Stampin’ Up! On the New Horizons Sneak Peek with Video Tutorial

Well good morning on the last day of 2021!  That’s hard to believe, isn’t it?  Wasn’t it just…yesterday that we were saying HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021?!? I think it was!!

I hope if you have plans tonight that you have a wonderful – and SAFE!! – evening!  I am sure I’ll see the arrival of 2022 – I almost always have to go to the bathroom around midnight so…will likely be awake at least enough to acknowledge that it’s happened!  LOL!  We ARE party animals! 🙂

If you were able to join me for our last YouTube of 2021 yesterday, I appreciate it!  If not, but you’d like to watch the replay, here ’tis!

The On the Horizon stamp set with the bundled Horizons Dies is part of the new and amazing New Horizons Suite coming NEXT TUESDAY in the Jan – June 2022 Mini Catalog!!  Whoo-hooo!!  I used it here – along with the coordinating New Horizons DSP – to create a pretty little beachy scene!  Take a look-see:

I’m playing along with the last Watercooler Wednesday Challenge of the year!

I started by adhering a piece of the New Horizons DSP at a jaunty angle on the front of an Evening Evergreen card base using Liquid Glue.

On a smaller piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper, I stamped the wunnermus grasses image from On The Horizon in Evening Evergreen.  I added the panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I made some “sky” by cutting out a piece of sky-ish paper from the New Horizons DSP with the plank-die in the Horizons Die set.  Here’s the design I picked…

While I had the paper out, I cut TWO of the grasses dies from the bottom of the panel.

In the green part.

Cuz…GRASS! 😉

I set the “sky” die cut in place on the watercolor paper card front and then stamped the On The Horizon birds image in Basic Gray – letting it “fall off” the die cut “sky”.  Then I adhered the die in place with Liquid Glue – lining up the bird wings!

I stamped the plank image from On The Horizon in Crumb Cake on another piece of Watercolor Paper.  Then I cut the Horizons Die picket fence from the stamped image.  Tip: the die is bigger than the stamped image – just be sure the TOPS of the pickets are in the stamped area!  The bottoms will be covered up!

I stamped the fence with the grasses image in Garden Green, then lightly curled the “fence” with my fingers.  I adhered the fence to the card front with thin little pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals behind just the middle three “pickets” – letting it stay “curled”.

I used Liquid Glue and a small piece of Dimensional to adhere one of the grasses die cuts over the bottom of the picket fence.

The On The Horizon sentiment is stamped in Evening Evergreen on another New Horizons DSP design and cut with the smallest skinny die in the Stitched Rectangle Die set.

I used a little Liquid Glue (on the left end) and a couple of Dimensionals (on the right end) to adhere it to the card front.

I added the second grasses die cut with Dimensionals.  Then, to finish it off, I used some sweet little Pebble Enamel Shapes (also part of the New Horizons Suite!) around the fence and grass and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the On The Horizons grasses in Evening Evergreen and the birds in Basic Gray on a Very Vanilla panel. Then I added a few more Pebble Enamel Shapes.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Very Vanilla mat and into the Evening Evergreen card base and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the On The Horizon grasses in Evening Evergreen and the birds in stamped-off-once Basic Gray on the front..

…and more of the New Horizons DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – true confessions.  When I first saw this set I didn’t….love it.  But…now that I’ve played with it a bit…oh my goodness!  What fun!  On The Horizon and it’s images and sentiments are perfectly complemented by the bundled Horizon Dies!  And the paper.  THE PAPER!! The New Horizons DSP is…stunning!

I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

When a Guy and his Son go to the Home Depot to get tools….BOTH of them need a new tool.

And…when you get home you line up all your toys…erhm….TOOLS…..

…and do inventory!!

Boo Bear remains the fave.

Which might be a mixed blessing from Boo Bear’s point of view. 🤷‍♀️

  1. Really enjoyed watching you create your card. This is such a great bundle. Finn is so cute with his tools. Happy 2022 to y’all.

  2. That card is stunning!! Love this design, the colors are perfect and so is the layering! Yeah, poor Boo Bear…even the new hammer couldn’t give him a break. 🙂

    • stampsnlingers

Nope – Boo’s his go-to guy, for sure! Thank you so much, Amy! 🙂

  3. Faith Simpson

    Hey Mary,
This is such a beautiful card!! I just printed the PDF so I can copy it……when I get the supplies very soon now! Lots of great things in that suite to play with.
Finn’s new hammer toy is so CUTE!! of COURSE he had to have a new toy….er, tool….when the guys were tool shopping. It is so sweet that he remains loyal to Boo Bear tho…..

    • stampsnlingers

Yes, Boo’s his fave, for certain sure! He tries not to let the other toys know, but…they know. Oh they know! Thanks, Faith – have fun with it when it arrives! 🙂

  4. Guys and their toys…er, tools! 🙂
Beautiful card. Yes, it is in the catalog, and yes, I ordered the ingredients to make it. I have not done it yet! Now I will. Need a guy birthday card for nephew in SC, and think this will fill the bill nicely.
Foggy and icy here this a.m., supposed to get 4-8″ of white precip tomorrow. Good time to stay in and celebrate with a couple football games and plenty of food!
Happy New Year to you, Wayne and the kids.

Perfect birthday-for-a-guy card, yes!! Thank you so much, Julie – I hope you have a great day! 🙂

  5. Kathryn Howe

Love the beach design! I always used the DSP as background never occurred to me to die cut parts and create a new design. The scenery is very realistic and I love the New Horizon DSP even more. Also enjoyed the Finn Fan club photos!

    • stampsnlingers

Thanks, Kathryn – I love this suite, for sure!! Happy New Year! 🙂

  6. This card is adorable. Totally love the design.
