Stampin’ Up! Daisy Delight Corner Pop-Up Card – and Blog Candy!

Hey, y’all – it’s Monday!  Bleh.  No.  Really.

Bleh bleh bleh!!  Yes, I’m happy to be home, but…I’d like a month of weekends, please!  And no work.  And no specter of future travel to places in Utah….I say again. BLEH BLEH BLEEEEEHHHHH!!

Okay – my self-blehing pity party is over.

Thank you for listening!

If you were able to join me last night on Facebook (thank you!) you saw me make today’s fun-fold card.  If you weren’t able to join – here’s a link to the video on You Tube!  Enjoy…

This card technique has been seen a lot on Pinterest these days, but the card I saw that really struck me and inspired this one is from Flutterbyheidi!  Check out her card right here!

I used the Daisy Delight stamp set and matching Daisy Punch to make this one.  And a little bit of Wood Textures DSP.  Take a look-see:

Oh wait – yes, that’s quite pretty, no doubt.  But here’s the fun part!

Cool, huh?

So – the video shows all the how-to’s and where for’s.  But, basically, you start with an 8″ x 8″ piece of card stock and then do some scoring and a little folding.  Cut out a corner and then, with a little Tear and Tape, you end up with a square, corner pop-up card to decorate!

Now – I’d seen a card quite similar to this out on Pinterest, so I decided to try it for myself.  I used the light whitewashed design in the Wood Textures DSP on three panels – all matted on Cajun Craze.

I cut a hole in the front panel, added a sentiment from Daisy Delight in Cajun Craze ink and then added a scalloped-edge circle frame in Cajun Craze.  That’s made by cutting a scallop circle with a Circles Layering Framelit and then cutting the next size smaller straight side circle out of that.  Then I just adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The Daisy Delight daisy is stamped in Crushed Curry three times on Whisper White and punched with the matching Daisy Punch.  I used my Clear Wink of Stella to pull some color into all the petals and then lightly curled them with a Bone Folder.  I stacked them up with Stampin’ Dimensionals between them and adhered it to the card inside panel with a little smear of Fast Fuse.

The sentiment on the inside is from Daisy Delight, stamped in Cajun Craze – I’ve cut my Thank You image in half so that I can get the stacked words!  I also stamped some Old Olive stems and Crushed Curry flowers.

I decorated my Whisper White Medium Envelope with more flowers from the Daisy Delight stamp set on the front…

…and I added another piece of the white-washed Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap and stamped it all over with Crushed Curry daisies!

Et Voila!  This isn’t a hard fold to do – just take your time.  Watch the video – and I highly recommend that you make a template to help you keep the folds and cuts straight.  Or…diagonal…as the case may be!  I love this one with the Daisy Delight stamp set and punch – but what other sets can you think of that would work with this kind of fold?  Anywho – hope you like! 🙂

Scroll on down and see what you need to do to win the Blog Candy. I promise you’re going to want to be the winner! 🙂

Finn-Fan Fix

I think in a past FFF, I mentioned that Finny will grab the tail end of his collar and carry it along as he runs around.  Yes?

Well.  He’s gotten a bit obsessive….nay, compulsive!…about it!

He’ll twist himself into crazy contortions to grab it now.  And – he works so hard trying to get it that he’ll twirl himself into a bush.

Or a golf cart!  He’s a goof-ball, I tell you!

Apparently SOMEbody has to hold the dog to keep him in line!

Even in the house.

While he’s resting…

I got nuthin’, y’all.  I simply do not know. 🙂

  1. What a pretty card Mary! Love the fun fold design! Sorry that I missed your live video last night, I need to go watch it to see how you made it. 🙂 Awesome blog candy giveaway too!!

  2. Beverly Farmer

I love the Daisy punch. I think it is so popular because it has been a while since SU had a punch that you can make a flower with – without using other punches. And the stamp set coordinates so well.

  3. Sandra Warthen

Good morning. I think that punch is so popular because it makes such a realistic flower you could put them in a vase! The fact that it has gorgeous paper to go with it doesn’t hurt.

    • Good morning, my friend! Yes – it could definitely be in a vase. In fact we saw it used just like that at OnStage when it was revealed!! Thanks much – and good luck in the draw! 🙂

  4. I think the daisy punch is so popular because I bet lots of SU purchasers are also PEO sisters. The daisy is the official flower of the organization. Finn is too cute in these pics. What a unique and fun personality he has…like his Mom. Have a great week in spite of the blehs that come from working. Just remember how many products you can buy because of that paycheck 😉

    • Thanks so much, Karen, for all the kind words. That ability to buy more SU! goodies is about the only thing keeping me hanging on right now! 😉 You may be right about the PEO…Good luck in the draw!

  5. RitaR

I’m heading over to YouTube to watch your video …. your card is super cute with that clever fun-fold. There’s something so bright and sunny and uplifting about daisies and I think that’s one reason the daisy punch has been so popular. As for Finn’s obsession/compulsion to “keep control of himself” by holding his collar tail, I’m thinking he may be onto something there ….. I need something to control myself so I’ll stay away from all the goodies in my refrigerator! LOL

    • Hmmm. Hold one’s collar (necklace??) to stay on one’s diet! I’m headed to the bedroom to find a suitable necklace! He’s a genius! Thanks Rita – enjoy the video. And yes. Daisies are so cheerful!! Good luck in the draw! 🙂

  6. Good morning and I love the card. The ease of the punch is a plus, stamp and punch, you’ve got a great flower. It makes for a beautiful card or project quickly. So many color options and ways of using the Daisy. Thanks for sharing the fold idea, have a joy filled week.

    • Thank you so much, Seletta – and yes. The convenience of a stamp/punch is huge!! Appreciate you stopping by and good luck in the draw! 🙂

  7. Karla Boncher

Glad to watch your video to make it seem easier to do. I love the fun daisy set & can’t stop experimenting with it.

    • I know – even when I know I need to use something else, I’m trying to keep from using this bundle!! Thanks so much, Karla! 🙂

  8. Pat Christ

Tho I couldn’t live without my Big Shot, sometimes it’s nice to have a punch. You can sometimes create a project much faster with a punch, especially if you have multiples to make.
Love that silly Mr. Finn, always brings a smile!

  9. Kate

I reckon I will leave this daisy engineering feat to you! Nifty!
Ah, Finn…what to say. I suppose there is some sense of security in being “held” -or not??? It IS a bit goofy, but they all have one …or two.

  10. Great video and card! I will have to CAS this one. I am thinking, thinking, of what other stamps/punches/dies would work here. HMMM.
Anyway, I think the punch is so popular because: 1) everyone loves daisies; 2) ease of use-dies are great and I love them, but a punch is right there at your elbow, no messing with sandwiches, etc; 3)when layered it is pretty realistic; 4) I love it, so why wouldn’t everyone??? 🙂 🙂

    • Excellent points all, Julie! It can’t fail to be popular!! Thanks so much – and when you think of another perfect set to use, let me know! 🙂

  11. Great card, Mary, I missed the live feed on creating it, so I will also have to watch it, I love the card. It is awesome!

  12. Denese Guillen

Loved your video, can’t wait to make one. Thank you for all the great tips!

  13. Kathelyn Bush

Finn is such a gorgeous dog! I love seeing posts about him……and of course your wonderful cards too!

  14. Paula Poindexter

Hi Mary, for me the daisy punch brings back memories of a wedding I was in MANY years ago.
Also it’s the official flower of my Extension Homemakers Group.

But mostly, I think it is just so darn versatile.

    • It really is versatile – and it helps that the stamp set and paper that go with it are so gorgeous! Thanks, Paula! 🙂

  15. Karen L.

Hey, that is quite the card……interesting fold idea.

Well, I haven’t exactly figured out why the punch is so popular that is has sold numerous times. Maybe the time of the year……daisies are popular this time of year & it’s a flower that almost all people like…..haven’t heard anyone say they “hate” a daisy. Plus the whole suite of DSP & stamp set are just such a neat package. And another thing….a punch is pretty handy…..love the dies but a punch is pretty handy……so that is my guess on the daisy punch!!

Maybe you should cut of the “tail” of Finn’s collar & that will solve that “contortion” problem!

    • But goodness knows what he’d find to entertain himself then!! 😳😳😳 Thanks, Karen – you’re right. Never heard anyone say – oh, no, thank you. I HATE daisies!! 🙂

  16. K. Boyer

I think the daisy reminds us of summer and warm days and being carefree. It’s a very happy set. Thanks for the chance to win.

  17. I think it is popular because, To me the daisy reminds me of a fresh new beginning. It is my favorite flower! There is a softness and delicateness to the daisy..

  18. Lynn C.

I think the daisy stamp set and punch are so popular as a punch is quick to use, there is not a lot of coloring to do, and everyone likes daisies.

  19. Kathie Nielsen

I just found your blog while looking at videos on Youtube. dog mom to dog mom, your Finn is gorgeous. I have picked up some good ideas from your posts. I think the daisy punch bundle is popular because it is so versatile. it can go 3-d to make bouquets, etc. It is also a classic design. Who doesnt’ love daisies..they love them…they love them not…they love them 🙂

    • Thank you so much – I think he’s pretty handsome, too!! And yes – who doesn’t love a daisy!?! Thanks for leaving a comment, Kathie – and good luck in the draw! 🙂

  20. Kathy Beaver

I loved catching up with Finn. I am turning into an FF and need my Finn fix. SU had a beautiful daisy set with a brass embossing thingy to match. Sold it long ago, so I might have to break down and get the new daisy bundle. I still have the Bigz daisy die, too. Wish me luck!

    • LOL – everyone succumbs to his sweet freckled face eventually! I do think you need this new Daisy set, Kathy! Good luck in the draw!! 🙂

  21. Karren Olaveson

    Hi Mary,
Such beautiful cards are made with this punch and stamp set. All of your cards would be included in that statement. I think people love it because it is so easy to use, and the results are beautiful every time. I am so glad you are home once again, and that your are enjoying cute little Finn. Isn’t he just the cutest? I just gasped when I saw your blog candy. I have missed ordering this set, twice now, but now I get a chance to win it for free. Well, how kind is that? Thanks for this generous chance to win, and good luck to all of the others who have entered. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Take care of yourself. You mean you don’t want another trip to my beautiful state of Utah? Now, Mary, you know you are just chomping at the bit to get back here. LOL.
    Best wishes,
    Karren

    • Thanks so much, Karren! You’re sure right – this set is a guaranteed “winner” every time, isn’t it? I wouldn’t mind a trip to Utah (especially if I had the chance to meet you while I was there!) – heck, I’m going to Salt Lake in November for the Stampin’ Up! event. But Dugway? No, ma’am! Good luck in the draw! 🙂

  22. Pam

Hi Mary. Thanks so much for the video. Glad I was able to tune in. The daisy punch is pretty, versatile, easy to use and, frankly, you can’t really screw it up. What’s not to love!

    • I love something I can’t screw up, that’s for sure! Thanks for tuning in last night, Pam!! Good luck in the draw! 🙂

  23. Debra Anderson

Enjoyed watching you make the card last night, Mary. Although I have been enjoying your blog for some time now it was the first time I was able to catch you “Live”. I may have to watch a couple of more times to get it right. The template is definitely a MUST for me. I think the daisy suite is so popular because it is a sweet reminder of lazy summer days. Punches are so convenient to use as well. Thanks for the opportunity to win those awesome products. As I said last night, you are extremely generous with your offer.

    • Why, thank you, Debra – I’m so happy you were on live with me last night! I appreciate y’all spending some of your weekend with me! Lazy summer days – yes, please! Good luck in the draw, Debra! 🙂

  24. Kathy Beemer

I love this card idea and I’m so going to try it! I’m smitten with the Daisy bundle and there’s so much you can do with the punch.

    • Yes – I love that you don’t even have to stamp the image! Thanks so much, Kathy – hope I get to see what you create when you try this fun fold card. Good luck in the draw! 🙂

  25. Karen

I can’t wait to try your fun-fold card. I follow your blog every day for your wonderful ideas as well as your fun stories about Finn. I think the daisy punch is so popular because of the variety of projects you can make with it and the ease of using the punch to make flowers very quickly with or without the stamp set.

    • Thank you, Karen – that really means a lot to me! And yes – it’s an awfully versatile suite, isn’t it? Have fun making your corner pop up card! Good luck in the draw! 🙂

  26. Love the card! It is on my list to make next. Daisies in Girl Scouts meant new beginnings. And in olden days women would pick daisies to see who their true love was by plucking each petal, he loves me, he loves me not:) to others it was meant to keep a secret ” I’ll never tell.” It looks like a star shining! You can make a crown of daisies for your hair ( have to get this set now). My birthday is in April and the sweet pea and daisy are the birth flowers. I love daises they will go with any other flowers:) Thanks for a chance to win!!

    • So many reasons to love daisies! And any one of them could be why this has been so popular! Fingers crossed for you, Donna!! 🙂

  27. Janice M

I’ve been following your blog for several months now and I enjoy it very much! It was great that you continued while you were in FL.
I’m not sure why this punch is so popular, however, I have missed it twice; it is so generous of you to give everyone a chance to win this punch! Maybe it’s popular because everyone loves daisies and it seems like it is quick to use.
Thank you for the chance to win! Our puppy is just about a year old now and I really enjoy your pics and comments about Finn!

    • Thank you so much for following me, Janice! I really appreciate you!! 🙂 It IS quick to use – and maybe you’ll get the chance if you’re the lucky winner!! Best of luck to you and enjoy the rest of puppyhood!! 🙂

  28. joni p

I love that the daisy is such a versatile flower. And the matching punch is great! I love your card. Thanks for the opportunity to win the set.

  29. Hello Mary! Thank you so much for always posting such awesome projects! I think it’s been so popular because it’s so bright and cheerful and it seems people are happier in the summer! Not everyone has a BigShot or die cutting machine, so I think having the punch to punch out your daisies is a big deal and it’s so easy! Thank you for offering such a generous blog candy and thanks for the chance to win!

    • I know. I even HAVE a Big Shot and I STILL love punches! They’re just so quick and easy to use! Thank you so much for the kind words, Jen! Good luck in the draw! 🙂

  30. Robbie Miller

I think the Daisy Punch is popular because … “Who doesn’t love Daisies” !! The matching paper just makes it even better to create with. Plus there are so many gorgeous projects online, it is just too hard to resist buying it. That’s my thoughts … LOL !!

  31. Donna Black

Sorry I didn’t watch the facebook presentation but I’m commenting on the dog sympathy card. For
such a sad time the card is perfect. You captured it perfect. I would like to ask what set the dog
came from? I haven’t seen a dog stamp that good looking. Usually they are all cutesy. Anyway
    it’s a perfect card. Thanks – Donna

  32. Carol C.

Everyone LOVES daisies because they are bright and cheery! They just make you SMILE! When I got married 51 years ago my attendants carried daisies dyed pink, blue and yellow. I love that the punch and stamps coordinate. Good move on Stampin’ Up’s part! I love dies but grabbing a punch is still
the most efficient way to get a lovely paper shape!

    • Yep – I’m a big fan of punches! I bet your wedding was beautiful with all the daisies and their smiling faces all around! Thanks so much, Carol – and good luck in the draw! 🙂

  33. Karen Ksenzakovic

H Mary. I love your card and the video on how to make it. I can’t wait to try it, just waiting to have a few extra minutes to sit down for a few. I think the Daisy punch is so popular because it makes such a realistic flower that’s fun and easy to make.Honestly who doesn’t like looking at daisies, they are so cheerful and pretty. I’ve loved ALL your cards made with the daisy bundle. Thanks for sharing and for a chance for the great Blog Candy. It’s great to have updated pictures and happenings about Finn.

    • Thanks so much, Karen – that’s sweet! I do love how real you can make the flowers with this punch! Good luck in the draw! 🙂

  34. Susan K

Hi Mary. I missed the Live event this week so thanks for the video…I love that fun fold and cute cute card. I think the daisy punch is so popular because it’s such a happy flower and so versatile. The stampe set adds dimension to the punched flower and that paper is gorgeous. I think it’ll make a pretty Black-eyed Susan! Might try your fun fold with colors for one! Thanks for the FFF pics…I think he’s still teething and wants to chew on the end! It’s a constant chew toy for him.

    • Well – maybe not teething, but he does still like to chew things, so that’s a pretty solid explanation of his love of the end of his collar!! Black-eyed Susans!! Brilliant!! Please share when you make it, Susan!! And good luck in the draw!! 🙂

  35. Karen Ilsley

Gorgeous creative card Mary! Who doesn’t love a daisy?

  36. Michele

First, I love the card and will have to give it a try. I also love the daisy bundle. I think it is so popular because of the realistic look and versatility of the bundle to do more than cards.

  37. Jean Maas

Love the daisy punch, so easy to use, don’t have to go to the Big Shot , can just sit at my desk and punch away. Going to make a card by pulling a petal off and saying “He loves me, he loves me not.”

    • Thanks, Jean – glad you were able to get on and leave a comment! 🙂 And – can’t wait to see your card! 🙂

  38. Kay V.

The Daisy bundle makes for quick and beautiful cards. I love the cone flowers made using the punch. I haven’t tried this fancy folded card but I hope to soon. Thanks for all the inspiration.

    • Hmmm- cone flowers! Of course – that’s genius, too! Need to make some of those – how versatile! Thanks so much, Kay! 🙂

  39. Karen A.

Hi. So I think the stamp set makes the punch so easy to use.
Not to mention pinterest rest and all the great designs out there.
Plus it’s reasonable for us budget concious stamp in up lovers.
Geez did I really say that out loud?
Either way I love it and hope to order the set soon.

    • It actually IS a pretty decent value – especially given the quality of our punches, huh? But I did sort of LOL – “budget conscious” Ha ha!! Thanks so much, Karen! 🙂

  40. Linda Williams

I love this card! You made it so easy to understand. The Daisy designer series paper is a must have too!!!!

    • Thank you so much, Linda! I hope you give it a try. And yes – I love love love the Delightful Daisy DSP!! 🙂

  41. Marge

I think daisy’s are always so cheery and always make you smile and can make them all different pretty colors.

    • They are, for sure – and they do just make you smile when you see a bunch of them! Thanks so much, Marge – and good luck! 🙂

  42. Jan Williams

Beautiful Card!!! I would LOVE to have the Daisy Delight set. I love anything flowers, and this set is gorgeous!!

  43. Micheline Lueken

Why is the Daisy Delight set so popular? Because it’s daisies. Everyone loves daisies. Daisies are what I used or my bouquet when I got married.

  44. Jessica S

I have a cameo but certain things it won’t cut well like the shape of the daisy punch. Maybe that’s why it has sold out. I’m ordering the pretty label punch tomorrow. I placed an order for the pretty label punch, it was my first order but then realized I wanted to order other things as well. I hope they cancel the first order so I can add more things!

    • I’ve done that a bunch, too – remembered something I wanted right after I hit “Submit! LOL! Thanks much, Jessica! 🙂

  45. Peggy Hendricks

Thanks for the beautiful daisy card with the super fun folds!! Genius! I think it has been so successful because we haven’t had a daisy suite since the ’90’s! So sweet and innocent. Love the petals stamped in white on vellum and embossed!! As for Finn…doggie therapist?? Just sayin’!

  46. Joann Western

I think the Daisy punch is popular because it can also be made into other flowers besides a daisy, black eye susan comes to my mind. It is also easily to manipulate for a 3-D look.
Enjoy your personality and talent. Thank you for sharing.

    • I think you’re right – we’ve got a lot of flowers – but…this one is so cool. Cuz, you know….DAISY! Thanks much, Joann! 🙂

    • You’re the second person to suggest a black-eye susan! Going to give that a shot. Thanks much, Joann! 🙂

  47. marlene

My first time looking at your blog from Pinterest. Love the Daisy Delight Corner Pop-up card and signed up to peek at your other cards. Thanks for sharing.

    • stampsnlingers

Welcome, Marlene! So happy you decided to follow my blog! Ans that you liked the Daisy card! Thank you! 🙂

  48. Super cute card, I may attempt it…but I just wanted to tell you how delightful you are! I laughed several times throughout your video at your comments and anecdotes. You’re quite entertaining and I enjoyed the video enormously. Thank you!

    • stampsnlingers

Oh, that’s very kind of you to say, Danielle! Glad you had fun – and hope you WILL try the card! And…come back soon! 🙂
