Like most hops, we have a theme each month – and this month’s is “Shake Things Up”! Which means – try something new!
So…I pulled out my NEW uninked Loyal Leaves stamp set and used a technique I haven’t used in a long time – using a new color for the process – to create a masculine card! Actually – I think it could be for anyone, really!
Cryptic enough? Well….take a look-see:
The layout for this one is from this week’s Fab Friday sketch challenge!
The technique I used is called Joseph’s Coat – cuz of all the color in the process! When I’ve done it in the past – the WAY past! – I’ve used Black as the top coat. For this one, I thought Stazon Saddle Brown Ink would be really pretty. So…that’s what I did!
I started with a piece of Very Vanilla, and using my Cajun Craze, Bumble Bee and Pumpkin Pie ink pads, I “scraped” the pads across the panel – sort of randomly. Here’s how it ended up!
Once the panel was totally dry – I even used my Heat Tool on Low to help it along – I inked up two of the leaf images in the Loyal Leaves stamp set with Versamark Ink and stamped them across the panel several times.
I sprinkled the panel with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it with the Heat Tool – on the high setting.
When THAT was totally cool, I used a wedge of Stampin’ Sponge to sponge Stazon Saddle Brown Ink all over the panel. I added quite a bit of ink to get it dark as I wanted. Then I wiped the ink off the embossed images with a paper towel.
And then – not gonna fib ya – I just sat there and admired that gorgeous panel for a minute!! 🙂
Then I matted it on Bumble Bee.
The card front is a piece of barnwood paper from the In Good Taste DSP, matted on Bumble Bee.
I adhered the Joseph’s Coat panel to the card front with Liquid Glue.
Next, I wrapped a length of Copper 1/8″ Metallic Grosgrain Ribbon from the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack around the whole thing, adhering it in the back with Glue Dots.
I adhered a few In Good Taste Elements with Liquid Glue to the card front.
On a piece of Very Vanilla, I stamped one of the sentiments from Loyal Leaves in Cajun Craze and punched it with the Tailored Tags Punch. Over the sentiment, I stamped a Loyal Leaves leaf in Bumble Bee. Then I added faux stitches with my Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker.
I used Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiment to the card front. Then I added a small copper ribbon bow with a Glue Dot.
Finally, I added a few Cinnamon Cider 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dots and the card front was done!
On the inside, I added a second Loyal Leaves sentiment in Cajun Craze to a Very Vanilla panel. Then I stamped the leaf over top in Bumble Bee and added a Cinnamon Cider enamel dot.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Bumble Bee mat and into my Cinnamon Cider card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Loyal Leaves leaf in Bumble Bee on the front…
…and more of the barnwood In Good Taste DSP on the envelope flap.
Et Voila! I LOVE how this technique turned out using the Saddle Brown Stazon ink, don’t you? Such rich tones – and the detailed leaves in the Loyal Leaves set are stunningly perfect for the Joseph’s Coat, I think! I also love the sentiments in the set – who could you think of that they would be PERFECT for?!
