Today’s share uses the beautiful new Designer Series Paper called English Garden. It’s reminiscent of the Painted Blooms DSP that was featured in the Sale-A-Bration at the start of the year. Like that pretty paper, the English Garden DSP can easily stand on its own – lending any card instant color and charm.
I’d also recently received the new Garden in Bloom set – and was itching to play. So, I combined the two and came up with this card for you. I even used some of the new Vintage Leaves stamps and matching die set (that I got as a bundle and saved myself 15%!). I had a real party, I tells ya and it was fun fun fun! 🙂

The design was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches #195. Head over to their blog to see other interpretations of their sketch!
While Hello Honey is the yellow-color that goes with the English Garden DSP, I didn’t have any card stock in that color. But it looked to me like Crushed Curry was pretty close to the colors in the DSP. So, that’s where I started – with my card base in Crushed Curry. I used a simple Whisper White mat – that I pierced a “frame” on using my Updated Essential Paper-Piercing Pack. I SNAILd my piece of the English Garden DSP to the pierced mat – notice that it’s a touch smaller than my normal card fronts – I wanted a little bigger white frame around it. Just thought it looked “right”. I adhered the layers to the card base with Dimensionals.
For the art piece, I cut three circles, using the second-from-the-center circle in the Circle Collection Framelits. Then I just SNAILd them to the card front. I stamped the little bee from the Garden in Bloom Photopolymer set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and then I cut him out with my snips. I didn’t worry about cutting off his little antenna or his stinger, cause of how he’s not really real! It’s a STAMP, folks – no bees were harmed in the making of this card!
I colored him in with my Hello Honey Stampin’ Write Marker. Then – I got a crazy idea. I ever-so-painstakingly smooshed each of his little wings into my Versamark pad, then I sprinkled Heat and Stick Powder on them. A short blast with my heat tool – just until the powder got a little glisten-y, then a sprinkle with my Gold Stampin’ Glitter and a final quick blast of heat….and I had tiny little glittery bee-wings! 🙂
I stuck my glam’d up little buzzzzer to the last circle with some Dimensionals. Then, I made him a very bee-like flight path with my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. And added back his little antenna and stinger! Lots LOTS easier than trying to cut them out, I promise! And – adds some dimension.
For the sentiment, I needed a shape that was kind of organic and big enough for the Hello sentiment I’d chosen from my Watercolor Wishes stamp set. I spied my new Vintage Leaves stamp set and….there it was! I stamped the leaf on a piece of Whisper White card stock in Pear Pizzaz ink and then cut it out with the matching Vintage Leaves die. Perhaps I mentioned that I got both the Vintage Leaves stamp set and the Vintage Leaves Thinlits as a bundle – thus saving myself an extra 15%? Oh….I did? Sorry. But, I think it bears repeating….
My leaf was bigger than I wanted, so I trimmed off the stem and it was perfect! I stamped my Watercolor Wishes sentiment in Tuxedo Black onto my stemless leaf and adhered it to the card front with some Dimensionals. And then, craziness struck AGAIN! I thought….what if little bee dude flew over the top of the sentiment a couple of times?!? I dithered a bit on this decision – it had the potential to be card-shattering! Finally, I decided to just dive in and I added the buzzzzy flight path to the sentiment leaf. And. I. Loved. It! Which is handy, since if I. Had. Hated. It. I’d have been trying to recover – probably with lots of Rhinestones, Pearls or Ribbon!!
That finished the front off (I decided against adding any rhinestones or pearls – what do you think??) – and I moved inside. I just used a couple of scraps of Crushed Curry and a little more of the English Garden DSP to embellish the card liner. Then a couple more buzzzy dudes with their bee-crazy flight paths. All of this on a piece of Whisper White Card Stock.
I quickly decorated a Whisper White Medium Envelope…. et voila! The ensemble was done!
I hope you love this card as much as I do! I think that little bee has to be the cutest stamp I’ve seen in a long time! 🙂
