Stampin’ Up! Vintage Well Written Path of Petals Anniversary

Hey y’all!  How’s the haps on this Tuesday?

Last week my friend in Colorado asked me for a special Anniversary card for some good friends of hers who are celebrating their 50th Anniversary.  Which is pretty darned cool!  I asked for some specifics and wrote down: grasses/prairie, horses, down-to-earth, vintage.

Then I stewed for a while.  I flipped pages in the catalog for ideas.  I knew I wanted to use the Friendly Silhouettes Dies for the grasses.  And the Let It Ride set for the horse element.  I also figured Well Said/Well Written for the sentiments.  But I wanted a…..better?…sentiment, too.  I finally found it in the Path of Petals stamp set.  And I saw a fun card front treatment in the catalog, sooo…putting it all together, here’s what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

I started with a Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes card.  I matted some Mossy Meadow 6″ x 6″ DSP (from the Neutrals pack) on Mossy Meadow card stock for the card front.

Then I pulled out the Come Sail Away DSP and cut 6 – 1″ x 4″ strips of the newsprint design.  I used my Paper Snips to rough up the edges of each strip and then sponged them with Crumb Cake using Sponge Daubers.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the strips to the card front and then added mini staples (from a non-Stampin’ Up! stapler) for a vintage-y decoration.

With the grasses die in the Friendly Silhouettes Dies, I cut one in Gold Foil (50th Anniversary!), one in Mossy Meadow and one from an extra piece of a Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Card.  I adhered the Mossy Meadow die cut to the Gold die cut – offsetting them a bit for some depth – using Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue (and added a couple more mini staples).

I stamped “Anniversary” from the Well Said stamp set in Early Espresso on more of the Come Sail Away DSP.  Over the word I stamped the grazing horses from Let It Ride in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I cut it out with a Stitched Nested Label Die, roughed up the edges with the Snips and sponged it with Crumb Cake.

I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and used them to wind/adhere a few loops of Linen Thread and popped it onto the card front – nestling it down in the grasses a little.

I used the die from Well Written to cut a Gold Foil “Happy” and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

To finish it off, I tied a Linen Thread Double-Loop Bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Over top I added a simple bow in Mossy Meadow Linen Thread from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.  Finally, I added a Gold Metallic Pearl – and the card was done!

For the inside, I added the Let It Ride horses in stamped-off-once Crumb Cake to a Very Vanilla panel.  Over the top, using my Stamparatus, I added the perfectly perfect sentiment from Path of Petals in Mossy Meadow.   I used Liquid Glue to add about a half of the Friendly Silhouettes grasses that I’d cut earlier from the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Card.  I finished up with another Gold Metallic Pearl.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Card, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

The matching Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Envelope got more Crumb Cake Let It Ride grazing horses on the front…

…and I added a Come Sail Away DSP Envelope Liner (I traced the shape of the liner that comes with the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, then fussy cut it – and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake) with Liquid Glue.

Et Voila!  So…uses a lot of elements, yes.  Has multiple steps…yes.  But – nothing very hard – and I think they pieces and parts all come together to create the card I was going for!  I love the versatility of the Well Said stamp set and Well Written Dies – and the wonderful sentiment from Path of Petals is just right for an Anniversary or Wedding card.  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Apparently I wasn’t paying enough attention to The Man and Mr. Reindeer yesterday afternoon.

So – The Man brought Mr. Reindeer VERY CLOSE!!

It was pretty close – and moving fast! – so…sorta hard to get a picture.

He.  Was. On. A. Mission.

The mission was successful.  And – interestingly – Katy just watched in disgust.  But she didn’t leave.

Younger brothers are just something dignified cats have to deal with, I suppose.

Insert long-suffering-feline-sigh…

  1. What a pretty card! I’m sure that she’ll love it. 🙂 As for the reindeer and the brother…well, both are tolerable when perched high above on Mom’s lap. 😉

    • stampsnlingers

True – High Ground has the advantage always. And if it’s the highly coveted mom’s lap? Even better! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  2. Ellie Svihus

Mary, not to be dramatic, but this is my favorite card You. Have. Ever. Created. So much talent, thought, design and effort. 50 years of marriage is a blessing and you are, too! – Ellie

    • stampsnlingers

Wow – that is VERY kind of you to say! And I appreciate it VERY much! Thank you, Ellie!! 🙂

  3. You are so fortunate Katy will get in your lap. Chester does not like to do that UNLESS there are treats in hand!! Your family is just so cute and playful. Ah, your card…I will be making it for my brother-in-law and sister–in-law’s 50th anniversary in October. They got married one month after Perry and me. I think it’s just the cat’s meow…Chester told me to say that! TFS.

    • stampsnlingers

I recognized Chester’s voice and language in that one! Katy has only been so lap-happy since Leo left us. Any port in a storm, I guess! Thanks for the nice words, Karen – happy CASEing! 🙂

  4. Paula Poindexter

    Very pretty card Mary.
You have a way of making me items in a different way.
    Dang it! LoLoLoLoLoL
Finn is demanding of your time. Good Katy for not moving off of your lap.
Happy Retirement Mary! You’ve earned it!
    Hugs

    • stampsnlingers

LOL! I sorry! 🙂 And yes – he IS a jelly-belly! If he had his way, Katy would NEVER get any lap time! She’s pretty tolerant of his goofy-ness! Thanks, Paula! 🙂
