Stampin’ Up! Merry Christmas with Suite Seasons!

Good morning, and Merry Christmas!  Thank you so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to stop by – I’m going to keep it short and sweet!

Finn is getting all ready for his first Christmas!  And maybe a prime rib bone?  Or…three? 🙂

My card today is from the Suite Seasons stamp set in the Holiday Catalog.  Take a look-see:

suite-seasons-merry-christmas-4-stamps-n-lingers
The layout is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge!

fms-268-sketch
The card front is simply a Whisper White panel, embossed in the Holly TIEF and then matted on Cherry Cobbler.  Next up is a piece of Presents & Pinecones DSP, matted on Cherry Cobbler and then SNAILd to the card front.

suite-seasons-merry-christmas-2-stamps-n-lingers
The sentiment is from Suite Seasons – I used the marker-to-rubber technique and inked the words and the berries with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker and the pine bough with the Emerald Envy marker.

I matted the panel on Cherry Cobbler and popped it over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  To finish it off, I made a bow with Cherry Cobbler, Emerald Envy and Gold Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Snugged in under the bow is a silver holly sprig from the Christmas Trinkets Embellishments.

suite-seasons-merry-christmas-1-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I stamped just the pine sprig again – I covered the rest of the stamp with a sticky note and colored the sprig with the Markers – I also stamped it off once before I stamped my panel.  Over the top of that, I stamped a second sentiment – this time from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set – in Cherry Cobbler.

suite-seasons-merry-christmas-5-stamps-n-lingers
I matted the panel on Cherry Cobbler and SNAILd it into my Emerald Envy card base.  The card front is popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added the sprig image twice on the front (this time in full-strength ink!)…

suite-seasons-merry-christmas-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and used a little more Presents & Pinecones DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is a great layout – letting you showcase a beautiful embossing folder and pretty paper – and the Suite Season stamp set is really pretty perfect!  Hope you like.

Stampin’ Up! Totally Trees Thankful Thoughts

Happy Friday, y’all!  Two days until Christmas – hope you’re ready!

So, this morning, as Finn and I headed for the barn to feed, a motion caught my eye.  I saw a brown body in the reflection of a window in the shop.  I figured there was a deer so I started to look to get Finn on his leash.

At that point – he woofed his “holy crap, what’s that, MOM!!!?” woof.

I looked up to see the two Haflinger girls looking at me from the little hill behind the house.

Hmm.  Wrong place for them to be!  Out of the pasture – at large around the house and the barn.  Mayhem and havoc wreaking surely did abound!

Got them back in their stalls, fed and happy.  Returned the trash to the can that had been investigated thoroughly, if not tidily.  “Tidy” is, after all, truly a function of thumbs and fingers….hooves and giant schnoozles?  Not really precision instruments!

Finn was – once again – gobsmacked!  (He spends a lot of time gobsmacked – it’s part of being a kid!)

Finn remained….weirded out…for a bit.  Took some lap-time to calm him down.  Danged ponies.

WhotheheckdotheythinktheyareanywayMOM!!?

My card today features a stamp set that I was really sad to see on the retiring list – Totally Trees.  What a lovely and simple stamp set this one is!  I combined it with a couple of sentiments from the Thankful Thoughts set to make a nice little thank you card.  Take a look-see!

Stampin’ Up! Happy Ornament Triptych for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  We had a sketch this week (that I took a little liberty with cuz I sorta didn’t look at it too closely when I was building my card!) – and I know there are going to be a lot of great projects for you to see this week, so….be sure to check out all the offerings of the Ladies-Who-Hop!

happy-stampers-blog-hop-sketch-10-nov-16
I kind of glanced at the sketch and saw the triple panel and then I totally missed 1) the banner at the bottom and 2) the landscaped-ness of the sketch.  I pulled out the Happy Ornament a la carte stamp and some Presents & Pinecones DSP and just went on my Merry way.

Merry.  Get it?

Christmas ornament?? Mary??

Never mind.

Here’s what I came up with – take a look-see:

happy-ornament-tryptych-4-stamps-n-lingersThis one was really quick and easy – I thought you might need one like that after the more complicated and many-step-many product card from yesterday!

To begin, I SNAILd a piece of Presents & Pinecones DSP to a Garden Green mat.  In retrospect, I might should have gone with Emerald Envy – but I didn’t, so I used Garden Green all the way thru like it was my job! 🙂

The art work is simply the Happy Ornament image heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Then I sliced it into 3 equal sized panels.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to a Whisper White panel and then SNAILd that to a Cherry Cobbler Mat.

happy-ornament-tryptych-2-stamps-n-lingers
I popped that panel onto my card front with Stampn’ Dimensionals.  The bow is a piece of Thick Whisper White Baker’s Twine and a piece of Garden Green Baker’s Twine, adhered to the card with some Liquid Glue.  Finally, I added three Garden Green Enamel Shapes.  We learned about the “Rule of Three” at the WCMD last week, so I was trying it out!

And that was it for the card front!

happy-ornament-tryptych-3-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I began with a piece of Whisper White matted on Cherry Cobbler.  Then I SNAILd a strip of Presents & Pinecones DSP to a Cherry Cobbler Mat and onto the Whisper White panel.

happy-ornament-tryptych-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it all into a Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I pulled out the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set and stamped a couple of Garden Green presents and Cherry Cobbler bows on the front…

happy-ornament-tryptych-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and added more Presents & Pinecones DSP to the envelope flap!

happy-ornament-tryptych-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  So quick – so easy – so fun!  I love that even broken into three pieces, your brain just automatically adjusts and is able to read the entire sentiment!  And this has to be one of the coolest stamps we’ve got!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Presents and Pines Box-in-a-Bag for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  This is color week – and I know there are going to be a lot of great projects for you to see this week, so….be sure to check out all the offerings of the Ladies-Who-Hop!

Here are the colors we used – a pretty good color palette for a Christmas-time project, don’t you think?

13939375_10210533907292230_2970596751619329350_n
My project also played nicely into this week’s The Paper Players Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.  Check the bottom row! 🙂

pp319-sketch

This weekend is the OnStage Local event – which just so happens to have a venue in Atlanta!  Handy, huh!?  And the day before that, Brian King and Pam Morris are hosting a World Card Making Day event (a little later than the actual WCMD – but nicely aligned with OnStage!).  And, they’re doing a 3-d project swap.  So…today’s share is one of the projects I made for that swap!

At least – that’s how it started out – now I’m not sure I’m going to give it away! 😉  Only time will tell!

I used the Presents and Pinecones DSP and some Pretty Pines Thinlits.  Added in a Holly Jolly Layers sentiment and made…this.  Take a look-see:

presents-pinecones-box-in-a-box-1-stamps-n-lingers

This is a “Box in a Bag”!  Fun, right?  And really easy to make!  My friend Jari Francis made one a few days ago, and I decided to try it for myself.  She – and I – used the great tutorial by Diana Gibbs on SplitCoast Stampers.  You can check it out right here!

Although you can’t see it, the inside box is made from a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock, cut to 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″, put together exactly like the tutorial shows.

I used the pretty pine cones design from Presents and Pinecones for the “bag” part of the project.  Just like the tutorial stated, I ran a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive along the bottom and one side of my 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of DSP, then I pulled off the backing paper from the bottom strip.  I “rolled” my paper around my box.

But – I sort of messed up.  I started the paper – in the middle of the box as instructed – but I started with the edge that had the Tear & Tape on it.

Wrong.

Start with the edge that does not have the adhesive.  That way, when you get to the end, you’ll be all ready to stick everything together.  If you do it my way, you’ll have to stop and add another piece of adhesive, and you’ll have a “leftover” strip inside your box.

Like mine! 🙂

But, it worked out and I had my bag!  So it was time for some decoration.

I cut a 1″ x 11″ strip of Crumb Cake card stock and ran it a few times thru the Pine Bough TIEF.  That added a little texture and interest, and broke the fibers of the card stock a little, making it easier to roll around the bottom of the bag.

presents-pinecones-box-in-a-bag-6-stamps-n-lingers

Which I did, using more Tear & Tape Adhesive.  When you do this – just take your time.  The most persnickety piece is making sure that the bottom of your strip stays aligned with the bottom of the bag/box.

At this point, I “designated” a “front” to the bag (I put the bag seam on one side, and the bottom strip seam on the front – knowing I’d cover it with my decorations.

I decorated the bag with Pretty Pines Thinlits pine boughs, cut from Garden Green card stock.  I cut several of each length and adhered them oh-so-artfully around the bottom of the bag, using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  I wrapped some Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine three times around the bottom of the bag, adhering it with a Glue Dot at the front of the bag.  Before I stuck the final end down, I ran two Mini Pinecones embellishments thru the twine – and used the final Glue Dot to stick them in place.

presents-pinecones-box-in-a-bag-4-stamps-n-lingers

Next I cut some pine cones, all using Crumb Cake card stock.  For two of them, I cut “backer” pine cones from Copper Foil, and adhered them with Liquid Glue.  I also cut a couple of berries in Cherry Cobbler.  Using more of the Liquid Glue, I adhered it all to the bag.

The bow is tied from three pieces of Bakers’ Twine – Garden Green, Cherry Cobbler and Gold – and adhered with Liquid Glue.  I left the tails long and used more Liquid Glue to stick them to the box.

presents-pinecones-box-in-a-bag-5-stamps-n-lingers

With that all done, I addressed the top of the bag.  First I used my 1/2″ Circle Punch to cut holes in the top for my Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Silky Taffeta Ribbon (which I’ll use to close the bag after putting my gift or a few pieces of chocolate inside!).

I made my tag by stamping the round image from the Host-exclusive set called Holly Jolly Layers (Holiday Catalog) onto Whisper White card stock.  I used my Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp directly.  Then I cut it with a scalloped die from the Circles Layering Framelits.  I punched a hole thru the top with my 1/8″ Handheld Circle punch and then ran three strands of Baker’s Twine thru the hole.

presents-pinecones-box-in-a-bag-3-stamps-n-lingers

I tied the label into one of my 1/2″ holes at the top of the bag, tying a final bow and….the bag was done! 🙂

This is a fun sized bag – it would easily hold a small (lightweight!) gift – socks?  Tie?  Action Figure? Candy?  And it’s really easy to get the box-in-a-bag part put together so that you can get to decorating – which is the fun part.  Hope you like!  And that you’ll give one a try yourself! 🙂

FYI, here are the measurements for the full cutout pieces for the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies:

  • Circles:
    1-3/8”
    1-7/8”
    2-3/8”
    2-7/8”
  • Squares:
    1-3/16”
    1-5/8”
    2-1/8”
    2-5/8”
  • Ovals:
    1-3/4” x 13/16”
    2-1/4” x 1-5/16”
    2-3/4” x 1-13/16”
    3-1/4” x 2-5/16”

The stitched embossing is approximately 1/16” from the edge of the cutout. So the dimensions are approximately 1/8” smaller than the cutouts.

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Pines for a Merry Medley!

It’s….. say it with me!…..HAWWWWMP Day!!!  And I have a Duck-Duck update.  The update is that…there is no update!  Yes, it’s true.

There’s been not a word.

Not a cackle.

Not a cluck or a chuckle.

Not a Twitter nor a tweet.

She doesn’t write.  She doesn’t call.  She unfriended me on Facebook.  I think she filed for emancipation.

We’ve been totally abandoned.

Ahhh-goose….fickle is thy name.

Sorry, folks – guess the stories about Duck-Duck’s eccentricities are lost and gone forever, dreadful sorry….Clementine…

Whoops – segued into a song there for a second! 🙂

So, on to the card.  It’s another 2016 Holiday Catalog sneak peek – this time you get to see the fun Merry Medley background stamp…
