Good morning and Happy Friday! Whoo-hoo – we’ve made it to the weekend again! And – we’re at T-4 days to the start of the new 2023-2024 Annual Catalog! Which means there’s only THREE days left to get those last minute things from the Jan – Apr 2023 Mini and the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog that are retiring! Yikes!
Speaking of – I mixed some old-and-leaving with some old-and-staying and a little new-and-coming soon for today’s fun fold card! How’s THAT for covering all my bases!? 😎
The sweet Hello Ladybug and Ladybug Builder punch are my old-and-staying goodies, with the new-and-coming-soon entry in the form of some Fresh as a Daisy DSP. For the sadly-leaving-us-soon contestant…check out the sweet flowers from the Medium Daisy Punch on this card. Take a look-see!
This is a trellis card, y’all – isn’t it fun!?
My layout for the front was inspired by the sketch at The Paper Players this week!
And – being a fun fold – it seemed like a good fit for the Creative Creases Anything Goes with a Fun Fold challenge!
I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of new Pecan Pie cardstock that I scored at 5 1/2″. From what would become the front panel, I cut 6 – 1/2″ strips (so – that’s 1/2″ x 4 1/4″). From another piece of the Pecan Pie cardstock, I cut three more 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ pieces.
Using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder (thankfully carrying over!) – I embossed 7 of the strips.
Using Liquid Glue, I adhered two embossed strips to the remaining two un-embossed strips to make a two-layer strip. Then I used Paper Snips to trim the one end into a dog-ear fence post top.
I adhered a piece of cloudy-sky paper from Fresh as a Daisy to the top of the card front – then adhered one of the embossed Pecan Pie strips to make the first “rail”.
I adhered the “posts” with Liquid Glue. To complete the trellis, I aligned the bottom rail with the bottom of the card base – adhering it to the posts with a little Liquid Glue. Then I spaced the remaining rails – adhering them one at a time to the back of the posts. Finally, I trimmed the excess from the bottom of the posts with Paper Snips.
Confused yet? I’d recommend watching the video – it’s a heck of a lot easier to show than to tell! 🙂
To decorate the trellis, I stamped two Hello Ladybug leaves in Granny Apple Green on a piece of Basic White. I also stamped the three little flowers in Berry Burst. Then I fussy cut the leaves and flowers.
I used the Medium Daisy Punch – retiring soon and on SALE in the Last Chance store!! – to cut out three Crushed Curry and three Basic White flowers. I adhered the white flowers to the Crushed Curry flowers with Liquid Glue.
Now – to the bee!
– I used the Ladybug Builder Punch to cut out a Basic Black and a Crushed Curry ladybug.
– I cut the head from the Crushed Curry shape and adhered the body to the Basic Black shape.
– I cut a few 1/4″ wide pieces of Basic Black cardstock and adhered them to the shape with Liquid Glue.
– I cut a pair of wings from a piece of Vellum Basics Specialty Paper and adhered them with a little Liquid Glue.
I adhered the top daisy with Liquid Glue then added a fussy cut Berry Burst flower with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the two Granny Apple Green leaves and then adhered the next daisy with Liquid Glue, adhered the bee with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered the final flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue.
I stamped the Hello Ladybug sentiment in Berry Burst on Basic White and cut it out with the smallest Stylish Shapes label die. Then I adhered it to a rail with Liquid Glue.
A simple bow, tied from two lengths of Tahitian Tide Baker’s Twine, and adhered with a Glue Dot, plus Daffodil Delight Glossy Dots and Copper Clay 2023-2025 In Color Dots, finished up the card front!
On the inside, I adhered another piece of Fresh as a Daisy with Liquid Glue. On a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Hello Ladybug leaf in stamped-off-once Granny Apple Green and added a sentiment in Berry Burst.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and then onto the back panel and the card was done!
My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Hello Ladybug leaf in Granny Apple Green on the front…
…and more Fresh as a Daisy DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! So…what do you think of the Ladybug Builder Punch re-imagined as a bumblebee?? I sorta love it, myself! And – this punch and coordinating Hello Ladybug stamp set will still be available in the new catalog! The Medium Daisy Punch, on the other hand is…leaving us soon!
