Stampin’ Up! What I Love Sneak Peek!

I’ve been a busy Stampin’ Up! bee today!  I cleared out my retiring products from my stamping area and I built a spreadsheet to get an inventory going.  Had to do it.  I have multiples of ink pads and even a couple of doubled stamp sets! 🙁  Not a solid financial plan, is it?  So I figured maybe I could get a handle on it if I at least knew what I had!

The result of this effort was “discovering” stamp sets I’d sort of forgotten I have!  It was a little like opening that box from Stampin’ Up! all over again!  Kinda fun.

I also realized that I leave here in a week.  For a month.  Again.  And go right on nights. Yuk.

Making cards is hard when you work nights.  Especially when it’s more a swing than a night.  No morning time and get home too late to do much more than shower and crash.  So…I need to make cards ahead!  That was the other thing I started working on today.

With that lead in, I bet you think I’m going to share a project that uses a not-so-new-but-just-rediscovered, Annual Catalog stamp set, huh?  Well, you’d be guessin’ wrong! 😉 I’m using a fun stamp set that you can get starting TOMORROW!!!  Yes, that’s right – we’re on the very cusp of the 2016 Occasions Catalog going live!  And the Sale-A-Bration mini as well.

I’m using the SAB stamp set called What I Love. It’s a cool photopolymer set with a beautiful 3-step flower and some nice sentiments in a pretty font.  I combined that with the Bohemian Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Know What I Love 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

My design was inspired by the new sketch challenge #281 from Pals Paper Arts.  Head over and see what everyone’s coming up with for this first challenge os 2016, okay?

PPA 281 Sketch

My color scheme is from the Can You Case It #101 – this week was a color challenge!

CYCI 101 Sketch

When I saw this color combo, I was immediately drawn to the Bohemian DSP from the Annual Catalog.  It’s filled with vibrant blues and purples.  And, it’s got so much going on that I decided to really simplify the entire card, and let the DSP do the work.

So, I matted two pieces of the same design in the DSP on mats of Rich Razzleberry.  Then I cut a Whisper White circle with my Circles Collection Framelits and pulled out my What I Love stamp set.

Know What I Love 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I built the flower in Rich Razzleberry.  I started by stamping the outline image in straight Rich Razzleberry (in other words, I didn’t stamp it off first).  For the second part of the flower (the larger of the two “petal” stamps), I inked my stamp and stamped off TWICE before I stamped over the first image.  These multi-step stamps have arrows built into the stamp  – so all you have to do it point the arrow in the same spot with each stamp.  And this one is pretty easy to see anyway!  The final part of the process used the smallest of the flower “petal” images.  For that one, I inked the image and stamped off ONCE before stamping the image.  And that’s all there was to it – I was able to get a multi-layer flower with just one ink color.  Cool, huh?

Know What I Love 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the sentiment, I carefully inked the first two words of the sentiment image in Bermuda Bay and stamped it on the circle.  Then I cleaned the stamp with my Stampin’ Scrub, inked the second part of the sentiment and stamped it below the first part.  I SNAILd the circle to a mat of Rich Razzleberry that I’d cut with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch.

To build the card front, I SNAILd the smaller matted rectangle to the larger rectangle.  Then I popped the matted circle on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and turned the card front over to trim the excess off with my Paper Snips.  A few Rhinestone Basic Jewels finished it off!

Know What I Love 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the inside, I just stamped the sentiment in Bermuda Bay in the center of a Whisper White panel.   I added a Rich Razzleberry flower from the same What I Love stamp set (and stuck a Rhinestone in the middle – cuz I really just like them!).  I decided to use my Bohemian Designer Washi Tape to add a little color across the bottom.

Know What I Love 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Then I SNAILd the panel to a Rich Razzleberry mat and stuck it inside a Bermuda Bay card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I let the Bohemian Washi Tape do the work again on a Whisper White Medium Envelope – I just laid it down and snipped the edges….

Know What I Love 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and used more of the same design from the Bohemian DSP, cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelits for the inside of the envelope.

Know What I Love 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Volia!  A clean and simple card made from a potentially too-busy DSP!  I hope that you like it.

Ah…an inventory. Novel notion. One that I entertain now and then…until it goes away! Kudos for doing it. I am going to try to get ‘re done too! Meanwhile, your card is really good! I continue to be amazed by your creativity and use of materials. Do you believe in the skip-a-generation theory? Consider me skipped, I am pretty sure.

  4. I’ve seen too many of the things you’ve created in my lifetime to believe that one at all, Mom. Just won’t believe it!

    Thanks! 🙂

  5. Mary – your thin layers of Rich Razzleberry on this card are perfection! I love how you’ve used these challenges together to make a gorgeous card! I love it. Thank you so much for playing along with this Pals Paper Arts sketch challenge.
