Stampin’ Up! Rose Garden Wonder for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  it’s Thursday and that means it’s Blog Hop Day!  Today is a color challenge – and it was, for me, a true “challenge”!  Hang on a sec and you’ll see.  Our whole team is in on the hop today, so…please take a minute to check them all out, okay? 🙂

Our challenge today was to use Basic Black, Whisper White and Sahara Sand:

I stewed a bit on how to make this card and deal with this particular set of colors.  I’ve used Sahara Sand as my primary color in the past, but for some reason it stymied my today.  I finally just did some thumbing thru my DSPs and I stumbled upon the Timeless Elegance DSP.  Black, White, Sahara Sand.  That’s it!  So, that helped.

Then I gravitated towards the Rose Garden thinlit – it just sort of says “elegant” to me, so I figured I’d stick to the theme.  And, of course, the coordinating Rose Wonder stamp set, chock full of beautiful sentiments, sat ready to help me out.  So…when I put them all together, here’s what I came up with!  Take a look-see:

Rose Garden Thoughts and Prayers 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

And it’s pretty darned easy to make, too!  I started by cutting two of the large die cuts from the Rose Garden Thinlits – one each in Basic Black and Whisper White.  I’d love to tell you it’s cuz I knew right off the bat what my plan was for the card, but in fact I was not at all sure!  I’d thought I’d use the white on the outside, but…well.  As you can see, that’s not where it ended up!

Rose Garden Thoughts and Prayers 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd a piece of the lacy design from Timeless Elegance to a Basic Black Mat – just like I would if the card front was going to be “normal”.  Over that, I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue – in lots of little dots – to adhere the Basic Black Rose Garden thinlit to the panel.  And then I fussy cut the edge.  It was easy cuz the die cut gave me a solid line to cut against!

Rose Garden Thoughts and Prayers

Then I SNAILd that to my Sahara Sand Card Base. I aligned the un-cut corner with the bottom corner of the card base, keeping my normal 1/8″ edge. And then out came the Paper Snips again – and I fussy cut the excess Sahara Sand from the righthand side of the card. And that was it for the card front – I left it un-embellished.

On the inside, I SNAILd a Whisper White panel to another Basic Black mat. Then I used more of the Liquid Glue and adhered the Whisper White Rose Garden die cut to the white panel – you can see it’s a mirror of the outer rose!  Then I used Basic Black Archival Ink to stamp the pretty sentiment from Rose Wonder on the liner.  It’s a photopolymer stamp set, so I was able to just line it up – didn’t even need my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig! 🙂

Rose Garden Thoughts and Prayers 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I took just a second to use my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and lightly outlined the inside of the cut edge on the card front – just to “clean it up” a little .

Rose Garden Thoughts and Prayers 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the completed liner into my Sahara Sand card base, and the card was done!

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped the leaves image from Rose Wonder in Basic Black Archival Ink and then colored it in with a Sahara Sand Stampin’ Write Marker…

…and then I added a liner with another piece of lacy Timeless Elegance DSP, cutting it with my Envelope Liner Framelit.

Et Voila!  Timeless Elegance DSP gave me the starting point and the Rose Wonder Suite (the Rose Wonder Stamp Set, and the Rose Garden Thinlit Dies) brought it home for me.  What do you think? 🙂

And – not for nuthin’ – the Rose Garden Thinlits are on the Weekly Deals this week!!  And you can see how useful they are all by themselves!
