Stampin’ Up! Flurry of Wishes Let it Snow!

Happy Monday – the biggest oxymoron going, huh!?  I am of the opinion that no one really likes Monday – no matter what it is you have to do on Monday.  I work from home.  And yet – on Sunday afternoon – I get the Sunday afternoon blues.  What’s up with that? 🙂

Today’s share is a winter-y card full of wishes for winter snow.  Here in the A-T-L, snow is a seldom-seen phenomenon.  And when it DOES snow….well, let’s just say it’s way better to just stay at the house!  Cause A-T-L-ians really don’t drive in the snow so good.  But, they THINK they can…..so…..this is what happens….

This was in The Great Snow Storm of 2014.  Like I said – if you’re ever in Atlanta and it snows, snuggle down at home!

But, snow is fun and pretty (as long as it leaves in a few days!) and so, when winter comes around, I always wish it would snow just a little.  I used the new stamp set Flurry of Wishes, and its bundled punch called Snow Flurry to make today’s card.  Take a look-see:

Flurry of Wishes 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The design is inspired by Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #287.  Head over there when you’re done here and see what all they’ve come up with for this sketch!

SSSC 287

Rather obviously, I didn’t use a butterfly, but that’s not a requirement for the sketch!

I started by using some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere a piece of the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum to a piece of Pool Party card stock.  I dabbed the glue behind the printed snowflakes near the top of the paper, and got happy with it where I knew the circle element and the horizontal banner would cover it.

Flurry of Wishes 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I cut a circle out of Silver Foil with the largest of my Circle Collection Framelits, and then ran it thru the Big Shot in the Softly Falling TIEF.  I adhered it to the vellum’d card front with SNAIL.  I stuck the entire circle on – letting it hang off the bottom and right side – and then I trimmed the excess with my Paper Snips.

The horizontal sentiment banner is a piece of Home for Christmas DSP, SNAILd to a Pool Party card stock mat, and then SNAILd to the card front.  Once again, I let the ends hang over and then trimmed them to fit.  That’s really the best way to get your pieces to fit perfectly! 🙂

Flurry of Wishes 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The sentiment is from the Sparkly Seasons bundle containing the Sparkly Seasons stamp set and the Seasonal Frame Thinlits.  I taped off the word “snow” on the stamp and inked up the rest of the sentiment with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and stamped it on the Home for Christmas DSP.  Then I popped the whole thing onto my Very Vanilla card base.

I cut three of the “Snow” die cuts with the Seasonal Frame dies – two in Pool Party and one from the Silver Foil.  I adhered the stack together with lots of little dabs of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I used more glue to adhere the word to the card front.

The snowflakes are from Flurry of Wishes, and they’re all heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The largest was embossed on Pool Party card stock and then cut with the Flower Medallion punch (I think it’s cool that a punch from the Annual Catalog matches this Holiday Catalog stamp set!).  Then I stuck it to a piece of Silver Foil with Liquid Glue and fussy cut a silver mat for the snowflake!  I adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then added an Iced Rhinestone Embellishment.

The other snowflakes are heat embossed on Very Vanilla card stock in Silver, and punched out with the Snow Flurry punch (which I got with the stamp set as a bundle!).  I edged each snowflake with my Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker and adhered them with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to the card front.  They each got a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to finish them off.

The inside of the card is a blank piece of Very Vanilla, on a Pool Party mat, with a few more heat embossed Flurry of Wishes snowflakes.  Easy peasy.

Flurry of Wishes 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

For the envelope, I heat embossed some more snowflakes onto a Medium Very Vanilla Envelope…

Flurry of Wishes 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

….and then added a liner of the black snowflake design paper from the Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP! (sorry if you’r getting tired of seeing liners in envelopes – but it’s just too easy and too instant-custom-impact!!)

Hope that you like my snow-y winter-y card!

  • All funds will be donated in US dollars.
  • Mini spoiler alert! The October project inside the pink box is just as awesome as always, but we should probably let you know that it is not a pink project. That’s all we’re saying. 😉

  1. I love this color scheme Mary! Reminds me of a beautiful winter day of watching the snowflakes…from inside my warm house! Definitely don’t go out in it when it snows here, although it sure is fun to watch people skidding by from my front window. 😉
