Stampin’ Up! Happy Ornament Triptych for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  We had a sketch this week (that I took a little liberty with cuz I sorta didn’t look at it too closely when I was building my card!) – and I know there are going to be a lot of great projects for you to see this week, so….be sure to check out all the offerings of the Ladies-Who-Hop!

I kind of glanced at the sketch and saw the triple panel and then I totally missed 1) the banner at the bottom and 2) the landscaped-ness of the sketch.  I pulled out the Happy Ornament a la carte stamp and some Presents & Pinecones DSP and just went on my Merry way.

Merry.  Get it?

Christmas ornament?? Mary??

Never mind.

Here’s what I came up with – take a look-see:

happy-ornament-tryptych-4-stamps-n-lingersThis one was really quick and easy – I thought you might need one like that after the more complicated and many-step-many product card from yesterday!

To begin, I SNAILd a piece of Presents & Pinecones DSP to a Garden Green mat.  In retrospect, I might should have gone with Emerald Envy – but I didn’t, so I used Garden Green all the way thru like it was my job! 🙂

The art work is simply the Happy Ornament image heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Then I sliced it into 3 equal sized panels.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to a Whisper White panel and then SNAILd that to a Cherry Cobbler Mat.

I popped that panel onto my card front with Stampn’ Dimensionals.  The bow is a piece of Thick Whisper White Baker’s Twine and a piece of Garden Green Baker’s Twine, adhered to the card with some Liquid Glue.  Finally, I added three Garden Green Enamel Shapes.  We learned about the “Rule of Three” at the WCMD last week, so I was trying it out!

And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I began with a piece of Whisper White matted on Cherry Cobbler.  Then I SNAILd a strip of Presents & Pinecones DSP to a Cherry Cobbler Mat and onto the Whisper White panel.

I SNAILd it all into a Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I pulled out the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set and stamped a couple of Garden Green presents and Cherry Cobbler bows on the front…

…and added more Presents & Pinecones DSP to the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  So quick – so easy – so fun!  I love that even broken into three pieces, your brain just automatically adjusts and is able to read the entire sentiment!  And this has to be one of the coolest stamps we’ve got!  Hope you like!

  1. I really like what you did here. Thank you for sharing. What is the 3 rule?

    • She told us about using three colors – two colors and a neutral (I think – it might have been three colors and a neutral, but I usually do it the other way). The part I remember the most clearly is about using things like the enamel shapes/rhinetones/pearls. Two on one side and one on a kitty-corner. So that’s what I tried to re-create her! Thanks much, Karen! 🙂

  2. Very cute Mary! Love the ornament panel. Great background too! 🙂

  3. Mom

Artistic license! Applied most handsomely! To very nice effect. Like it lots.

  4. That is cool Mary! And I see the sketch essentials there. So creative!!! Beautifully done😀

  5. This is just SO STUNNING Mary. Thank you so much for the ideas. How incredibly effective splitting the stamp is here! GORGEOUS!

  6. Susan K

Mary, I love your humor in your writing! And your cards and descriptions are wonderful. This is close enough to the sketch that it works for me! I would never have thought to cut that stamped image but it is cute and Merry. TFS.

  7. Karen L.

Yep, it is close enough for me to qualify!! The rule of 3 works in all sorts of designs……well, I guess I have always used the rule of odds are more attractive then evens…….but not always!! Oh, the rules of design!! But, I love the card…..you little rebel you!!

    • Yep. I’m an outside-the-box thinker for sure. Said no one, ever! Odds ARE always better in decorating than evens! Thanks much, Karen! 🙂

  8. Very creative Mary. I love how you stamped and then made your panels. So pretty!
