Stampin’ Up! Birthday Memories Suite Sneak Peek

Hey, y’all!  Welcome to Saturday!  Hope you’ve got some big plans for your weekend – even if it’s sit around and do nothing!

Which sounds pretty freakin’ amazing, doesn’t it??  We have dog school, errands, patio building and Guardians of the Galaxy on our list.  So – I’m going to make this quick! 🙂

As I promised, I branched out a bit and am bringing you a card made with the new Birthday Memories Suite! This suite has an old-fashioned feel that’s really cool.  I used the Birthday Delivery stamp set, the matching Birthday Friends Framelits and some of the Birthday Memories DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout is inspired by the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.

So, first jump outta the gate, there’s a cool little secret in the Birthday Memories DSP!  Several of the images scattered amongst the papers fit the Birthday Friends Framelits!  So – you can just die cut a pretty image that’s already perfectly colored for you by the artists at Stampin’ Up!  🙂

I started with the Daffodil Delight paper and, using the bouquet die in the Birthday Friends Framelits, I cut the bouquet from the paper.  Then I SNAILd the rest of the panel to an Early Espresso mat.  I knew that the gaping hole in the panel would be covered up by the rest of the card!

Next up is the colorful striped paper, also matted on Early Espresso and then SNAILd to the card front.  I layered a piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon over the paper, then wrapped some of the new Pacific Point 1/4″ Stitched-Edge Ribbon around it, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My art panel is a piece of Whisper White card stock, SNAILd to Early Espresso.  I stamped the little girl image from Birthday Delivery in Crumb Cake.  Then I inked over her socks and shoes with my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker and colored her socks with my Calypso Coral Marker and her hair in Daffodil Delight.

I decided to do a little piecing on her dress.  So I stamped the girl image again on a piece of Calypso Coral paper from the Delightful Daisy DSP and fussy cut her dress.  So that I could keep her arms white (and not Coral!!), I cut the dress in two pieces.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the paper to the image.

I popped my die-cut bouquet over the top of the image with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the Birthday Delivery sentiment in Pacific Point under my little girl.  Then I popped the panel over the ribbon.  I used a double-stack of Dimensionals in each corner – to accommodate the thickness of the ribbon.

I tied a bow with the Pacific Point 1/4″ Stitched Edge Ribbon and adhered it to the panel with Liquid Glue – and that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Birthday Delivery in Pacific Point on a Whisper White panel.  Using the little party hat image, I inked the hat in Sweet Sugarplum and the pom-pom in Blushing Bride and added it at the top of the sentiment.  Then I cut a couple of presents from the Birthday Memories DSP with the matching die from Birthday Friends.  I also fussy cut a few more presents, and adhered them across the bottom with Liquid Glue.

I SNAILd the panel to an Early Espresso mat and into my Pacific Point card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some Birthday Delivery presents stamped across the front.  I stamped them all in Crumb Cake, then colored them with my Pacific Point, Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write Markers…

…and then I added a little more of the Birthday Memories DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This Birthday Memories Suite is a fun way to craft birthday cards for kids and adults alike – and I love that you can die cut the images right out of the Designer Paper!  What a great idea SU! came up with!  I hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

So a couple days ago, Finn and I had a close encounter.

Of the quacking kind!

We went down to the back pond for our normal morning frisbee/bumper/ponding session and discovered…

A handsome Mallard drake and his lovely lady friend. 🙂

What was so interesting is that we drove the golf cart right up to the pond, Finn was bounding about as usual.

And they just paddled to and fro….with a little bit of hither and yon thrown in…

I’m not sure that Finn really knew what to make of them.  He certainly kept an eye on them, but…showed no interest in flushing them or herding them.

Live and let live, that’s his motto.

Unless you’re a squirrel.

Or a bug.  He hates him some bugs!!

  2. Very cute card! Love the DSP background and your little girl with the flowers is too cute! Ginny has a squirrel thing…and a cat thing too. 🙂

The girl with her pieced dress and pretty flowers are cute but it’s the ribbon that I love the most! Very creative and fits the style perfectly! TFS.

Such a cute card! I’m not sure I am up to all the fussy cutting, but you did a superb job. I hope Finn just watches the ducks!

    • He did! Just watched them. They were gone that evening – but we had a little Teal yesterday morning! Love them! Thanks much, Julie! 🙂

  8. Great take on the sketch!
