Good COOOOOOLLLLDDDD morning, y’all! Hope you’re staying warm – we got some snow flurries yesterday morning but nothing stuck. The wind has been kicking up a storm, though – our high was 25 yesterday with a feels-like of 2! Uhm…nope – that is WAY too cold for the SOUTH! I am ever so grateful for doors all the way around the barn AND my heated buckets!
Today’s card is a harbinger of Spring! It’s all sunny and bright from the new Homemade Sweetness DSP and there’s some pretty flowers from the new Framed All Around stamp set – these are BOTH coming to you in March with the arrival of the new Online Exclusives. Take a look-see!
The color palette is from the Sunday Stamps color challenge this week!
I got the idea for the card front – isn’t it cool? – from a card that Demonstrator Sue Phillip made!
I started by cutting 1″ x 5″ strips of new Homemade Sweetness DSP into triangles by cutting each one from corner to corner with my Paper Trimmer.
On a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White cardstock, I made a pencil mark on the right edge – at the halfway mark.
I put a thin layer of Liquid Glue all over the panel and then settled all my strips into place. I started at the center – and put the point of each triangle at that pencil mark. I did that all the way around – until the panel was completely covered.
I used scissors to trim all the excess DSP – then I cut the whole panel down to 3 3/4″ x 5″ using the Paper Trimmer.
On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped the Framed All Around sentiment in Pecan Pie ink. Then I stamped the pretty floral image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.
I colored the flowers with the Light Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Blend. Using the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die, I cut out the sentiment and flowers.
Using my Paper Trimmer – I sliced off the right edge of the circle and then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I matted the card front on Pecan Pie cardstock using Liquid Glue, then matted it again – this time on Pretty in Pink – with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I added some Strawberry Slush dots from the new Strawberries & Dots (coming on 3 March as an Online Exclusive) and the card front was done.
On the inside, I stamped the Framed All Around floral in Tuxedo Black in the corner of a Basic White panel and colored it with the Light Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Blend.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the inside of the Pecan Pie card base – added the double-matted card front with Liquid Glue and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Framed All Around floral on the front…
…and more of the Homemade Sweetness DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I thnk this is such a fun way to make a card front – and you could use all sorts of DSP for it! Just try to use at least three different designs – in happy-together colors!! The Homemade Sweetness DSP was a perfect choice – I did it in blues for the video card! And the pretty Framed All Around stamp set has florals AND beautiful sentiments so…it’s sort of perfect!!
