Monday…Monday…so good to me. Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would beeeeeee…..hope YOURS is all you hope it will be! 🙂
My card today is a cheerful little birthday card – brought to you courtesy of the Beach Day stamp set and coordinating dies! And – it’s a Clean and Simple Card, too! Yes – from ME! Take a look-see:
The layout was inspired by the sketch at the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.
And the color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge.
I did a quick video on how to make this one, which is posted on Instagram. You can see it on YouTube right here!
I started with two 3 3/4″ x 5″ pieces of Basic White cardstock. In one of them, I used the next-to-largest Stylish Shapes circle die to cut out a circle – placing it where I wanted my “sun” to go on the card front.
I set the panel with the hole over the second piece of Basic White and, using a Small Blending Brush, added Daffodil Delight ink to make the sun.
I die cut a Beach Day tree trunk, palm leaves and grass from Basic Black cardstock. Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the trunk and then popped the palm fronds in place with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered the grass at the bottom of the trunk with Liquid Glue.
Using the edge die in the Beach Day set, I cut some Basic Black “ground”.
On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Beach Day surf board image in Azure Afternoon, Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight. I colored each board with the corresponding Light Stampin’ Blend and cut them out with the die in the set.
I snipped a little off the bottom of the Poppy Parade board and then adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I trimmed the die cut “ground” down to about 3 1/4″ long and adhered it over the die cuts with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On Basic White, I stamped the Beach Day gull in Tuxedo Black and cut it out with the corresponding die. Then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I stamped the Beach Day sentiment in Poppy Parade – matted the panel on Basic Black – and the card front was done!
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Beach Day in Poppy Parade on a Basic White panel. In Tuxedo Black, I stamped the gull, umbrella and grass image. I colored the umbrella with the Light Azure Afternoon and Light Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black mat and into the Azure Afternoon card base – popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Beach Day umbrella and grass on the front…
…and the grass and gull images on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! The Beach Day stamp set and dies are just as fun as they can be – I love that palm tree so much – and there are great sentiments, too!! And a line of surf boards in the sand…makes for a wonderful, lazy afternoon at the beach!!
I hope you like!

Thirteen states – and Puerto Rico! – will have Back-to-School Sales Tax Holidays this year and some Stampin’ Up! items qualify for the tax break in those states! BOOM!
The states with upcoming tax holidays are: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. So, if you live in one of those states or Puerto Rico, take a second to download the spreadsheet below and mark your calendar!
Here’s the list of states having sales tax holidays, what the dates are and what SU! supplies will qualify for tax free purchases (HINT: Stampin’ Dimensionals qualify in ALL the states! Just sayin’!) during the holiday (click on the image to download a full-size printable page):
Please note: You have to place your order with Stampin’ Up! DURING the tax holiday period in your state in order to receive these items tax-free (so – that’s from MIDNIGHT on the first day to MIDNIGHT on the last day of the tax holiday). Also, keep in mind that this is a STATE SALES TAX holiday and the state statute may not apply to county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes.
For those wondering about Georgia, Louisiana, New Jersey and Wisconsin, those states will NOT have the sales tax holiday this year.
