Stampin’ Up! Beautiful Day for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!! It’s color week and we’ve got the full complement of hoppers…. so be sure to check out all their projects when you’re done here, won’t you?

I inked up a new-to-me stamp set called Beautiful Day from the 2018 Occasions Catalog.  I’d seen a lovely card out in the ether that had a large flower embossed on Vellum and colored and I remembered how much I liked the technique.  So, I decided to use the flower in the Beautiful Day stamp set to create my own paper stained glass window.  Take a look-see:

I played along with our color sketch, of course…

..and also borrowed a little inspiration from the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge for the layout.

I started with a panel of Whisper White and, with the small triple-flower image in the Beautiful Day stamp set, stamped a few times across the side with Flirty Flamingo.  I inked the image and stamped it three times without re-inking.  And I did that three times.

Did that make sense to you? 😉

Then I embossed the panel in my Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF and matted it on Berry Burst card stock for the card front.

I wrapped a length of Berry Burst 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding around the end, securing it in the back with Fast Fuse, and set it aside.

The art piece started with a 3 1/4″ square of Vellum card stock.  I inked the large Beautiful Day flower in Versamark, stamped the square, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.

I colored the flower with my Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Marker – coloring some petals several times to darken them.  I also cheated a tad and used some Pear Pizzazz.  Cuz…leaves. 🙂  When it was all dry, I lightly brushed the colored areas with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for a little shine!

I cut a frame from Silver Foil by first cutting a 3 1/4″ square piece, then I used a 2 7/8″ square die from the Squares Layering Framelits to cut out the middle.  I embossed the frame in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF.  Then I used a thin line of Liquid Glue to adhere the frame to the Vellum square.

With Foam Adhesive strips all the way around the edge, I popped the framed square onto a 3 1/4″ square piece of Whisper White and added that to the card front with Liquid Glue.

For the sentiment, I cut a banner of Whisper White and, inking just the Happy Birthday portion of the Beautiful Day sentiment image with my Berry Burst Stampin’ Write Marker, stamped the sentiment.  I cut the ends with my Banner Triple Punch.

I cut a narrow strip of Silver Foil and punched two banner ends with the Banner Triple Punch.  I cut the strip into two pieces, then adhered one piece to each end of the banner with Liquid Glue and stuck the whole thing on to the art.

My embellishment is a Billie Moan bow from Silver Thread, a “regular” bow from the Berry Burst 5/8″ Crinkled Seam Binding, and two Petal Passion Embellishments – all adhered with Glue Dots.  I added some teardrop and round Glitter & Clear Epoxy Shapes and the card front was done!

On the inside, I inked the second portion of the sentiment with my Berry Burst Marker and, with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped it in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  I surrounded it with some more of the Flirty Flamingo Beautiful Day flowers.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Berry Burst mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

The front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Flirty Flamingo flowers…

…and I gave the envelope flap even more – plus I embossed it in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF!

Et Voila!  I love how this Beautiful Day flower looks like a stained-glass window – the Silver embossing looks just like leading, don’t you think?  Hope you like!
