was it for the front of the card!

Peaceful Wreath Peaceful Pines 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

On the inside, I adhered a panel of Whisper White to a Pink Pirouette mat.  Then I stamped the sentiment image, in Mossy Meadow, using a stamp from the Peaceful Pines set.  I used a couple of small pieces of Post-it Note to cover the sentiment, rubbed around it with the Embossing Buddy, and stamped the holly image again in Versamark.  I heat embossed it with Gold Stampin’ Powder, and colored it the same as the holly on the front of the card.

To round out the ensemble, I cut an envelope liner from a piece of Pear Pizzazz card stock, using my Envelop Liner Framelits.  Then I ran the die cut back thru the Big Shot in my Berries & Boughs TIEF – making sure the image would be at the top of the liner flap. I added it to a Whisper White Medium Envelope….

…Et Volia!  A non-traditional Christmas Card – and I think it works!  I love Pear Pizzazz and Pink Pirouette together anyway, so this card really appeals to me.  Hope you like it as well!

We’re enjoying some lovely Fall weather here in Georgia.  The leaves are falling fast – the woods are thinning out.  It’s actually pleasant to be outside!  Hope you’re having similar weather wherever you’re reading this!

Today and tomorrow are the last days to get in on the Stamp Out Breast Cancer with Paper Pumpkin campaign!

AND – TODAY is the start of the Hostess Stampin’ Rewards BONUS!!  It runs thru 9 Nov – so, read below for more details and see how YOU can earn and EXTRA 3% in FREE money!

I’ll be back tomorrow with another project to share.  See you then! 🙂

P.S.  I need to show you this picture, cause it’s just so freakin’ cute.  This is my little tuxedo kitty, Katy, sleeping on my lap.  She’s gotten very be-by this week – and she lets me know that using my computer is an inappropriate use of my lap.  Laps are for the cat! In fact, she’s giving me “the look” right now – Good thing I’m done for the night! 🙂

Love your card with the non-traditional pink. It looks very nice. I am having trouble envisioning pink this month, but you are inspiring me. I used to have 2 kitties like yours!

  6. Thanks, Jari! I’m enjoying the challenge of getting pinks into the projects in a time of year when pink isn’t the first color that comes to mind!

I love the tuxedo kitties. It took her almost 10 years of her little life to decide that sitting on my lap was a good idea. Too long to wait!
