Stampin’ Up! Playing in the Rain Sneak Peek Accordion Fun Fold with Video Tutorial

Good morning and happy Friday!  Have you had a good week?  Are you ready for a weekend.  Are you ready for…Christmas??  I’d love to tell you that we are – that our tree is up – that all the baking is done and boxes mailed.  But – I don’t like to lie to y’all so….🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

My card today features one of the coolest – cutest – more adorable-est – suite in the new Jan – Apr 2023 Mini Catalog – the Rain or Shine Suite!  The Playing in the Rain stamp set and bundled dies are just wonderful and the Rain or Shine Specialty DSP.  Well – IT is simply gorgeous!  Fortunately – I made a cool Accordion Fold fun fold card that really lets that paper shine.  Take a look-see:

So cute, right??

I created the accordion fold starting with a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock that I scored at 4″, 5 3/4″, 7 1/2″ and 9 1/4″ on the long side using my Simply Scored Score Tool.

I folded the 4″ line as a valley – and then folded each subsequent fold in the opposite direction.

I selected some rainy – and beautiful! – paper from the Rain or Shine Specialty DSP and matted four strips on Balmy Blue – then adhered them to the four accordion panels with Liquid Glue.

For the pop-out mechanism, I scored a 4 1/2″ x 6″ piece of Flirty Flamingo cardstock at 3″ as a “mountain” fold.  Then I matted two pieces of flower-strewn Rain or Shine DSP on Balmy Blue and adhered them to the two panel with Liquid Glue.

I love it when Stampin’ Up! gives us beautiful designer paper that has images that can be cut with DIES!! And that’s exactly what this suite features!  I used dies in the Playing in the Rain die set to cut out the adorable turtle, six clouds and a bunny from the paper!

I folded a length of new Balmy Blue & White 1/2″ Variegated Ribbon (coming in the new catalog on 5 Jan) in half and tied a piece of Garden Green twine from the new Three Twine Combo Pack (also in the new catalog).  Then I adhered it to the left panel of the pop-out with Stampin’ Seal and a Glue Dot.

I adhered a small strip of Rain or Shine Specialty DSP over that with some more Stampin’ Seal.

I stamped the Playing in the Rain sentiment in Flirty Flamingo on a piece of Basic White cardstock and cut it out with the next-to-smallest Stylish Shapes circle die.  I adhered the sentiment with Liquid Glue – then added the turtle with more of the Liquid Glue.

I adhered the six clouds – three on each panel – with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To adhered the pop out mechanism, I added a thin line of Liquid Glue on each end of the 4 1/2″ x 6″ panel.  I flattened the card base and then set the pop-out in place.  I centered it on the four panels – making sure that the 3″ score line was centered over the middle fold (the 7 1/2″ fold).  If that’s confusing – and I can see how it would be! – be sure to check the video down below!

For the back panel, I adhered a Balmy Blue-matted piece of Rain or Shine DSP to the back.  Then, on a piece of Basic White, I stamped the Sentimental Park sentiment in Flirty Flamingo.  I added the Playing in the Rain flowers in Old Olive – then colored them with my Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock and then onto the back panel.  Tip – the panel is pretty much centered but…you want to be sure it’s not visible when the card is closed! 🙂

I adhered the Playing in the Rain die cut Rain or Shine DSP bunny with Liquid Glue.

Then – using tiny dabs of Liquid Glue – and the putty-end of my Take-Your-Pick Tool – I adhered some sweet little Loose Daisy Embellishments on the sentiment and on the back panel – and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the Playing in the Rain flowers on the front – stamped in Old Olive and colored with the Flirty Flamingo, Mango Melody and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers…

…and more Rain or Shine Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Isn’t this Accordion Fun Fold so cool?  I love how much “real estate” it gives you to show off beautiful paper like the beautimous Rain or Shine Specialty DSP!!

And the coordinating Playing in the Rain bundle – with it fun images and sentiments – and dies that cut out SO many cool images right from the DSP…

I used the pretty Sentimental Park stamp set (also new and also coming on 5 Jan!) for the inside sentiment!  It’s a great set and I can’t wait to work with it as the Star of the Show!
