Stampin’ Up! Sparkly Seasons Wish You a Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Fall Back Icon

Well, today’s share almost didn’t happen!  Yesterday, in the middle of making my card – for Halloween! – we went out to feed the horses.  Our big guy – who’s 25 or so (that’s not ancient, but it’s getting up there pretty good), came in with a case of ADR (that’s scientific vet speak for Ain’t Doin’ Right).  He took about 2 bites of his dinner and then began to act – wrong.  It became clear pretty quickly that he was colicing.  Now, when a baby colics – it’s worrisome.  When a horse colics – it’s beyond worrisome.  Colic can – and has! – kill a horse.  And an old horse…well…let’s just say that it gets our attention really fast.

Long story short – after about 2 1/2 hours of walking, doctoring and talking to the vet (and hoping for some….poop!), we finally left him in his stall for the night.  Back in the house at around 9:15pm – still no card done.  But, I persevered – at least I knew what I was going to do.  And – it helped me to stay awake for the 11pm welfare check on the patient!

On a brighter note – when I got home from the grocery store yesterday afternoon, a satisfyingly heavy Stampin’ Up! box was at the gate!  I just love when those kinds of boxes arrive – don’t you?  This was my order that I placed during the 15% off sale!!  Also – on the very same day that 6 new stamp sets arrived – Publix had TWO more of the Ster-i-lite CD boxes!!  Timing is everything!

So – back to the card I made.  I used Sparkly Seasons and its bundled Seasonal Frame Thinlits, paired with some Happy Haunting DSP to bring you Happy Halloween wishes.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! A Little Peek at My Stamping Area….

Well, it’s Hump Day again – and this one has some big meaning!  Its arrival means that TWO sale specials are half-way over!  That means y’all need to get on the stick.  The way we live in a time warp, you’re going to wake up real soon and it’s going to be Saturday – and you’ll have missed your chance to get 15% off stamp sets from Stampin’ Up! AND extra free goodies from ME and then you’ll be doing the Coulda-Woulda-Shoulda’s!  Don’t be the one that wakes up Saturday and realizes that the ship has sailed!

Today was fun for me.  I worked (not fun so much) and during lunch and breaks….I set up my “new” craft area! 🙂  By which I mean…I set up my TWO new Stamp-N-Storage pieces!  Whoo-hoo!  They had a great 15% off sale last week (and they always have free shipping in the US) and I pulled the trigger on a Combo ink pad/marker/refill shelf and a Lock-Down Punch shelf!  When it arrived, Wayne pulled it out of the box for me – and he was very pleasantly surprised to see that both pieces were fully assembled.  And constructed of solid, clear plywood!  No presswood (aka “tis wood”).  He mentioned how nicely it was put together and how solid it is.  For him to be impressed is….well, impressive!

I ended up re-arranging my tables – I “live” in the living room (I don’t do well stuck off in a room by myself – I like to be out where Wayne is hanging) – and I like how it ended up.  There may be a few adjustments….but this is a good start!

Here’s the Combo piece – yes, I know – you’ve all been just sitting on the edge of your seats to see my crafting area! (be warned – I am not a tidy crafter!)

Stampin’ Up! Happy Scenes Sparkly Seasons for Mojo Monday 419

Good morning from Arizona.  Where it’s planned to be….wait for it….102 degrees today.  In October.  Which is the “Fall”.  It’s just not okay.  Can’t wait to get home tomorrow where at least GA knows a little sumpin’ sumpin’ about Autumn.  We may not get it for very long – fingers crossed that this year we get more than last year! – but we get it.  Trees change color and fall off and everything.  And we get cold at night.  All harbingers of cool, lovely FALL!  Not so much here.  I am pretty sure I’ll never end up being a snow-bird.  Overnight lows of 83.

No.

So, I brought a little Autumn/October/Halloween with me.  Not literally!  Just in the form of a card.  I combined a bunch of sets – and every single one of them came as a money-saving bundle!! – Happy Scenes/Hearth & Home Thinlits, Sparkly Seasons/Seasonal Frame Thinlits, a little Among the Branches/Woodland TIEF… and I used a sort of unexpected DSP….Cherry on Top!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Embellished and Delicate Ornaments for Christmas!

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Wednesday and I’m once again away from home for business.  I’ll be back on Thursday, so it’s a short trip.  In anticipation of being away from my card-making goodies, I made two cards over the weekend and on Monday to be “ahead” of the game!  Before I share today’s card – a little story….

I have a Master’s Degree in Adult Education.  Yes, it’s true. I’m all edu-ma-cated and stuff!  One thing I learned in my course of study, was how to teach by example.  You can show students a “true” example.  “See?  If you do these things, in the order I’ve shown you, you’ll get the ‘right’ answer”.  You can also, however, teach by showing “close, non-examples”.  The end product is really….almost…right….  It’s also a method for tripping students up on multiple choice tests.  Two answers that look almost the same…but only one is correct.  The other is close.  A non-example.  That’s a simplified explanation.

But, why do I tell you this completely non-cardmaking, unrelated story?  Well, cause I sort of messed up one of my cards that I so industriously made ahead of time – and I didn’t have time to go back and re-do it.  So, I decided, having the heart of an educator, to use this as a teachable moment.

Stick with me, guys – you’ll know of what I speak soon.

My card design was based on the very pretty sketch from Mojo Monday.  #416, so be exact.  This is a great sketch, so please take a minute to go see what the other talented folks have come up with!

MM 416

When I saw the sketch, my brain said “Embellished Ornaments!”  So that’s what I pulled out – the bundled set, with clear mount stamps and matching Delicate Ornament Thinlits.  I grabbed my Dazzling Diamonds and Red Glimmer Papers.  I inventoried my gold and silver foil.  I found a piece of Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum.  And this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Flurry of Wishes Let it Snow!

Happy Monday – the biggest oxymoron going, huh!?  I am of the opinion that no one really likes Monday – no matter what it is you have to do on Monday.  I work from home.  And yet – on Sunday afternoon – I get the Sunday afternoon blues.  What’s up with that? 🙂

Today’s share is a winter-y card full of wishes for winter snow.  Here in the A-T-L, snow is a seldom-seen phenomenon.  And when it DOES snow….well, let’s just say it’s way better to just stay at the house!  Cause A-T-L-ians really don’t drive in the snow so good.  But, they THINK they can…..so…..this is what happens….

IMG_0415

This was in The Great Snow Storm of 2014.  Like I said – if you’re ever in Atlanta and it snows, snuggle down at home!

But, snow is fun and pretty (as long as it leaves in a few days!) and so, when winter comes around, I always wish it would snow just a little.  I used the new stamp set Flurry of Wishes, and its bundled punch called Snow Flurry to make today’s card.  Take a look-see:

Happy Day-After-Hump-Day!  Decided to play around with a cute new stamp set today called Sparkly Seasons.  It’s got a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for every holiday – Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween!  And it matches with a fun framelits set called Seasonal Frame.  And when you buy them both together, you can save 15%!

I also used a little bit of Hello You Thinlits….some Hearth & Home Thinlits and a Holiday Catalog Hostess Set called Six Sayings.  Yep – I was all over the place! 🙂

But – I think it came out pretty cute.  Take a look-see:
